142 | why Satan appeared to Eve first? | Gen 3:1 | Ocelot | 165666
The Bible doesn’t specify why, however if I were to speculate, I’d say that Satan tempted Eve first because she was the first one to approach the Tree of the Knowledge of Good And Evil.
143 | RAPTURE | Bible general Archive 3 | Ocelot | 165579
Hi Mark. I agree with Kalos. The “Rapture”, will be a very loud, very visible event. Scripture plainly teaches that. Rev 1:7 BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, and EVERY EYE will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen. Matt 24:27 "For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. Matt 24:30 "And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF THE SKY with power and great glory. Matt 24:31 "And He will send forth His angels with A GREAT TRUMPET and THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other. 2 Pet 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up. 2 Pet 3:12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! As for 2 Thess. 2:1,2 "2 Thess 2:1 Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, 2 Thess 2:2 that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come." I would say that these verses are an argument for the exact opposite of a SECRET rapture. Paul is warning the Christians not to believe in such a way. As for the “Thief in the Night”. The “Thief in the Night” verses all pertain to the unexpectedness of Christ’s return. He is however, a thief with a trumpet. And when He returns, the elements will melt. If you or I were left behind I think we’d notice that. As for who said what first about a “secret” rapture, it doesn’t seem to matter. The Bible says it’s not secret. Ocelot |

144 | Mark, am I missing something | Galatians | Ocelot | 165360
Truth has never been popular. In the time of Noah, only eight people boarded the ark. During the time of Elijah only 7000 people in Israel and Judah, God’s chosen people, had not bowed the knee to Baal. In the time of Christ, God’s own people crucified Their Savior. During the dark ages the “Christian Majority” burned many thousands at the stake for possessing knowledge of the truth. Ocelot |

146 | Mark, am I missing something | Galatians | Ocelot | 165339
What is grace? Grace is when I’ve been speeding in excess and the cop that pulls me over lets me go without a ticket. Do I deserve a ticket? Yes. Do the laws that pertain to giving me a ticket for speeding still exist? Yes. So after he lets me go, do a peel out and spray gravel on his car? Now I realize that that’s not a perfect analogy of God’s grace. But here’s my point. Does God’s grace blot out His Law? No. The Law is eternal. God's grace removes the PUNISHMENT of His law. Did Isaiah live under grace? Yes. All of his righteousness were as filthy rags. It was still Christ’s grace and sacrifice that saved him. And he looked forward with faith to that sacrifice. The Ten Commandments were not “just for the Jews”. Most Christian pastors would preach the Ten Commandments any day. The only time they claim not to be living under them is when it pertains to the Sabbath. So were nine of the ten for everyone and only one of them just for the Jews? Read Isaiah 56:6. Also, read my post 164905. Just some thoughts. Ocelot P.S. Sorry, I realize that your post was addressed to kalos. |

Timberwolf If your sister believes that she is saved by keeping the law, then you are right and she is not. However if she is simply trying to keep the law because she loves God and wants to obey Him, then she is right. With Christian love Ocelot |

148 | Mark, am I missing something | Galatians | Ocelot | 165324
We are not under the Law, but under Grace. Shall we sin because we are not under the law, but under grace? Read Romans chapter 6. We are not under the PENALTY of the Law. Christ did not die on the cross so that we could murder, lie and cheat on our spouses. We can not earn salvation by keeping the law. But we certainly can lose it by willfuly breaking the law. (2 Pet. 2:20,22;1 Cor. 9:27; Jer. 18:7-11;1 Cor. 15:1,2;)Read also Matthew chapter 5:17-19. When it seems that the Bible contradicts itself, assume that you’ve misinterpreted it. The evidence in favor of the Law, and yes, even the Sabbath is massive in weight. The evidence against it is circumstantial at best. Truth is like fence posts. If we base our beliefs on one misapplied text, we can line it up to make the Bible say just about anything we want. But when we find many texts that go against our one or two texts, we should assume we’ve misinterpreted the text. Weigh the evidence. Listen to your sister. Read the word. The word is the only rule by which we should base our beliefs. We should not base them on tradition. With Christian Love Ocelot |

149 | Sabbath or Sunday | Col 2:16 | Ocelot | 165295
You’re preaching to the choir, so to speak. Rom 6:1, 2 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? Rom 6:15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be! Firstly, that was a very hypothetical question. It was simply to get an idea across. Secondly, I do not seek to keep God’s commandments to be saved. I seek to keep them BECAUSE I AM SAVED. Christ said “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” Just some thoughts Ocelot |

152 | what are the 7 churches spirits in Rev1 | Rev 1:11 | Ocelot | 165278
The seven churches are listed a little later in chapter's 2 and 3. Many have speculated that the various messages to the churches mentioned are messages to and about Christ's church chronologically from the first Christians to the present.

Not the soul) Job 27:3 (Read this in KJV) Psalm 146:3,4 1 Tim. 6:16 (Only God has immortality) Rom. 2:7 The Bible uses the word Soul 1600 times, but never immortal soul) 1 Cor. 15:51-54 (Jesus gives us immortality at His 2nd coming) Psalm 115:17 Acts 2:34 Psalm 6:5 Eccl. 9:5 Job 19:25,26 Ezek 18:4 (Souls die) Rom 6:23 (Wages of sin is death. 156 | After death can saints see whats going o | Ecclesiastes | Ocelot | 165264
Eccl 9:5 For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten. The Bible compares death to sleep. In John 11:11-14, Jesus compares death to sleep. "...after that He *said to them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I go, so that I may awaken him out of sleep. The disciples then said to Him, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover." Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was speaking of literal sleep. So Jesus then said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead," In 1 Thess 4:15, 16 Paul says "For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first." |

Thanks for your reply. I understand what you are saying. But just because a command is not mentioned, does that mean that it's toast? The fourth commandment is by far the longest and most detailed of the ten. I would just expect to see a little more on the issue in the Bible if a change was supposed to take place. |

159 | Which day is number seven? | Ex 20:10 | Ocelot | 164907
The change that I was asking about was the change from Saturday to Sunday. In the old testament, the week had 7 days in it. It still does. So the change that I'm talking about is not a calendar change but a day change. Anyway, any thoughts? |

160 | just wondering what salt refers to. | Mark 9:50 | Ocelot | 164902
Here are just a few of thoughts. First, salt is a preservative. Salt also helps things heal. Third, salt flavors things. How could these things apply to the Christian Life? The ultimate preservation would be to lead people to The Way, The Truth and The Life. Salt heals. We should always be open and watchful for ways to help to bare others burdens. And salt flavors things. We, as Christians should be joyful, kind and loving people. People that make life more joyful for others. Those are just some thoughts.
