281 | when did jesus ascend into heaven? | Acts | Searcher56 | 229462
Scripture ... Mar 16:19; Act 1:9-11, 7:55; 1Ti 3:16 ... Jesus was went to heaven after his resurrection (Mar 16:19; Act 1:9-11) and was seen by Stephen (Act 7:55) and is a confession (1Ti 3:16). In Luke 23:43 Jesus said, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise." Some think that is heaven (2Co 12:4, Rev 2:7). In John 20:17, He says he had not yet ascended to His Father. It may be that He had gone up to another place. Searcher |

283 | bible say about interracial marriages? | 2 Cor 6:14 | Searcher56 | 229448
Interracial marriages 1. First, I don’t mean to offend anyone. We need to define “race”. Is it “Red, Yellow, Black and White”, “Occidental, Oriental and Negroid”, or based on the three sons of Noah, Japheth, Shem, Ham. The latter were forefather of the northern, middle and southern peoples, respectively. From Shem, we have the Israelites. 2. God forbade marriages to the Ites (also from Shem), because they were not believers in Him (Exo 34:10-16; Deu 7:1-4; Ezr 9:10-15) ... as pointed out we are to do the same (2Co 6.14). … Note Exodus 12:48-49 allows a stranger to join, and by implication marry once he is circumcised. Rahab was allowed to marry an Israelite (Matt 1:5), Boaz married Ruth, a Moabite (Rut 4:13). Both women, daughters of Shem, who were strangers who joined the Israelites. The Moabites were from Lot (Abraham’s nephew) (Gen 12:5)) and his firstborn daughter (Gen 19:34-37). 3. It was Miriam and Aaron who condemned Moses marrying a Cushite, a daughter of Ham (Gen 10:6), but God was displeased at Miriam and Aaron, not Moses (Num 21:1-9). Solomon was the son of Bathsheba, who may have been a "daughter of Sheba" (Gen 10:7). David was never condemned for marrying outside of his race, but was for his method (2Sa 12:9-10). Solomon was condemned (1Ki 11:10-11) because his wives turned his heart after other gods (vs 3) … and he wasn’t to any foreign women (vs 2). Read Deuteronomy 17:16-17. 4. God's desire and perspective is that we all are one in Christ (Jhn 17:11; Gal 3:26-29; Eph 2:15; Col 3:11). Searcher |

287 | What is meant by anointed? | 1 Sam 10:1 | Searcher56 | 229424
Continuing ... 1 John 2:27 is another reference of the spiritual anointing. Revelation 3:18 could be looked at as spiritual, too. Christ was anointed and is our High Priest (Luk 4:17; Act 10:37; Heb 1:9, 3:1, 4:14-15, 5:1-10, 6:20, 7:1, 7:26, 8:1-3, 9:7-25, 13:11). Looking at the OT, priests were anointed for service (Exo 28:41, 29:1, 30:30, 40:13-15; Lev 6:1, 7:35-36, 8:12; Num 3:3), as well as kings (Jdg 9:7-15; 1Sa 9:16, 10:1, 15:1, 15:17, 16:3, 16:12-13, 24:6, 26:9-11; 2Sa 1:14-16, 3:39, 12:7, 19:21; 1Ki 1:34-45, 19:15-16; Psa 20:6) … it was to consecrate them for their service. Elisha was anointed to be a prophet (1Ki 19:16). Jacob the anointed the pillar at Bethel (Gen 31:13). After we fast we are anoint our head and wash our face (Mat 6:17). It is to get clean, as seen in Psalm 23:5. David anointed himself after mourning so he could worship (2Sa 12:20). Anointing is medicinal, Jesus anointed the sick (Mar 6:13, Jhn 9:11) ... we are to do the same (Jam 5:14). It also is used for burial (Mar 14:8, 16:1). There are several times anointing is seen in the Bible. Searcher |

288 | What is meant by anointed? | 1 Sam 10:1 | Searcher56 | 229423
God's day to you, Ms. N. O., and welcome to the SBF, First, Benny Hinn and others think there is a contemporary concept of anointing, based on Acts 1:8. Hinn says "The anointing is the power of God" (Hinn, Benny. The Anointing. Nashville: Thomas Nelson. 1992. 74.) ... since Holy Spirit anoints the believer and empowers the believer; therefore, anointing equals being empowered ... but anointing is position not power. 290 | Continued slander | 1 Cor 4:13 | Searcher56 | 229326
God's day to you, searchingfollower, and welcome to the SBF, As I was typing, I am torn between if I should answer. This may be giving counsel, whih we avoid at the SBF. So with that, I say go seek wise Christian counsel ... and if there is someone that knows you both, it may be better. Here are some more verses: "Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, a people in whose heart is My law; do not fear the reproach of man, nor be dismayed at their revilings" (Isa 51:7). "Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me" (Mat 5:11). "If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you" (1Pe 4:14). For me, when I deal with difficult people -I pray in the morning, asking God for insight ... and again before I meet before we meet, when I know we will. -I carefully ask others to pray for me. -When we meet, I listen to God, for what to do and say ... for His glory and that the other one knows I am a Christian by my love. 291 | How did Moses know he was Jewish? | Ex 2:8 | Searcher56 | 229318
God's day to you, spriceles2, and I add my welcome, The Bible does not say how Moses knew that the Hebrew (not Jewish at this point) people were his people, expect God did tell him (Exo 3:6). I am not sure of the soure of the movies, like The Ten Commandments, where he finds out in the palace. Pharaoh's daughter knew he was Hebrew. The Bible doesn't even say it was because of the swaddling cloth, as The Ten Commandments says. Some say could be the Egyptians of the time looked different than the Hebrew, but Jethro's daughter's thought he was Egyptian (Exo 2:19). His mother may have told him before she sent him back to the palace (Exo 2:7-10). "When Moses had grown up, that he went out to his brethren and looked on their hard labors; and he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren" (Exo 2:11). But did he know at that time or was that the point he knew he was different? Searcher |

