421 | cannot out-sin the grace of God? | Heb 4:1 | Scribe | 58821
Hebrews 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. I am not sure what the phrase was meant to say "you cannot out-sin the grace of God." You cannot sin so much that God cannot save you. Or let me say it like this. No man has sinned to such a degree that the blood of Christ on the cross could not pay for it. However Faith must be exercised on the part of the believer and Faith that brings salavation teaches us to deny ungodly lusts. The Grace of God is such that if we exercise this true faith we are promised salvation. If on the other hand we do not exercise faith but rather sin continously with no heart of repentance and faith indulging in the lusts of the flesh, then how can we say we have faith? And even if we once had faith, but choose not to have faith today then we have no promise of Grace. Grace is only to the believer. And a believer is defined differently in the Bible than many so called believers might think. This is the definition of saving faith... Titus 2:11-12 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; |

422 | does the Holy spirit lead us to certain | Heb 4:12 | Scribe | 84956
I can testify that God also lead me to the best scripture for me personally at the time. When I was born again, I did not have a bible, nor was I able to get one for some weeks. However I found a few tornout pages of the book of James on the ground that someone had discarded. So for the first few weeks of my conversion I lived on the life giving verses in the book of James. The Lord knew that the first thing I needed was a proper understanding of both faith and how to control my tongue by faith. To this day I see that the Lord laid a sure foundation in my life in a personal way. The Lord knows every personality, and every flesh pattern and individual has sown to, and the Holy Spirit will lead and direct us into that area of scripture we most need to study at a given time. It is better to pray and step out on faith obeying God's leading in your study of the Word than it is to simply follow study plans suggested by others. Now those study plans are good, I am writing one myself, and every christian ought to work through a complete structured theological foundational series at least once, but nothing can replace a Spirit lead study on topics, theology and themes in the Bible. You will sense a strong desire and hunger to study a book such as Ecclesiastes and you will not really understand why, and as you step out in faith it will open up to you and you will see things that God is wanting to show you that you may had ignored for years if left to study plans suggested by men, which rarely include Ecclesiastes. God Bless you as you Study His Word. |

424 | What is baptism | Heb 6:2 | Scribe | 63410
From this verse alone we see that baptisms as subject of doctrine is plural. Now in comparing this to Ephesians 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,.. we see that there is One baptism as it relates to the baptism into Christ that each believe must be able to testify he has in order to be a believer.. Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ... But we know that Paul did not mean there was no other baptism mentioned in the bible because we see this passage in Acts...Acts 19:3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.Acts 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.... And not only do we see that there was the baptism of water in the Name of Jesus (or Father Son and Holy Ghost) but also that there was this Baptism of the Holy GHost which in all points was an entirely seperate event than that of water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ. Now there is also a worthy study to be done on the very meaning of the word baptism and that this was not a new concept to the Jews at the time that John came baptizing. I mean they had many baptisms or washings as purification ceremonies and they understood the idea of baptism as a religious observance. However they usually had methods of washing hands, or parts of the body. To do it as a whole body washing like John was doing was a statement of agressive intensity of conversion which of course was just like how John Preached. A going all the way.. a bringin forth fruit meet for repentance.. no more of this playing around with religion.. A radical making the rough places smooth, and crooked places straight... type of commitment. A taking hold on the kingdom of God by violent faith and not letting go until God blesses you with a change of heart. This is the whole body baptism. But It of course takes faith in Jesus Christ having paid the price for us in order for us to enter into to that rest of ceasing from our own works to trust in Him and therefore we identify with His death and resurrection in the water baptism in the name of Jesus. So on the one hand we have John the Baptists baptism which speaks of that human desire that we do have the ability to express which is a whole hearted going all the way with God.. and then you have the Baptism in the name of Jesus in water which is different than the baptism of John and that is that you are saying ... though Johns baptism was a good start.. the whole hearted human effort to get right with God... the baptism of Jesus is that faith that you accept His death burial and resurrection to make you righteous and already earned by Christ. Then you rise up clean and holy before you have even done one good work (baptism in water is not a work) and you go forth rejoicing and doing the will of God that has made you righteous by faith. I hope this blessed you. It blessed me to write it. :) |

