382 | Was Melchizedek Jesus? | Genesis | Ray | 79754
Hi JLY, Welcome to the forum. I agree with the post from Emmaus. Personally, I could find nothing of value in comparing Scriptures when I counted Melchizedek pronouns as Deity. He definitely was a type of Christ. Hebrews 7:3, NKJ, "without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually." Or, my rendering for what it is worth (penciled in), "made like the Son of God, *He abides a *Priest perpetually." From the heart, Ray |

383 | Where in Matthew is "one man" mentioned? | Genesis | Ray | 85175
Hi, Where in Matthew do you find mention of "one man"? Romans 5:17, "For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the **One, Jesus Christ/." ...through the obediance of the One..." If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 1 Corinthians 15:45, "So also it is written, "The first MAN, ADAM, BECAME A LIVING SOUL." The last **Adam became a life-giving spirit. However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. 47,NKJ, "The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord/ from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood can not inherit the kingdom of (God); nor does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed--" Thanks be to God. See 1 Corinthians 15:57,58 and 2 Thessalonians 2:13,14. If we are slaves, instruments, weapons of righteousness for God we receive great benefit. Romans 6:22, "But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to (God), you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life." From the heart, Ray |

384 | Where in Matthew is "one man" mentioned? | Genesis | Ray | 85327
Hi mommapbs, I should have asked the author for chapter and verse and I also should have said that I could not find it. That wasn't one of my better posts. :-)) But I hope that one could see from the Scriptures that the last *Adam was the *One, Jesus Christ. Even the Lord of heaven and earth that Acts 17:24-26 speaks about. From the heart, Ray |

385 | Where in Matthew is "one man" mentioned? | Genesis | Ray | 85406
Hi mommapbs, I pondered these verses. 1) Acts 17:27, "that they should seek (God), if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though *He is not far from each one of us;..." Deut 4:7, "For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as is the Lord our God whenever we call on *Him?" 2) Acts 17:28, "for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your poets have said, 'For we also are *His offspring.' Being then the offspring of God/..." Deut.4:32, "Indeed, ask now concerning the former days which were before you, since the day that *God created man [Or, Adam] on the earth, and inquire from one end of the heavens to the other. Has anything been done like this great thing, or has anything been heard like it? Has any people heard the voice of God/ speaking from the midst of the fire, as you have heard it, and survived?" Luke 3:23, "And when He began His ministry, Jesus Himself was about thirty years of age, being supposedly the son [I would say "being as supposed the Son"] of Joseph, the [son] of Eli,...38 the [son] of Enosh, the [son] of Seth, the [son] of Adam, the [son] of God./" Is Adam the son or the Son of God? I believe that the first Adam was the [son] of God. Was Jesus the son of Joseph or the God and Father of Joseph? I believe that this Jesus, the last Adam, was the Son of Joseph, the heavenly Man. 3) Jeremiah 23:23, "Am I a God/ who is near," declares the Lord, "And not a God far off? "Can a man hide himself in hiding places, So (I) do not see him?" declares the Lord. "Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?" declares the Lord?" Ephesians 4:4, "There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord,/ one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of (Christ's) gift." What does all that suggest to you? (Of course all the parentheses and slashes and stars are mine for comparisons. The brackets are also mine.) From the heart, Ray |

