Brad, please forgive me, but it is not my place to "prove" anything to you, or anyone else. You have access to the Word just as I do. If you were familiar with it, you would know to what I refer. May I humbly suggest, you spend a little more time therein. In the KJV, there are 74 references to the word "judgment" in the NT; 58 references to the word "judge." Were you to do a word study on either, or both, no doubt, you wouldn't need me to provide you with the "proof" you desire, and the knowledge you gleaned would be much more valuable to you than if I did all the work.If you still do not find the "proof" you desire, you may wish to read up on some of the history books in the Bible. There are many statements which can only be found in scripture through the reading of more than just a passage or two. Think back to King David. Did he not see judgment while he was still alive, for his sin with Bathsheba? Did his very own son not rape his daughter, and the brother of that daughter, did he not kill that son? Did David, he who was after the very heart of God, not loose his kingdom? Do you think these occurrences were just fate? As I previously stated concerning my former statements, "I would provide [scripture as a whole] as the framework for my statements." Humbly NYP |

Well Doc, that's your opinion. I paraphrased Brother Brad some scripture to back up my assertion. That you wish to judge me an "oxymoron, and prideful" is your prerogative. I am thankful that you are not my ultimate judge, yet, if you insist on scripture, you may wish to consider the following "Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." Mat 7:1 - 2. And Brother Doc, I would ask you the following, "Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.Romans 14:4 If you do not recognize the scriptural validity of my posts to Brother Brad, perhaps you will recognize it herein. Now, dear Brother Doc, the question is, can you accept, and perhaps learn something from your brazen attack on me, and take it to heart in a Christlike manor? As to any farther correspondence on this matter, you can retort if you wish. I choose to drop it, for I can forsee nothing coming from it which will glorify our Lord, and I will ignore any such retort which does not measure up to the letter of scripture. 1. This post is biblically based and (---whenever possible,---) I have included Bible references to support it. 2. This post is not intended as a personal attack on the authority of the Bible or on other users of this forum. 3. This post is not submitted as an effort to foster divisiveness, ill-will, dissension or other disruptions to this forum. 4. I have carefully proofread my post and believe it represents my best efforts. Serving Him in truth. NYP |

Thank you Hank, but I am sure that you will agree that there are various truths in scripture which simply are not stated word for word. As to your Doctor analogy, I appreciate and understand it, but I claim no Doctorate which is not readily available to all who wish to know the truth concerning the Living Word of God. Nor do I receive the wage you are paying your Doctor to provide his services. I do firmly believe that 2 Timothy 2:15 was translated as it is, in the King James Version, for a reason, and that one of the greatest weapons the enemy possess is laziness toward self indulgence in the Word, and that it is better to teach a person to fish, rather than continuing to give him fish. Where in scripture, dear Hank, are we commanded to "prove anything" concerning the word? Are we not commanded to, "Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction." 2 Timothy 4:2 Have I not followed Peters word in " 1 Peter 3:15 "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." ? That I have chosen a method which attempts to draw one deeper into scripture, rather than sole dependency on others for information, Is this disrespectful? Dear Brother, can you tell me where in scripture we are commanded to prove the Word of God? Is this not rather left up to Gods discretion? Are we not simply to present that Word and the truth thereof? I pray you, Brad, Doc, and all who read can understand my analogy. Proof in in the beholder. In His loving Name I am Not Yet perfect, but I am on my way. |

No, dear brother. As a matter of fact, I believe that there is proof positive that they originated right here, and that, though we may not be fully aware, they are in our midst, at this very moment. Present company excluded. NYP |

I do not attempt to fool myself in thinking that I am the only person whos "style" goes against the grain. I did a brief search on Georjoy and Glory Bound. Interesting character, this Georjoy. Blunt and to the point, but I think I like him. As to Glory Bound. I see that he/she was praised until someone named "Hank" came on the scene. Why do you avoid answering my questions? NYP |