293 | Defending themselves or accusing Jesus? | John 8:41 | Searcher56 | 229314
God's day to you, biblicalman, Unless you can prove what you said based on the Torah about betrothed/engaged, you have no standing. The Mishnah is Pharisaic oral tradition and is not valid. I even proved that you forgot about the '3 year old'. When you excluded that - I am concerned. That point is important. Without it, one could think he was talking about someone who could produce children. If you reread the Scripture I cited, you'll see that betrothal sex did not happen, evn could imply it was forbidden. Your weakness is that you refuse to listen/read. As with the generations, I will not waste any more time with you an this matter. You may continue, if you wish, but as with the generations, I will not answer. Searcher |

294 | Defending themselves or accusing Jesus? | John 8:41 | Searcher56 | 229304
God's day to you, biblicalman, Unlike the generations discussion, you think this "subject appears to be getting out of hand". I have Biblical proof to show you are incorret, as well as a link to the Jewish Encyclopedia and another link. There is a difference between a betrothal/engagement in the Bible ('aras (Hebrew) mnesteuo (Greek)) and engagement of today. An engagement today is an unenforceable promise, while a betrothal is. You are partially right, the two ways out were divorce (Deu 24:1) or her death. But, they were not husband (man) and wife (woman). Deuteronomy 22:24 is the only exception of the verses you cited. The wife is what was wanted ... the betrothal/engagement was the process. If betrothed woman had sex with a man other than her husband, the Bible gives the death penalty. If she consents (does not cry out), both are killed (Deu 22:23-24). If she cries out, only the man dies (vv 25-27). Note that if she is not betrothed, the man is forced to marry her (vv 28-29, Exo 22:16). Yes, sexual intercourse is a way a woman is acquired as a wife. But, were they betrothed/engaged? If he finds out she is not a virgin, and the charges are true, she is stoned to death (vv 13-21). This implies they had no sex before the wedding. The man could put her away (divorce her), if he wanted (Mat 1:19). There was a procession where bridegroom would come inviting friends and family (Gen 29:22; Mat 22:1-10, 25:1-13; Luk 14:8; Jhn 2:2). It was only after the wedding feast that Jacob went into Leah, thinking it was Rachel (Gen 29:22-23). Deuteronomy 20:7 shows that betrothed man lived in his own tent and was not “shacking up”. She was still in her father’s tent (Gen 21:21). Hebrews 13:4 says “Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.” So those who are betrothed should not have sex, since they are not married. The Mishnah is Pharisaic oral traditions and they twisted the Torah to their wants and whims. Your Rabbi Joseph quote is missing "of the age of 3 years" http://www.angelfire.com/bug/answering/age3.htm ... I hope you disapprove of this. I DO. 295 | Looking of resources on Altar Ministry | 1 Tim 2:1 | Searcher56 | 229301
God's day to you, EdB, For me, when I hear someone mention a need, I ask if we can get away and pray. If it is a female, I make sure there it is in a place where others can see. I ask if I can write it down, so I can remember I ask if I can share their needs with my friends ... how confidential they want the request. I ask if they would like to get together in a few days or a week ... and if they want others to join. I maintain a list. Also, if I hear/see of a need, like the floods after Ireene ... I add them to my list. Scripture ... Gen 1:26-27, 5:1; Eph 4:24; Col 3:10 ... God's day to you, michelle72 and welcome to the SBF, Man was reated in the image of God (Gen 1:26-27, 5:1) ... and we are to be His image (Eph 4:24; Col 3:10). However, we do not know what God pictorially looks like. When we see pictures of God/Jesus it is based on what the maker wants. Note that Seth was the image of Adam, not God (Gen 5:3). Searcher |

300 | What does the bible say about near death | Acts 14:19 | Searcher56 | 229238
Scripture ... Act 14:19-20; 2Co 12:1-4 ... God's day to you, DNR, and welcome to the SBF, While I think Paul may have died (Act 14:19-20), his acount of being in heaven (2Co 12:1-4) may not have been as the result. Others do believe the passage in Corinthians is about his death experience in Acts. Jesus died and returned to life. He is the only one who stayed alive: * The widow's son (1Ki 17:19-24). * The Shunammite's son (2Ki 4:32-35). * A man whose body had been placed in Elisha's tomb (2Ki 13:21). * Lazarus (Joh 11:43-44). * The ruler's daughter (Mat 9:23-26). * Many people at the moment when Jesus died(Mat 27:51-53) * Tabitha (Act 9:36-43). * Eutychus (Act 20:9-10). The Rich Man and Lazarus (Luk 16:14-31) is a parable about two who have died. Searcher |
