1 | What is God's love | 1 John 2:5 | Ned | 140974 | ||
Hello, I believe most of us misunderstand what the word "love" means. I do not know exactly where I got this, but I do believe word love represents a mindset (a complex mixture of perceptions, attitude and behavior) by which the object of love becomes the center thing of the lover. So my understanding of God's love especially when it comes to me it means...to Him, my life and my well-being takes a center stage. He cares about my well-being in its truest sense. When the Bible says in 1John 4:8b that "... because God is love" my understanding is... His nature and His essence is love! Being His nature, he can't help but to love me... regardless of my state of being...He loves me! Now, how does this love differ from ours? You see we were created in his image... but because of what happened in the garden (Gen. 3) we acquired a different nature. Since that incident...we are all born as sinners! LOVE IS NOT OUR NATURE… that is unless we are born again in Him whose nature is love! As sinners... we tend to confuse Love in its truest meaning to "like". What we call love...is actually a feeling of liking someone. While love comes from inside and expressed outwardly...like starts from the outward...and attempt to find a place in our inner being! An impossible task? You bet it is… again unless we acquire His nature. You see with "like" we have to see, feel, hear, taste or perceive something that appeals to us... this is what I believe lots of experts calls "phi Leo" kind of love. Sorry for a long answer... I am open for correction, concerns or plain rebuke if I deserve:) |