386 | Where in Matthew is "one man" mentioned? | Genesis | Ray | 85441
Hi mommapbs, Thanks for your thoughts. I don't know if Acts 17:26 and 27 tell us that God causes man to seek Him. It is true that God made every nation of mankind to live on the face of the earth, and He gives to all life and breath and all things to seek Him. But does he "make" us or "cause" us to seek Him? I believe that there is enough in "all things" to cause us to seek Him. I hope that made sense. It makes sense to me. :)) re:"it makes more sense to keep the lower case...son of Joseph". The only Greek word of "son" is found in Luke 3:23, "being supposedly the son of Joseph, the [son] of Eli," and for the rest of the verses the ["son"] is understood. Thus, since we believe that Jesus is the Son of God, we must capitalize "Son" because it is the only choice to be capitalized. He is the Son of God and He is the Son of Joseph. I haven't convinced anyone yet that I know of, but that makes sense to me. There is a difference in outlook between the New King James and the NASB in this regard. Look at Matthew 22:42 for instance. Matthew 22:42, NASB, "What do you think about the Christ, whose son is He?" They said to Him, "[The son] of David." Matthew 22:42, NKJ, "saying, "What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?" They said to Him, "[The Son] of David." So I go with the NKJ in this regard. And I go further: if we know Jesus as the Son of David, then we can know Him as the Son of Joseph and the Son of Abraham. That's the sense that He is David's Son. He is David's Lord. Matthew 22:45, NKJ, "If David then calls Him, 'Lord', how is He his Son?" 46 And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore." Hi Radioman 2, Your statements which show the greatness of God in comparison to man get my "Amen". There is the spirit of man and the Spirit of God and our thoughts are not His thoughts. But I am thinking that just as we are to set our minds on the things of the Spirit, especially as believers who have His Spirit indwelling us, and who look to the law of the Spirit; have we not also received a spirit [sic] of adoption as sons? Romans 8:15. In other words, I differentiate between the Spirit who indwells and the spirit that is given to us without measure and which we should not quench. What are your thoughts on that? John 3:34 and 1 Thess 5:19. From the heart, Ray |

388 | Searching for the truth | Genesis | Ray | 91546
Hi FytRobert, You misquoted Radioman 2 by putting spirit in the lower case. Romans 8:11, NKJ, "But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His (Spirit) who dwells in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors--not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the **Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live." Colossians 1:27, "...which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. And we proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, that we may present every man complete in (Christ). And for this purpose also I labor, striving according to **His power, which mightily works within me." It is in the working of Christ and the power of the Spirit that we labor and live. The parentheses and stars are mine for comparison. From the heart, Ray |

Hi Fyt Robert, If you go to the Ask Questions Action section and type in Genesis 1:26 or 27 you will find that this has been discussed quite a bit. You wrote as a misquote or typo for Genesis 1:26, "God said "Let us make man in our images, in our likeness...". The "images" should be a singular "image". I also like to capitalize the "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness." I know that God is speaking in Genesis 1:26 and I know that man was made in the image of God because of verse 27. I like to think of "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness" as being the words of the Man, Jesus Christ. I compare this phrase with Colossians 1:16, "For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created by Him and for Him." I compare the phrase "Let Us..." with John 1:1,2, "...and the Word was God. This One was in the beginning..." 1) Scriptures that were offered in the other threads for Genesis 1:26 were these, and I offer them (with slashes) for comparisons. Genesis 1:27, "...in the image of God/ He created him; male and female He created them." Colossians 3:9,10, "Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, 10 and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One/ who created him-- 11 a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is all, and in all." 1 Corinthians 12:24b, "...But God/ has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that member which lacked, that there should be no division in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another... 27 Now you are Christ's body, and individually members of it." Ephesians 5:29, "for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ/ also does the church, 30 because we are members of His body." Ephesians 4:24, "and put on the new self which in the likeness of God/ has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth." 1 Samuel 2:2, "There is no one holy like the Lord, Indeed, there is no one besides Thee,/ Nor is there any rock like our God." 391 | who did cain marry? | Gen 1:1 | Ray | 39266
Hi Nolan, I find it hard to believe that you are thinking of disassociating yourself from the forum on such an important thread.:) You spoke with Hank earlier with perhaps 1 Corinthians in mind, perhaps not, but 1 Corinthians 3:9ff says, "For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building. According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building uon it. But let each man be careful how he builds on it." I would suggest that we go on to a more important subject in which you can spend your time in a more leading role. I'd like to see you laying down more of the foundational truths and stressing the positives if you are being discouraged by the negatives of the forum and disrespect of the Scriptures being shown by some participants. Now isn't the time to quit. Now is the time to bury cain...or whatever the saying is.:) The "according to the grace of God" of the verse that I quoted earlier reminds me of the "according to" occurances in the book of Ephesians. Would you express some thoughts on that before you continue thinking of saying "farewell?" From the hear, Ray |

