2323 | Who are the Believers after the Rapture? | 2 Thess 2:12 | Mommapbs | 43717
Using 2 Thess 2:7-11 as a reference, does this passage support the belief that those who had previously heard the Truth of the Gospel and rejected it, will be blinded or precluded from accepting it after the Rapture of the Church? It has been suggested that only those "left behind" who never heard the Truth of the Gospel will have an opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior from sin. What do you think? Please include Scripture references in your answer! |

2324 | Left Behind in error w 2 Thess. 2:7-11? | 2 Thess 2:12 | Mommapbs | 43825
It would appear that present day believers have been lulled into complacency, perhaps out of ignorance of the the message of 2 Thess. 2:7-11. How does this fare for the message of the "Left Behind" series? In the first book we see several characters who realize that what they had been told about Jesus was indeed true and they "come to faith." Since they had rejected the Gospel before the Rapture, how can we justify their salvation according to this Scripture? It grieves me to think that those to whom I have witnessed about Jesus Christ will have no opportunity to accept Him after the Rapture! Perhaps this should serve as a wake-up call for those who have, to date, chosen to ignore the Gospel message! And we, as believers, should be charged with telling them that there may be no "second chance" for them after Christ comes for His Bride! We should be pursuing evangelism with great fervor as we see the "Day" approaching . . . calling those we love to believe while it is still called "today!" The only comfort I have is that God is still sovereign and He will have compassion upon whom He choses. Perhaps many we know who miss the Rapture are part of that "elect" group the God will call out of the Great Tribulation! Although we eagerly await His appearing, these are sobering days! In Christ, Mommapbs |

Greetings Robert: Thanks again for your reply. My resolve is to present the Gospel in a more urgent fashion to those I love who have not yet indicated a positive response to Jesus Christ. As you know, no response is one! I'm going to resubmit this question so that readers of the series by Tim LaHaye have an opportunity to comment on this! Blessings on your day! Mommapbs |

According to this passage in 2 Thess 2:7-12, the opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as Savior is precluded from those (gentiles) who have not responded to the Gospel or rejected Jesus before the Rapture of the Church. Doesn't the "Left Behind" series offer an erroneous hope of a "second chance" to those who remain?

Greetings Scribe: This is a new concept to me, and I am in the middle of really processing the ramifications of it. I guess I never really gave much thought to the door of Grace closing for some! I agree that many will be saved (some preserved supernaturally according to Rev.)but most martyred during the Tribulation period, however, could these individuals be primarily the "remnant" of Israel? Since the diaspora, and the lack of any geneological record, who knows if they are part of Israel? God does! (Recall Israel's great predisposition to intermarry. Through this disobedience et.al., God chose to include Gentiles as recipeints of His Grace!) It's interesting to note that perhaps through a DNA marker, one day mankind could be able to identify those of Israel's lineage too! Many who we would describe as "gentiles" may actually possess a component of Israel in their heritage. Romans 9-11 explains God's future plan of salvation for the Jews. "Some of the Jews have hard hearts, but this will last only until the complete number of Gentiles comes to Christ. And all Israel will be saved." (See Romans 11:25-27) When will "the complete number of Gentiles come to Christ?" Most agree that the Rapture will take place at this point and "age of the Gentiles" will be over - thus strengthening the concept of closing of the door of salvation to this group of people. I agree that multitudes will be martyred for their faith in Christ during this time as well, however, according to 2 Thess. 2:12, those who heard the Truth and rejected or did not respond to it will be judged and condemned. Earlier in this passage, we read that God will send them a delusion so that they will be blinded from the Truth of the Gospel they rejected prior to the Rapture. (This is consistent with what God did to Israel as recorded in Romans 11:7-8) As a result, they will choose to believe the lies of antichrist instead. (v11) God is indeed a God of mercy and compassion. His sovereignty will determine those chosen as His elect out of the Great Tribulation. I guess the sobering thought out of this is that one's rejection or lack of response today must be made with the realization that there may be no tomorrow, no "second chance." Now is the appointed time, today, if you hear His voice . . .do not harden your hearts . . . let's be diligent in our evangelism as we see THE DAY approaching! Blessings in Jesus! Mommapbs |

