9861 | Holy Spirit and the nature of God? | Heb 1:2 | Searcher56 | 8052
Hiram, It is important to ask questions. Do we understand the true nature of God? I am sure sure anyone does. Take a couple ... He is omnipresence and omnipotent. As I write, He is here and in the next room with my wife. He is there with you. He is in all three of us. He is in heaven. He is more powerful than any atomic power plant. I don't even understand atomic power. To answer your question, I say, no. I accept the true nature of God. Even the Trinity, which I dod not understand fully. If I do not believe in all His nature, how can He be in me? |

9862 | God's love not important in daily life | Rom 12:12 | Searcher56 | 8051
StrongCare, God's love is important in daily life. Without His love, which is a commitment, not a romantic or a brotherly type ... I would be down. We do need to be careful when we say "God loves you" to people we try to comfort. They may not understand. We need to show them that we are committed to their good. Somethimes it only take being their with them (time). He does love the world ... and even before we answered His call, He loved us (Rom 5:8). Look at what He has done to Israel - His people. He loves them and He sent them into exile. Why do the good and innocent suffer, as they do in Sudan? I do not know the specific answer. But, if He did not love them, as Hank said, they would not have hope. Their faith needs to remain strong. We need to stand along side with them in prayer. |

9863 | God's love not important in daily life | Rom 12:12 | Searcher56 | 8050
Hank ... we need to have hope added to love, as you said. Plus, faith. Faith, hope and love. His love is a commitment. He is faithful. You were there for your daughter. You showed her love, faith and gave her hope. She probably did not understand it. One day he will. Why did Job suffer ... to show us that suffering is not always a result of doing wrong. It is to show us that He loves us. That we sustain us. It is to show us He is faithful and hopefully our faith will grow. We need to maintain hope - knowing that our suffering will be short and we have enternal life with Him, without suffering. |

9864 | what does this text mean | Is 55:8 | Searcher56 | 8049
glory777, I'd start in verse 6, maybe include the whole chapter, verse 8 starts with the word "for." I agree this is awesome. We need to seek call on and turn to the Lord ... He will have mercy and freely pardon us (vv. 6-7). This is what we need to remember when we worship Him ... that is go before Him on our knees and bowing low. His thoughts and ways are superior - what is the difference between the top of Everest and the heavens? The baby-parent illustration is good. |

9865 | Paul's teaching: Inerrant or Fallible? | 2 Tim 3:16 | Searcher56 | 8048
It is possible that his extra-biblical teachings were. Only One was correct in their teaching ALL the time - the Lord Jesus Christ. We do not know what he said outside what is recorded in God's Word, so we cannot say what his errors were. |

9866 | Paul's extra-biblical teaching inerrant? | 2 Tim 3:16 | Searcher56 | 8047
Lionstrong, was any of Paul's extra-biblical teaching inerrant? I believe Scripture is 100 percent God breathed. But, Paul and others taught other things that were not recorded in God's Word. My answer to Hank's question is that is is possible that his teachings not recorded in the Bible could have errors ... But, we do not know, since we do not know what he said. No one is correct all the time in their teaching all the time. Most of the teachers will agree with that. |

9867 | How did Paul know they were checking? | NT general Archive 1 | Searcher56 | 7939
What does "they searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so" mean? In the NIV it says "to see if what Paul said was true". Both give the same meaning. I'll let you answer YES, NO or DON'T KNOW ... 1. Does this mean they were checking what Paul said? 2. Did they tell Pual they were checking him out? 3. Was Paul always right? 4. If he was wrong, dis he accept what they said? 5. Do you know where Paul talks about false teachers? ... if so, what did he say to do to them? Again, I say it is by implication. |

9868 | How did Paul know they were checking? | NT general Archive 1 | Searcher56 | 7928
It does not SAY it anywhere. My question to you is, how did Paul know they were checking him out? |

9869 | Churchianity to be answered: | NT general Archive 1 | Searcher56 | 7919
Radioman ... it is by implication. What do you think they did it they would of found something not true? Gossip about how Paul was wrong or go to him? Then, if the later, would Paul say he knows better or make adjustments? I am not judging every church around the world. I need to know the truth so well, that when there is error, that I will notice it. I do not wait "in the bushes" looking/ waiting for error. I want to hear nothing but the truth. So when I think there is error, I speak up. The speaker has the chance to show me why he is right. There are times I have not seen what he was saying, so I adjusted my thought patterns. Most of the time I was correct. Some received correction, others refused. |