392 | Two Creation Stories? | Gen 1:1 | Ray | 41700
Hi wordoer, You write that "God (Elohiym) is plural (signifying the Godhead) in the creation account of Genesis 1." I agree that the Godhead is seen in the first chapter of Genesis. In fact we see the Spirit in the second verse and I see the Son in verse twenty-six, "Then (God) said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;..." I agree also that this "image" is a shadow of the things to come. As far as the Godhead is concerned and our belief in the Trinity, I find it of importance that the pronoun total for the first chapter of Genesis is divisible by three. Genesis 1:1, "IN THE BEGINNING God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep; and the Spirit of (God) was moving over the surface of the waters." John 1:1, "IN THE BEGINNING was the Word, and the Word was with (God),..." John 1:1, "...and the Word was God." Genesis 1:3, "Then God said, 'Let there be light'; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good;..." May the light of His word be the light of men everywhere. From the heart, Ray |

Hi Lorna, Welcome to the forum. I don't know of any version of the Scriptures that says, "In the beginning god..." (even with corrected spelling) We have compared Genesis 1:1 with John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word..." What do you think? |

Hi Scot, If you have scriptures to back up any statement, always take time to type them in. If you are stating with Serentine that man was created after the seventh day of rest, many would be interested in hearing your Scripture references. Personally, I think that the same account is told again so that we can have something to compare it to. For instance, Genesis 1:25-26 with Genesis 3:1-5. The parentheses are for comparison. Genesis 1:25,26, "And God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after their kind; and God saw that it was good. Then (God) said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." Genesis 3:1-5, "Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, "Indeed, has (God) said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the gardeen?' And the woman said to the serpent, 'From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it or touch it, lest you die.' And the serpent said to the woman, 'You surely shall not die! For God knows that in the day that you eat from it your eyes will opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.'" So, I hope that you can see in this comparison that man was made in the likeness of God, knowing good and evil. We all were made in the likeness of God, knowing good and evil. The Man, Jesus Christ came in the likeness of men, and He was the (One) who said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness." Genesis 3:22, "Then the Lord God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of (Us), knowing good and evil;...therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden,...So He drove the man out;... So as you have written, there is a big diffence between the two accounts just as there is a difference between the Man and the natural man. Between Spirit and flesh. Between Spiritual bodies and earthly ones. A big difference between the perfect Creator and the imperfect, sinful man. From the heart, Ray |

Hi Kalos, I'm still trying to get people to capitalize pronouns of Deity. A lot of people here lately seem to have broken shift keys. I would have wanted Ioma here to capitalize God. But you also, when you put GOD in all caps for emphasis it doesn't tell us how you look at it; it could be god or God. When I was looking for a verse to show why it is important to differentiate I came upon two verses for comparison. Exodus 20:3, "You shall have NO OTHER gods before Me." It can't be typed Gods because there is only one God. As verse 23 says, "You shall not make other gods besides Me; gods of silver or gods of gold, you shall not make for yourselves." Exodus 34:14, "---for you shall not worship ANY OTHER god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God---" In passing I have a question for you. Do you think that God's name is Jealous? Or do you think that this word should be lower case as in "My name is holy". I know you have more important questions to work on, but it's good talking to you. From the heart, Ray |