425 | Why is "laying on of hands" so important | Heb 6:2 | Scribe | 63415
Some excellent posts have been given to you so far and I am ecouraged by such thorough posts. This is what will make this forum a treasure for many people world wide. One thing I would like to add is that though it seems obvious that Paul is wanting to take them on unto perfection, the list he gives has been treated by the church for centuries as the main meat of theological teachings. So if these be the first principles then I am wondering when someone is going to start teaching like they are moving on to perfection. Instead it seems that many spend their entire ministries on this list. Than being said I think the real key here is in the NASB amplified way of stating it...[These are all matters of which you should have been fully aware long, long ago.] See it is not that these are ideas of less significance, how can foundational priniciple of oracle of Christ be considered a non important issue. The idea is that "YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO KNOW THIS BY NOW... do we really have to go back and lay this foundation again.. What do you really need to go back and get born again AGAIN? Are you needing to learn all the things you learned when you first came into this Life?" As you read the passage you see him say as much when he speaks about a person that has known these things and goes back to living the old life anyway.. The main idea seems to be that it is a sad thing to have to keep dealing with the basics of "you should stop sinning and live in holiness..." Or.. when you get baptized you are buried with Him that you might walk in newness of life... There is a time when you should be focusing on the newness of life not the identifying with Christ on the cross as a constant repenting of sins... So putting it in this light (you should have already moved on..) then the laying on of hands would fit that which we see in Acts when the apostles laid hands on new believers and they recieved the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This was a beginning thing, now they are to walk in that baptism of the Holy Spirit and all that the Spirit brings. Why look for another laying on of hands.. or think you need a new initializing all the time.. the initializing experience is good and to be sought, but then you need to quit focusing on that laying on of hands experience that helped you get into the baptism of the Holy Ghost to begin with, and move on to the many gifts that the Spirit brings and understand what it means to edify in Love others. This is the way I see this passage and I hope it helps to add to the pool of knowledge. |

426 | made partakers | Heb 6:4 | Scribe | 63514
It is a good warning, and Peter was careful to remind the saints to be sober and vigilant. I am much encouraged by the clear instructions Peter gives on how we can be 100 perecent sure we will not fall. 2 Peter 1:5-11 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. |

427 | Question about Church on Wednesday night | Heb 10:25 | Scribe | 43194
Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. For the saint that knows the Lord and communes with the Holy Spirit, it is not about which day we meet with the saints for mutual fellowship. However it is critical that we assemble. We find that God has ordained that He reveals himself to us through the other members of the Body and not just in our own prayer or study time. Now if you are on a desert Island or in jail with no other fellowship God will still reveal everything about Himself to you even though you are not in contact with any other person or teacher. However if a saint has a choice about it in that they are not is jail or cut off from others, then they must assemble with others out of love. If they do not then God will allow them to suffer a slowing of their spiritual growth until they learn the lesson that they need the Body. If your church is so boring and unfruitful that going to Wednesday night service is a "test of endurance" and you only do it to say "you did it." then you most likely need to find a church that is more full of the Spirit of God and is letting God control the services. Once you experience the gifts of the Spirit in an assembly of saints (prophecy, words of wisdom, words of knowledge, etc) you find that God is speaking to His people and you do not want to miss out on it. Or if go to a church where the Teaching is on the level of the mature instead of the babes you long to go back and hear more. Unfortunately too often pastors buy into the misunderstanding that their people do not want to hear challenging teachings so they teach on the level of the babes in christ and thus their congregations stay as babes. But I am on my soap box now and I will stop. May God Bless you in your Study of His Word. |

428 | is esau eternally damned? | Heb 12:15 | Scribe | 42670
Hebrews 12:15-17 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears. Very Good question, and one that deserves an answer. This is one of the most sobering passages in the new testament. The reason that Esau was condemned was that he had a heart that considered the temporary lusts of the flesh more to be desired and satisfied than to desire and seek after eternal promises of God by faith. This passages warns christians to take heed that they not have this kind of heart. What it means is that we must continue to have the heart of Jacob that held on to the Angel of the Lord and would not be denied blessing from God. If in a time of temptation to sin against God you remember that you are in a sense choosing a bowl of soup for the divine presence and promises of God it will help you to resist and will cause the power of the lust to fade. If you did fall into a sin would you be eternally damned? We all know that is not true or no one would be saved. However Esau was not condemned because he did such a thing one time. Esau had a heart condition that he did not repent of. When the passage says he sought it with tears it does not mean that Esau sincerely cryed out to God but God would not forgive him. It is a reference to when Esau cried after he found out that Jacob had recieved the blessing that should have been Esau's as the first born, when he came to Isaac and found out Jacob had already been there disguised as Esau. Esau wept, Genesis 27:34 And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my father. .. he was seeking a change in the situation.. He wept but not to the Lord in repentance but to Isaac saying.. Bless me.. even ME... and then vowed to kill Jacob after he found out there was no remedy for loosing his birth right. Esau had no one but himself to blame, but you never read of Esau acknowledging this. If he had of he would have been forgiven. Esau cried seeking to change the situation but not seeking to be forgiven by God. What lesson is Paul applying to saints? Paul says we should be careful to make sure such a heart is not found in us? If it were not possible then Paul would not have been inspired to warn us. The truth is that satan will attempt this strategy against the saints. We are not ignorant of his devices thanks to scriptures like these. May God bless you in your study of His Word. |

