82 | Is saying you are a god unforgiveable? | Matt 12:32 | Ocelot | 169896
Dear holyliving I fear you’re treading on thin ice. To say that John 12:36 somehow says that we “participate in being God” is quite wrong. To say that we become “sons of God” does not mean that we “participate in being God”. We are adopted as sons and daughters of God, but that by no means puts us on an equal level with God. God may dwell in us but this does not mean that we “participate in being God”. Understand that this is not a personal attack. I’m just trying to let you know that you’re on shaky ground. 84 | should christrians vist the sick | Matt 25:36 | Ocelot | 167889
Hi Touchdown Bubba, welcome to the forum. The Bible not only teaches that Christians should visit the sick, but Christ, in His parable of the Sheep and the Goats says that that is one of the defining characteristics of a saved person. Read Matthew 25:31-46. Ocelot |

86 | just wondering what salt refers to. | Mark 9:50 | Ocelot | 164902
Here are just a few of thoughts. First, salt is a preservative. Salt also helps things heal. Third, salt flavors things. How could these things apply to the Christian Life? The ultimate preservation would be to lead people to The Way, The Truth and The Life. Salt heals. We should always be open and watchful for ways to help to bare others burdens. And salt flavors things. We, as Christians should be joyful, kind and loving people. People that make life more joyful for others. Those are just some thoughts.

88 | did this woman know about jesus death? | Mark 14:8 | Ocelot | 168200
Hello stmichael, and welcome to the forum. My answer would be first, if Jesus said that that was what she was doing, then that’s what she was doing. He had been telling His disciples all along that His mission was not one of conquest, but one of sacrifice. But for some reason they just couldn’t seem to get it. It could be that this woman simply listened, and heard, the words the Jesus was saying. Matthew 20:18, 19 “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn Him to death, and will hand Him over to the Gentiles to mock and scourge and crucify Him, and on the third day He will be raised up." 90 | Are we presenting the gospel scripturaly | John 1:12 | Ocelot | 172386
Mark, In my humble opinion, you did not say too much. Excellent post! I especially liked the Donald Trump analogy. Here are a couple other verses that may be beneficial 1 Peter 3:15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts… Ephesians 3:17 …so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith…” Ocelot |

91 | Are we presenting the gospel scripturaly | John 1:12 | Ocelot | 172407
Hi Doc, This may very well not be my place to speak. But I would point out that you left the key part of what Mark said, out of your quote. He said “Let us not fault those who, AFTER they have preached the gospel, invite the repentant to pray, and fault what their choice of words may be” Just thought I’d point that out. 92 | Jesus' Instruction to Nicodemus | John 3:14 | Ocelot | 173868
Hi Doc. Thanks for this excellent quote. So according to Don Fortner, “There is a people scattered throughout the ages and realms of this world who are loved of God, a people whom God is determined to save.” And how, according to the scripture quoted, does God define those “people scattered throughout the ages… whom God is determined to save.”? “The WORLD” John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” Praise God! 93 | Jesus' Instruction to Nicodemus | John 3:14 | Ocelot | 173899
John, Your implication that Mark believes that man can save himself is (at least from what I know of Mark from his posts) a gross fabrication. If you were being swept downstream in a rushing river towards a waterfall, and someone tossed you a rope, after you were pulled to safety, would you claim to have saved yourself by grabbing the rope? Of course not! And you’re right about the Bible not recording anyone refusing to look at the brazen serpent. It was so easy to do. And yet, so is looking to Jesus. The analogy is PERFECT. Ocelot |

Revelation 3:20 ‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and OPENS THE DOOR, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.’ Isaiah 45:22 “Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other.” Titus 2:11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, |

Dear John, I agree that the analogy is quite poor. In fact, no analogy could come close to the Real Thing in any way shape or form. No fable could come remotely close to illustrating the degradation of sin or the incredible wonder of grace. In any case, perhaps now is a good time for me to drop the subject. I hope there are no hard feelings between us. In Christian Love, Ocelot |

98 | child made during adultry | John 3:16 | Ocelot | 166634
God is Love. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” For God so loved [The Child conceived in adultery] that He gave His only begotten Son. Don’t let anyone tell you differently. Here’s a question for you. Can you choose to whom you are born? Of course not. God is a God of love. He understands us completely. To the child that was conceived in adultery I would say this; know that God loves you just as much as anyone else. He loved you so much that He would rather DIE than live without you. And He did. 99 | child made during adultry | John 3:16 | Ocelot | 166640
Jesus said "I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance." Luke 5:32 If you’re a sinner, guess what, you’re not alone. Jesus didn’t come down to this earth to die on the cross for “good” people, but for sinners. Does that mean that we go on sinning? No. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. David was referred to as “a man after God’s own heart.” Yet he committed adultery and topped it off with murder. I’m not justifying those things, but I’m saying that God can forgive those sins. And He WILL, if you CONFESS them. God Loves Sinners. If He didn’t we ALL be in trouble. Ocelot |