396 | Please teach me about the Trinity. | Gen 1:1 | Ray | 77792
Hi jlpangilinan, Let's talk about John 13:16 and talk about Jesus being our Master [Teacher] and Lord. I believe that the verse is an example of life on this earth. The Teacher had just given them an example by washing their feet. They were to know these things and do them. No one of us is greater than the other. I say that this is an earthly example because in my study of the passage I can not find understanding in the verse by capitalizing any of those pronouns. It is talking about equality among us. These are the things that we should know and do. John 13:16 was referred back to in John 15:20. Here in this John 15 passage Jesus talks of what He does. John 15:12 says, "This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you." In the next verse, (in contrast to John 13:16) I see the verse as talking about Himself. Here He has Himself as an example, so I have the pronouns capitalized. John 15:13, "Greater love has no *One than this, that *One lay down *His life for *His friends. You are My friends if you do what I command you." This One who gave up His life can be compared to John 10:30, "I and the Father are one." Or John 3:15,16, "that whoever believes may in Him have eternal life. For God so loved the world..." But the question to be asked is this: Is Jesus your Master? There is no strange god among us. There is only one God. No longer did Jesus call them slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing. (an example that they could relate to). But He called them friends and He was to die for them and He makes that fact known. But there is no strange god among them. This Man who was their friend is also their Teacher and Master. For John 15:20 I have penciled in my copy a capitalized "Master" for again it is talking about Him. We are not greater than He. (I am a man and He came as a Man. I am a slave, or better, a servant and friend of my Master.) I am "one" who is to love just as the "One" who gave Himself up for me. John 15:20, "Remember the word that I said to you, 'A slave is not greater than his *Master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also." John 15:23, "He who hate Me hates My Father also." May we know Him better and better and know Him as our Master and Teacher; even the one true God. From the heart, Ray |

397 | Please teach me about the Trinity. | Gen 1:1 | Ray | 77859
Hi jlpangilinan, You speak of "the one sent". I speak of the One sent. You speak of the man and the son; I speak of the Man and the Son. You write in your profile of the One God, the Son. You also speak of the One God, the Father. And the Holy Spirit is spoken of. You can not understand the Trinity if you have two Ones and a one. Why do you not think of the Spirit as a Person? "And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth." 1 John 5:7 1) "Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?" 1 John 5:6. The Greek manuscript goes on and literally says "This One is the *one who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ." 2) It continues, "And the Spirit is the *one who bears witness..." 3) The NKJ continues, 1 John 5:7, "For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are *one." Jlpangilinan, it is difficult to understand the blend of the Persons in the Scriptures, but there is no doubt that it teaches about the one true God; and the three are one. I know that you wanted me to focus on Mark 13:32. But I say to you, who do you think is speaking in verse 23 where it says "But take heed; behold, I have told you everything in advance." Whose words will not pass away? From the heart, Ray |

Hi jlpangilinan, 1) Philippians 2:6, "who, although He existed in the form of God,..." Philippians 2:9, "...highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,..." Philippians 2:13, "...who is [the One who is] at work in you to do His good pleasure. Those were verses to compare word by word and a similar one is John 10:30, "I and the Father are one." As far as the Philippians passage is concerned, for verse 11 do you think of Jesus Christ being confessed as the Lord Jesus, the Lord God, or just as Lord? From the heart, Ray |

400 | Holy Spirit and holy spirit? | Gen 1:2 | Ray | 73142
I believe that there is a difference between being "indwelt" and being "filled". I agree with the discussion here about the Holy Spirit being present right from the start of Genesis and the indwelling being after a saving faith in Christ. Colossians 1:27, "...which is *Christ in you, the hope of glory." Psalm 130:1-5, "Out of the depths I have cried to Thee, O Lord/. *Lord, hear my voice! Let Thine ears be attentive To the voice of my supplications. If (Thou), Lord, shouldst mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with Thee, that Thou mayest be feared. I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait, And in His/ word do I hope." They hoped in His word and we hope in His Word do we not? Psalm 51:10, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Thy presence, And do not take Thy Holy Spirit/ from me. Restore to me the joy of *Thy salvation, And sustain me with a willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Thy ways, And sinners will be converted to (Thee)." I have included * stars and parentheses for comparisons and contrasts. The Scriptures have the word and the Word, the Spirit and the spirit. Are you open yet to the possibility of our being "filled with holy spirit" as at Pentecost? The Psalm speaks of a steadfast spirit within them. Can we have that same spirit? From the heart, Ray |