429 | Christians? | James 1:22 | Scribe | 85090
James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. Matthew 7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? I think that we often hear people call something salvation that isnt. What is "accepting Jesus as your saviour?" I do not think you will find the terminology or anything close to it in the New Testament. It almost sounds like we reluctantly say.. ok God I will give you a chance.. I will accept you. Oh no, my brethren, this is far from the salvation that the Bible teaches. It is us that need acceptance. The cry of the heart of a saved man is not.."I will accept you now... I think I am ready for something better... " But rather. OH Dear Lord, Please Accept me, though I am not worthy or the least of your mercies!" This is the prayer that God will hear and this is the person that will rise up justified, and begin to bring forth fruit worthy of repentance. The enlightened soul can barely look up toward heaven in shame at the condition of his soul. Luke 18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. Luke 18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified. No it is He that accepts us and we are glad, we are so glad we do not want to be found in sin again but seek to please Him and do His word. This is the saved man. What if you see a man that “accepted” Jesus by signing a prayer card at the church alter. But he makes no attempt to please the Lord, or shows no gratitude in daily life for salvation. What is he saved from? If ceases not from daily sins of the old life, then how can we call it saved. The very word has it’s original New Testament usage in this verse. Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. If they are not showing any change they are not saved from their sins. Then they are still in darkness and not yet translated into the kingdom of light. |

430 | Theological Question | James 1:25 | Scribe | 104078
James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. Let me first make it clear that on many occasions in the New Testament we are also told that we will be blessed if we obey the Lord. So it is not only an Old Testament saying. As to persecution, that also is a blessing. Matthew 5:11-12 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. It may be that a person not used to thinking in eternal things may think that being persecuted is a curse, but Jesus calls it a blessing, because to be persecuted for your faith will also cause you to recieve eternal rewards. The person who thinks in eternal scope of things really believes eternity is just around the corner and they know that any temporary persecution in this life, even if it last your whole life (which is rare) is less than a blink of an eye compared to the eternity that awaits them. Theologically God has set things in such a way that the saints will be persecuted for their faith and testimony. Why? Because God wants to bless you. With eternal reward. Why? Because persecution weeds out the fakers, and shakers, and false brethren and generally leaves only the true saints purified as gold. God Loves you and wants to sift out of you things you may not realize are needing to be sifted. Nothing like a healthy dose of persecution to see if you are loving and kind or full of the wrath of man. And we know that wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. Many do not experience persecution today and so they teach or say that not every generation of saints suffer persecution but just sometimes in history there will be such times and we should be lucky we are not dealing with it now. I say they are in error, all godly shall suffer persecution and if they do not know any or have never known any it could be that they should examine whether they are living godly. In this generation those that live like the disciples in Acts, who would preach publically as they did ,and contend with false teachers or call men to repent, or who will travel the world in missionary fervor will suffer persecution. Just ask them, they will tell you it is so today as well as then. May God bless you as you study His Word. |

431 | Is salvation by faith only scriptural? | James 2:14 | Scribe | 54624
Since we know that James and Paul could not be teaching different truths and both be inspired by God we start off with the assumption that James would be adding to the thought about the fact that a man is justified by faith alone and not by the deeds of the law by explaining to those that would twist faith into something other than the kind of Faith that Paul was teaching James makes it clear the the Faith that is saving Faith shows forth evidence or works , but what did James give as an example? Sabbath keeping? No, Baptism in water? No, Circumcision? Aboslutely not. James uses examples of walking in love toward others in need as an example that you have been changed by saving Faith. So if we would be in agreement with both Paul and James, we will believe that we are the righteousness of God by faith in Jesus Christ and as we go forth we look for opportunities to love a person in need.
432 | Friendship TO the world not WITH it? | James 4:4 | Scribe | 84456
It is hardly possible for one born from above to ever be the "friend" of the world. Those that once took you in as one of their own will no longer own you as their friend. If you walk in the Light your witness will expose their darkness and this, they will hate you for. There is nothing you can do to change this, nor should you try. In all your interaction with the world it should be obvious that you love them but also obvious that you are uncompromisingly devoted to Christ and the way of holiness. This will cause you to constantly reproove their deeds by your very lifestyle of refraining from doing the same things they do. Loving them enough to turn down all invitations to questionable activities will cause them to either consider you unsociable (as they did the first church) or to convict them of their unlawful deeds. However even ..."When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up." Psalms 27:10 May God Bless you and keep you in the fulness of His Spirit. |