Lord HAVE MERCY!!! I find it hard to believe that I have come under such bitter, vicious and down right cruel scrutiny. Oh the stones which have been cast.My prayers are with each individual. Even if I were who you seem to think I am, what have I done to deserve such animosity? As I recall I simply made a statement, then said that I based it on scripture itself. If this makes me a " fool who is right in his own eyes," then I am guilty, for in my eyes Gods Word is more than adequate to defend itself without my feeble help. Brothers, Sisters, If you wish to argue, do it amongst yourselves, for I will not participate. If I have wronged anyone, lay it out plainly. I will answer to it. If someone else has wronged you, do not blame me because my "style" bears a resemblance to his/hers. If the Lockman foundation notifies me of my wrong, and desires that I no longer participate in their forum, I will honor their request. However, I will not argue with those who wish to present themselves as my judge, jury and executioner. For the record, my email address is NYP@direcway.com Someone in this forum has HACKED into my profile and changed it. I suspect this is because they do not wish Lockman to contact me directly. NYP |

29 | Tongues, madness or sign for unbeliever | 1 Cor 14:22 | Not yet | 151034
Scripture specifically states that "tongues edifies no-one other than the individual who speaks them." Tongues are of no benefit to an unbeliever. In fact they are of no benefit to anyone, not even the speaker, unless there is an interpreter. The unbeliever would consider it madness unless his eyes were opened by the Holy Spirit, in which case he would no longer be an unbeliever. |

30 | The Arminianism/Calvinism" debate | Heb 6:4 | Not yet | 151050
Please forgive me. I do not wish to cause strife, but isn't this a "Bible Discussion Forum"? Is there something wrong with an "Arminianism/Calvinism" debate? My way of believing scripture has been labled "Calvinism," but I still like to debate and read debates of those aposed. As long as the debates glorify, rather than degrade His name. No matter what a belief is labeled, are the participants herein censored to chosen topics of debate? |

All the verses you quote, have one thing in common. Obedience. Would it be better for one to say something IS in scripture when it is NOT, or perhaps simply to quote the scripture from both sides of a coin such as this? It seems most choose to quote scripture from the side that they, for whatever reason, choose to take. Wouldn't we be more likely to glorify His name in advocating obedience rather than saying one can be obedient then choose not to obey the Word, and still make it into Glory? IN Him NYP |

35 | Reincarnation, scripturally founded? | Heb 9:27 | Not yet | 150758
I often hear the word reincarnation in a scriptural sense. Scripture states that "it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." This statement was made in the NT. I know that some OT individuals seemed to believe in reincarnation, but can anyone point out anything in the OT (other than questions) that might imply reincarnation? |

37 | Why can we not just be Christians? | 1 Pet 1:2 | Not yet | 151519
In his post #351 concerning Calvinism Kalos made the following statement " . . . WHAT DOES THE BIBLE TEACH ABOUT ELECTION? Election is the act of God whereby in eternity past He chose those who will be saved. Election is unconditional, because it does not depend on anything outside of God, such as good works or foreseen faith (Romans 9:16). This doctrine is repeatedly taught in the Bible, and is also demanded by our knowledge of God." Though I know that there are many who are much more learned than I will ever be, I simply do not read the words of scripture as making such a statement as is noted above. No doubt, they can be read as saying such, but the following is how I read it. God is an all knowing God. Before He created the heavens and earth, He knew each and every soul who would ever walk the face of the earth. He also knew who and who would not accept His Word, which was and is His one and only Son. Thus, “Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will . . . . . . “ Ephesians 1:4-5,11 Is it not his will, as is stated in scripture, that none should perish. If it were as is stated by Kalos, in having chosen His Elect, would it not be His will that the non elect would perish? Who are those he knew? Are they not those whom, from the beginning, He knew would know Him? I think this is more likely to fit the description of the loving and Graceful God of scripture. Is our faith not by His Grace? No, I do not believe that God just “picked and chose” from the pot of humanity, who would, and who would not be saved by His Grace. And though many interpret otherwise, I do not believe such a statement can be found in scripture if one takes scripture as it was intended, “as a whole,” not a bit here and another bit there. “Cover to cover.” I am called a Republican, but I am not a Republican. I am called a conservative, but I am not a conservative. I am called a Calvinist, but I am not a Calvinist. I tend to vote Republican because the party tends to poses morals, and lean toward what is scripturally founded, though they do not always operate by either. I tend to be a bit conservative. I believe the bible teaches such, but it also teaches charity and sympathy. I am called Calvinist because I believe what scripture teaches, even though others read it differently. I once looked up the biblical definition of the word “sin.” One of the many definitions of sin in scripture, is “anything done to the excess. It appears to me that Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives, Liberals, Calvinists and Armenianists, or what ever they are called, all tend to be ULTRA--Republican, ULTRA- Democrats, ULTRA-Conservatives, ULTRA-this and, ULTRA-that. Even when the opponent is right, they refuse to admit it and change their views. Why can we not just be Christians; All members of one body; the body of Jesus Christ, our savior? |