9870 | Melchizedek a preincarnate Christ? | Heb 7:3 | Searcher56 | 7918
Nolan ... "Made like" would say "was" or "is" if Melchizedek was a preincarnate appearance of Christ. Also, Abraham also saw the Lord, at least once (Gen 18:1ff). I would think he would of recgonized they were the same. There are some who said Melchizedek was a preincarnate appearance of Christ. It is a minor issue. |

9877 | Do W-F Twist The Bible? Acts 17:11 | John 10:27 | Searcher56 | 7897
Acts 17:11 may the verse you want. Word-Faith teaches some things that are Biblical, but, some are not. 'In brief, the teachings of these men may be summarized as follows: God created man in "God's class," as "little gods," with the potential to exercise the "God kind of faith" in calling things into existence and living in opportunity, however, by rebelling against God in the Garden and taking upon ourselves Satan's nature. To correct this situation, Jesus Christ became a man, died spiritually (thus taking upon Himself Satan's nature), went to Hell, was "born again," rose from the dead with God's nature again, and then sent the Holy Spirit so that the Incarnation could be duplicated in be-lievers, thus fulfilling their calling to be little gods. Since we are called to experience this kind of life now, we should be successful in every area of our lives. To be in debt, then, or be sick, or (as is often taught) be left by one's spouse, and not to have these problems go away by "claiming" God's promises, shows a lack of faith.' Source: Christian Research Institute (CRI) http://www.equip.org/free/DP075.htm Also read http://www.equip.org/free/DC755-2.htm and http://www.equip.org/free/DC755-2.htm PS I have listened to men who started teaching 100 percent from the Bible ... then they s-l-o-w-l-y twisted the Word, by adding their own flavor. I was able to see (some of) the errors. But, they refused to listen. When the elders, and the people thought I was wrong, I left. I was tempted to challange him during one message, but held my tongue. |

9878 | Christ 'made Himself nothing'? | Phil 2:6 | Searcher56 | 7893
Nolan, Jesus said in John 10:30 "I and my Father are one." He emptied Himself of His divine privileges, but not of His attributes He went from … … Creator to a creature, who was despised by His creation … Mansion in glory to a manger and grime, and no place to lay His head … Fellowship with the Father, the Holy Spirit, and the heavenly hosts of angels to friendship with prosititutes, theives, lepers, and outcasts … Directing to being directed - by His Father and men … to the death on the cross. |

9879 | Churchianity to be answered: | NT general Archive 1 | Searcher56 | 7892
You are right ... there are no perfect churches, we are are sinners and selfish. You ask great questions: - How much of the Lord's presence is in the church? It depends on the people. Most of us have other concerns. - To what degree is Jesus Christ being given first place? We talk about careers, children and concerns more than Christ. - Is Jesus really being glorified in this place? No ... because if He was people would come to see the fire (of the burning bush). - Who is really in control, is it the pastor, the deacons, the people, or is it the Spirit of God? It depends on the church … but, I have not seen a true theocracy. People may think He reigns, but I think they base that on feelings, not facts. - Which church do you believe that the Lord is most pleased with? The one who is obedient, in love, faith and hope. -- They love Him first, with all their heart, soul, mind and strength. The love others as they love themselves. -- The live by faith and it grows daily as they study the Word. All three are seen by men, in and out of the church. -- They do not lose the hope, knowing He's working in and through them for the good of all and that He will return. - Are we in the will of God? Usually not … and we have had the opportunity to deny or die for Him. - Are we related to the Body in some way? We are suppose to be. But the eye does want to work with the foot. - Are we allowing Jesus Christ to be Lord of our lives? You mean give up all my rights? We do not have the time. - Are we living for Him or just living for ourselves? Most the latter, we think we have to do so much. I, too, have come across people who refuse correction … even after someone with more religious letters after his name said they were wrong. The Bereans did it to Paul and he accepted it (Acts 17:11). |

Time is amazing. With the improvement in how fast we can get to work and elsewhere, we are spending less time with our family, much less, with God. I sent you a copy of my paper.