433 | What causes a holier than thou attitude? | James 4:4 | Scribe | 84497
Part 2 of 2 Those that give mental assent to these doctrines will not be in the Light, or part of this “company of the Light bearers” they will simply have more knowledge and this knowledge itself will be their judge in that day. Those that come to the Light daily and in humble repentance ask the Lord Christ to expose any area of darkness and give them grace to overcome all things that may grieve the Lord, will be given great Grace and Glory and will shine with the Light of the Spirit, they will grow spiritually, their illumination by the Spirit will be unhindered and they will grow into the image of Christ day by day. There is nothing more irritating to a religious man who does not truly walk with God than to see a poor and humble saint who has no formal education in religious matters being used by God in the ministry of the Word bearing the fruit of holiness in both their own life and the lives of those that they minister to. It becomes imperative to the “Pharisee” to find fault in the area of religious doctrine in order to justify their own darkness, and to discount the Light that is undeniable in the ministry of the saint not called by man but by God. In the same way the world will hate the holy saint because a “Christian” they can tolerate, and the world especially delights in the “Christian” that will run with them to the same excess of riot, for in these they find a consolation for their own darkness and a temporary quieting of their conscience, not so much as you may think, (because they conclude that if the Christian sees no fault with it must be ok) that is the mind of the children of light who are under temptatioin to sin, no, the children of the darkness are usually thinking more in terms of (“just as I thought.. this ‘christian’ is not better than me.. I knew he was not for real, “holier than thou” that’s all he is.) And so the world accuses the compromising Christian, the one that actually runs with them to the same excess of riot as being the one who is “holier than thou.” Those that walk in true holiness, who know their God, who Love with the Love of Christ, who are not afraid to touch and converse with sinners, but who will always seek to please God at any cost, these holy saints are not so often accused of having “holier than thou attitudes” at the compromisers are. The truly holy rather strike fear and terror in the heart of the world and the world would rather silence their witness altogether and so the world has attempted to do this from the blood of righteous Able extending not only to the blood of Zacharias, but also the blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ and every martyr since the birth of the Church. The Lord is coming soon for a Bride without spot and wrinkle, who’s eye is single in devotion to Jesus Christ and who as a result of that single eye is full of Light. Shine Forth my brothers and sisters and without trying you will indeed reprove the world of darkness, this is of God and not of us, and has a redemptive purpose for those that will come to the Light, and a just and judgment purpose for those that will reject that Light. |

434 | What causes a holier than thou attitude? | James 4:4 | Scribe | 84498
Part 1 of 2 Thank you for your words of encouragement. Yes we are that Incense and it is the Holy Spirit in us that makes us so. The words of Christ that.. "... every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved." [John 3:20]..tells us that if we indeed walk in the light - if we abide in the True Vine - we will become like the Light and like the Vine, shining with the same Light of truth and holiness. It is not an attitude we push forward to "appear" as though we are in the Light, this would never reprove the darkness. A "holier than thou attitude" reproves only the person doing it, as not having any Light. The Light of the Lord is the Love of the Lord (full of Grace and Truth) and this Love itself will cause those that do not want to stop sinning to hate you. He who has a "holier than thou attitude" is in need of an understanding of what holiness (biblical new testament holiness,) really is. It is not that of being uncompromisingly strict in a list of rules and regulations dictated by a particular consensus of men of which "laws" are applicaple today (line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little,). This is not the true meaning of holiness. To walk in the light as He is in the Light has everything to do with intimacy with Christ Himself and to be completely controlled by His Love shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. This produces an uncompromising act of devotion, a transformation of the inner man that would rather die than to deliberately grieve God's heart with sin. The Holy Spirit, the Illuminator gives you Light and you know what is and is not pleasing to God. Any hint of grieving the Spirit within and your Love for the Lord (given to you by the Spirit) causes you to shrink back in horror at the thought. Then also this Love for others will cause you to be sensitive to their lack of knowledge and without condemning them in their ignorance and darkness you will nevertheless refrain from partaking of so many of this present worlds "innocent amusements" which are not innocent at all. This will cause you to be labeled a "puritan", "holier than thou", and many other things, and yet you have said nothing "with words" to reprove the world, but simply because you do not run with them to the same excess of riot, that will be cause enough for them to speak evil of you. The very act of abiding in the vine will produce in you the fruit of the Divine stamp. This will make you different than the world. A friend to the world? As in loving those that are in the world? Of course. No better friend does a man have than a saint who knows what it means to be uncompromisingly holy. Will the world receive you as a friend? Remember what Jesus said. “ If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.” And also John writes in his epistle.. “Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.” And this he said in context of loving your brother. The more you love those that are in the world, the more you walk in the light, the more you shine, the more you reprove the darkness (not with words but by your very life and not you but the Spirit in you), and the more they will hate you. Those that are called, and those that choose Life will come to the Light, they will see in you the Way to Life and will want to have their deeds exposed. They will come to have their bad deeds exposed so that they can find the remedy, and they will come so that they might find Good Deeds to do, which it is in their heart to do, but they know not how. |