38 | Why can we not just be Christians? | 1 Pet 1:2 | Not yet | 151555
Original Question: Why can we not just be Christians; All members of one body; the body of Jesus Christ, our savior? Kalos responded: Answer: Foreknowledge 'Occasionally someone will suggest that God's election is based on His foreknowledge of certain events. This argument suggests that God simply looks into the future to see who will believe, and He chooses those whom He sees choosing Him. Notice that 1 Peter 1:2 says the elect are chosen "according to the foreknowledge of God the Father," and Romans 8:29 says, "whom He foreknew, He also predestined." And if divine foreknowledge simply means God's knowledge of what will happen in advance, then these arguments may appear to have some weight behind them. '....But that is not the biblical meaning of "foreknowledge." When the Bible speaks of God's foreknowledge, it refers to God's establishment of a love relationship with that person. The word "know," in both the Old and New Testament, refers to much more than mere cognitive knowledge of a person. Such passages as Hosea 13:4-5; Amos 3:2 (KJV); and Romans 11:2 clearly indicate this. For example, 1 Peter 1:20 says Christ was "foreknown before the foundation of the world." Surely this means more than that God the Father looked into the future to behold Christ! It means He had an eternal, loving relationship with Him. The same is true of the elect, whom we are told God "foreknew" (Romans 8:29). That means He knew them--he loved them--before the foundation of the world.' (www.gty.org/IssuesandAnswers/archive/election.htm) Grace to you, Kalos * * * * * * * * * * * * * Not Yet responded: Thank you Kalos. Though it appears there is room for doubt, I feel strongly that you have proven my position. There are many "positions" in scripture, which cannot be proven absolutely. I feel personally that these passages are of little consequence to those of us who are firmly rooted in Christ. However a doctrine such as this, can easily dishearten the sinner who feels unworthy, or even a week child of God. Still, dear brother, you did not answer my question. “Why can we not just be Christians; All members of one body; the body of Jesus Christ, our savior? “ I prefer an answer as biblically founded as possible. |

Though the exact words are not in scripture, I have read the thought therein. Ie., greed, gluttony. I cannot currently put my finger on the passage, but when I do, no doubt, this thread will more than likely be long forgotten.
40 | Why can we not just be Christians? | 1 Pet 1:2 | Not yet | 151565
Yes, dear brother we already are, but just as in the days of the Apostles, there is so much division. So then, how can a house divided, stand? I know that the Church will never fall, but there are so many within, who are conforming to the ways of the world, and so few who seem to care enough to “fight the good fight.” You state, "You wrote, " There are many 'positions' in scripture." That is not true. There are many positions held by man men. The Scripture does not hold positions. The Scripture is truth revealed. God has communicated coherently and clearly.” Perhaps I could have worded my statement more appropriately, but I would like for you to show me where scripture gives an absolute answer to the "once saved, always saved" question, or the doctrine of Grace and predestination. No doubt you can show me what "you consider" an absolute answer, I can too, but then there is much scripture which can be provided to cast doubt on either of our assertions. There is no doubt that “God has communicated coherently and clearly,” but no one can truthfully make the statement that there is any one particular individual who understands “all His communications, coherently an clearly,” thus I stand behind my statement, " There are many 'positions' in scripture." Yet I will reword it to say that there is much in scripture, which has many interpretations to choose from, numbers of which, are scripturally founded... Until our eyes are opened, who can say which is the correct interpretation? Bottom line, Proverbs 3:5-6. I would love to see the "doctrines of the necessity, clarity, and sufficiency of Scripture." Even more so, I would love to meet the man who has mastered them. Oh, there are many who profess, and many who, no doubt do know much, butI simply do not believe that there is anyone on the face of the earth who fully understands the whole of the word of God. |