2328 | Left Behind in error w 2 Thess. 2:7-11? | 2 Thess 2:12 | Mommapbs | 44428
Greetings again Robert! After prayerful consideration and much study of this passage I have come to the conclusion (MINE) that the opportunity to be saved DOES exist after to Rapture of the Church right up until the Second Coming of Christ. I am basing this opinion upon 2 Peter 3:8-10 " The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. . ." This advent is the Second Coming, not the Rapture of the Church! Sadly, those individuals, who are part of God's elect, that "miss the Rapture" will suffer greatly during this time of His wrath. It is reasonable to believe that all, except the 144,000 witnesses that are Divinely "sealed" by God, will die. ("Blessed are those who die in the Lord from now on for they will rest from their trials." see below) God comforts them in this passage:“The people who are destined for prison will be arrested and taken away. Those who are destined for death will be killed. But be not dismayed, for here is your opportunity to have endurance and faith." Rev 13:10 Rev. 14:12- 13 “Let this encourage God’s holy people to endure persecution patiently and remain firm to the end, obeying His commands and trusting in Jesus. Blessed are those who die in the Lord from now on . . . for they will rest from all their toils and trials; for their good deeds follow them.” In Mt 24:13 Jesus also said, “But those who endure to the end will be saved.” (However I don't believe this necessisarily means being saved from physical death!) What must one do “to endure” or to be “victorious over the beast”? Rev 15:2 1. Obey the Lord's commands – be a testimony for Jesus, proclaim the Word of God (Rev. 20:4) 2. Do not worship the beast or his statue. 3. Do no accept his mark on the forehead or hand. After Jesus returns to earth, those who remain unrepentant will be trampled in the winepress of God’s wrath. (Rev. 19:15) At this point I agree that the opportunity to be saved is over. We read throughtout Revelation that "those who were perishing" or "on their way to destruction" refused to repent even though they were warned! So be it! I find that when I cannot understand something, trusting in God's sovereignty is the ultimate answer. He says, "What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! For he says to Moses,"I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." It does not, therefore, depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy." Romans 9:14-16 He chooses us! Praise His name! Mommapbs |

2331 | Rowdy, Rowdy, are you sure? | 1 Tim 2:9 | Mommapbs | 132243
Doc - a narrow gate it is indeed! When we visited Greece and went to the site of Lydia's baptism, the stream had been reinforced with concrete in an area to represent that place. As I looked at the construction it appeared as two funnels - wide at the mouth, narrow with steps leading down into the baptismal area and then wide again. "Many are called but few are chosen", came to mind when I stood there. Jesus does not call us to remain "dead dogs" (yet I understand more about how sinful I am as I grow in Him); He has called us to an abundant life, free in Him - to enjoy His presence and reflect His love to other "dead dogs." Blessings, mommapbs |

Greetings Jo - I will pray for you and your friends(s). Have you read "Share Jesus Without Fear" by William Fay?(There is also a video series on this)Go to Amazon and read the commentary. See if this might be helpful to you. One of the very best things I learned from this was the simple fact that no one leads another person to Christ - it is wholly the work of the Holy Spirit. If HE is not at work in the life of an unsaved person, don't attempt to "share Jesus" with him/her. When someone tries to take his/her life, it is usually the result of hopeleness or despair. Perhaps you are being called to be a beacon, pointing the way to the safe port in the storm. Let the light of Christ shine in your life with unconditional love and compassion for this hurting soul. God will accomplish HIS purpose both your lives. Blessings and prayers, mommapbs PS - Forget about the "freshman 15" stay in God's Word; you'll "starve" without it! |