437 | How can God let us go through pain? | 1 Pet 2:24 | Scribe | 42802
I have seen cancer patients healed by faith in Jesus Christ and through prayer for healing. The Doctors might call it by names such as remission but if it does not come back it would be the same as a healing and so not worth arguing over. I remember when we prayed for a lady who is now healed. She had others around her that were planning her funeral. These people said they were Christians, and they did pray for her, but they never prayed for her to be healed, because they thought that would be too hard for God. OK, honestly I am sure they never said those words, but that is why Christians do not believe that God heals today, they simply find it hard to believe that God can heal. Oh yes they believe it happened in the NT. But then that was 2000 years ago and to acknowledge you believe that it happened then does not require any faith. I know that is a strange sounding statement but it is true nevertheless. It takes no faith at all to say thay you believe the story about Lazuras is true, or of the blind man Bartimaeus. But ask them to pray for this dear sister that was suffering from cancer to be healed like in the stories of the Bible and they quickly try to fish up an doctrine about how God turned in his healing card around 90 AD. I will tell you that many suffer and die becuase no one will pray for healing. Now that being said many might die and not be healed. I will not say it is always about not having faith. Sometimes if a person is ready to go to heaven (they are born again and fellowship with Christ in holiness) they may be healed by dieing. For the death of the saint is precious in the eyes of the Lord. Someone has called it the 'ultimate healing.' But if a person does not know the Lord and has sown to the flesh all their lives is God culpable if the sinner suffers in agony and disease? God forbid. The warning has been sounded for these many centuries, that if a man sows to the flesh of the flesh they shall reap corruption. But who are we to judge? you ask. Whether we judge the reason for human suffering or silently look on, the laws of reaping and sowing continue,. seed time and harvest.. cold and heat.. And whether we are honest and recognize that we are always more to blame for human suffering .. or we decide to belligerently blame God in the light of all the warnings issued for these thousands of years.. either way, God's voice will be heard, and in the end God will be justified, and found True, and righteous, and Just, and man found to be the blame. About the woman that was healed cancer... I was there when believers in the Word of God came to the prayer meeting and laid hands on her and spoke an abundance of scriptures on healing until faith arose in her heart and she was healed. I remember when some who were there kept trying to cast doubt saying .. "god does not always heal... and it may not be his will to heal.." and these saints were rebuked in love and asked to only pray scripture. After that the prayer changed and she was healed. In the bible there is more than one example when doubters are made to leave a room. I cannot explain why God has set it up that way. But He has. Often we receive not because we ask not. You think God would withhold blessing from someone because they did not ask? I think we withhold it from ourselves when we do not ask. Faith pleases God, not passive indifference. And the more fervent the faith, the greater the results. If when you pray for sick people you ask those that are there to only pray healing scriptures, then what happens is that the prayers turn to positive faith prayers. May God bless you in your study of His Word. |

438 | Did Jesus decend into hell? | 1 Pet 3:18 | Scribe | 84506
The real foundation of the doctrine comes (as all doctrine does) from the Old Testament as well as the New Testament. It is not a doctrine that Peter began of his own revelation, but Peter spoke about that which was revealed to him about Christ in the Old Testament. Acts 2:27-31 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. And so we see from this Old Testament Prophesy what Peter understood by the Holy Spirit and the teaching of Christ (who showed them in all the prophets the things concerning the Christ) that it was prophesied that during those three days his soul would be in hell. Now as the Emmaus has already posted Peter also spoke of what Christ did during that time. And we also have the words of Paul who states that the act of descending into the lower parts of the earth was necessary to lead captivity captive. Ephesians 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. God Bless you as you study His Word. |

Is this a question? Are you asking if people who practice iniquity are really saved? The answer is no.