2334 | should women be ministers and pastors? | 1 Tim 2:12 | Mommapbs | 47279
Greetings Listener! I am responding to your request with this note. This of course is a sensitive topic for me to address as a woman. I desire to be obedient to God's Word in my ministry so that it does not become "sinistry!" I think that there has been a good overview of the topic on the Forum and you can read the replies through the "search feature." From my PERSONAL perspective. I do not believe that a woman is called to be an "overseer" of the body based upon the qualifications given for elders in 1 Tim 3. As far as "teaching" or "preaching" goes, 1 Tim 1:12 is very sobering, yet I believe that if a woman is in submission to a male authority, she should be encouraged to share what God gives her to share with the bady - for we are all ONE in Christ. I continually seek to be in this kind of position in my ministry. I trust that even with my participation here I am subject to the leadership of the Lockman Foundation and their authority as represenatives of the Gospel of Jesus. I personally would be uncomfortable teaching a mixed class of men and women without the authority of a man present. Since, the man is the head of the woman and he is responsible for her spiritual welfare I must be careful to not usurp his authority or prevent him from assuming his God-given position! (Frankly, I think women have done just this! Is it any wonder that we are in such a leadership mess?!) Well, this is my thinking on the matter. Blessings, Mommapbs |

2335 | Can you be a Pastor if you are divorced? | 1 Tim 3:5 | Mommapbs | 76874
Greetings Met. I suspect that this verse gives us an answer to your question. Have you done a search on divorce in God's Word? God hates divorce! (Mal 2:16) See what it says, then check out the quick search feature on divorce. While I am aware of several Pastors who have been divorced and then choose to re-marry, I do wonder about the effectiveness of their ministry in light of this portion of God's Word. We are told to be reconciled to one another! See 1 Cor 7:14 Blessings, mommapbs PS: How marvelous is the Grace and Mercy of our Lord, who continues to love and forgive our unfaithfulness! |

2337 | Who does the condemning? | 1 Tim 3:6 | Mommapbs | 152153
What is the "condemnation incurred by the devil?" that conceit brings? Who does the condemning? |
||||||
2338 | Who does the condemning? | 1 Tim 3:6 | Mommapbs | 152168
I'm just wondering if believers participate in this at times? Conceit is a symptom of pride, it is easily recognizable in others . . . but in the recognition, what could we be exercizing?
2339 | are we as christians only to drink water | 1 Tim 3:8 | Mommapbs | 47454
Greetings! The Berean appropriately wrote this statement to you: "The danger many of us face today is we don't test what we hear." "Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God."Col 3:1 Just because you have heard something from someone in authority does not make it true! Examine God's Word for yourself, or better yet, ask that individual to show you where his/her support comes from in God's Word! As iron sharpens iron, so does one man sharpen another! (Pr 27:17) If more people would earnestly seek to know God through His Word, we wouldn't be confused by "second hand" knowledge! (Does anyone really like "hand-me-downs?") As you read, study and become familiar with God's Word, the more you will be able to discern HIS truth from what you hear! And best of all, the MORE you will KNOW HIM! Blessings on your pursuit of the Truth! Mommapbs |

2340 | Deacons? | 1 Tim 3:8 | Mommapbs | 77885
Greetings greatfullydead! You asked, "How do you select deacons among a huge congregation?" My first response is, not by a popularity contest! Sadly, this is the way that many churches select those to fill such positions. 1 Tim 3 begins with the qualifications that should be found in an "overseer" or shepherd of the local church and notice how verse 8 begins, "Deacons LIKEWISE must be . . ." So we could conclude that the selection of this group should be considered just as seriously. It troubles me a little that you have expressed concern over the size of your congregation in relation to the selection of deacons. Also, who is "you?" In other words, WHO evaluates the individual based upon the qualifications stated in God's Word? Certainly, if an individual "failed the test" he would be disqualified. Who is administering and grading that examination is of more concern to me! (So my initial comment remains, popular vote is a "no confidence" in my view!) Just some thoughts for you to consider. Do read all of 1Tim 3 and look at some of the other notes that have been written on this subject too! mommapbs |
