2301 | Wrath differ from judgment? | 1 Thess 5:9 | Mommapbs | 150662
Thanks BradK - good observations. Now, if God's wrath is revealed today, what is the wrath that is coming in 1 Thess 1:10? Is this referencing the bowls of God's wrath in Rev 16:1? Blessings, mommapbs |

2302 | don't be a LOSER | 1 Thess 5:15 | Mommapbs | 105154
Dear Joel K - I read your post and the references you cited. My response is to answer with Scripture as well. I recall writing to you a while back that it is not WHAT you know but WHO you know. "but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things," declares the LORD." Jer 9:24 You wrote that Jesus is your only teacher. Do you know HIM? Do you really know WHAT He taught? You wrote: "What a loser" Did He teach you to judge or malign your brothers and sisters? "Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned." Lk 6:37 "bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you." Lk 6:28 "But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, 'You good-for-nothing,' shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, 'You fool,' shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell." Mt 5:22 James admonishes us: "But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;" He reminds us that "no one can tame the tongue; (or the typing fingers) it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God;from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way." James 1:19;3:8-10. This is a sign I saw today that we all would do well to take to heart: "Wisdom is knowing when to speak your mind and when to mind your speech." I suggest that if a Forum member has specifically offended you, it would be wise (as well as obedient)to follow the instruction of Jesus in Mt 18. My prayer for you is that you will desire to be teachable. God may even be trying to teach you through this Forum, He has taught me much here! mommapbs |

2303 | mommapbs .. you proved my point well | 1 Thess 5:15 | Mommapbs | 105186
Greetings again Joel - for whatever reason, you have taken offense with the posts of others, yet when you are offensive, it bothers you not. Can you offer an explanation? I am surprised and saddened by your response - what I offered you was not a stick or a stone but the very words of God's Word. Who do you think is insulted? We all are, for we are all members of one body. I trust that you will take something other than a bitter spirit away from this Forum. None of us are perfect, none of us have the answers and none of us are above being taught. I'm sorry you took offense by my post, I suspect that you are fighting other battles that we know nothing about. God does though and HE is MORE than able to sustain and provide for you IN CHRIST. Praying for you, mommapbs |

Prayon - God is sovereign; our faith does not direct the hand of God. After reading your post to WTB, if one of your loved ones came down with diabetes, would you declare that they lacked faith? Would you tell them that they are "healed" and deny them insulin injections to keep it under control? Illness is not the result of a lack of faith in God or His ability or desire to heal. I believe that the "name it and claim it" philosophy you have advocated to WTB could be injurious to others both physically and spiritually. mommapbs |

2306 | How to exercize the gift of prophecy? | 1 Thess 5:21 | Mommapbs | 22695
For those in this forum who believe that the spiritual gift of prophecy is alive and well in this church age: how should a prophet exercize his/her gift to edifiy the body? For example, when given a vision or a message, how aggressive should the prophet be to reveal it?

2308 | Should I resign from the Forum? | 2 Thess 1:3 | Mommapbs | 65677
Greetings Forum members. I have been accused by rabbi mark of: "instruct(ing) other young Christian's to follow a personal opinion as though it is a biblical doctrine." Please review the posting 21647 and read through the thread that has led up to this conclusion by rabbi Mark. I will resign from the Forum if a majority of you deem this to be an accurate assessment of my participation here. Thank you for your input. In Christ, mommpabs |

2309 | 2 Separate Groups or One? | 2 Thess 1:8 | Mommapbs | 46963
Greetings New Creature! Looking at this verse in the context of Paul's letter, we see that this retribution occurs at the Judgment. Yes, I believe that these are two groups of individuals, but they are both "dead" spiritually. The first group is being judged because they "knew not God." (Check out Romans 1 - no one has an excuse!) The second group is being judged because they did not obey the Gospel. They rejected Jesus. Obedience to the Gospel of Jesus is BELIEF! This is love for God: that we obey His commands, and His command is to believe in Jesus (Read 1 John for a thorough discussion of this!) Believers who do not live lifes that reflect Jesus receive DISCIPLINE from the Lord, not judgment! (Romans 8:1 declares that there is no condemnation for those who are IN Christ Jesus!) This is not to excuse carnal living, but should serve as a reminder, that believers will one day stand before Jesus, our Lord and Savior, who suffered death for us, and give a "report" to Him for how we CHOSE to live, either for Him or for ourselves. (2 Cor 5:10) We are warned to live holy lives so that we will not be ashamed at His coming!(Eph 4:1; 1 Peter 1:15-16; et al)) Can you imagine being engaged in a sinful activity when Jesus' returns? (How about this senario? The trupmet sounds and you are in the middle of a family fued or marital argument! Wouldn't you rather be "caught" living a lifestyle that Jesus exemplified?) Since we do not know the day or the hour, we should always endeavor to live our lives in such a way that is pleasing to Him! (Sobering, isn't this?!) Hope this helps! May God bless you as you search His Word! Mommapbs |

2310 | will the church see the antichrist reign | 2 Thess 2:3 | Mommapbs | 48303
Greetings Flo! Before I answer this question, please note that the following is MY PERSONAL position that I have embraced,at this point, after much study of the Scriptures.I remain teachable! The church is the body of born again believers in Jesus, not everyone who belongs to a church is a member of THIS spiritual body! SO this is what I presume you mean when you refer to the church in your post. "Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him," 2 Thess 2:1 From this passage, note the progression: first we (the church of Jesus Christ) will see apostacy or a falling away from the TRUE faith. ( And what have we seen in these days? an increased awareness of spirituality, increased occultic practices with New Age influences abounding!) Jesus also noted these and said the "love of many will grow cold" (Mt 24:10-12) which is also the description (lukewarm)of the last church in Rev 3:16. It is only reasonable to expect lawlessness (which does not necessarily mean criminal activity!) to increase as people stray farther from the absolute standards set forth in God's Word. Just look at what has been legislated:removal of God from our schools, etc, abortion, euthanasia, etc. Yet God's Word warns, "Woe unto those who call evil good and good evil!" Isa 5:20 So the stage is set. There is much debate about the order of our "being gathered to Him," but I stand upon the Word of God which states,"For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ" 1 Thess 5:9 "You also became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much tribulation with the joy of the Holy Spirit, . . . you turned to God from idols to serve a living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath to come." 1 Thess 1:6,9,10 This wrath is different from tribulation mentioned in v6; even Jesus tells us to expect this! "These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." John16:33 Many folks confuse these two words. The GREAT TRIBULATION of The Revelation refers to the time when God's WRATH is poured out on the WHOLE WORLD! This is the wrath that Jesus promises to rescue us from! So as you can see from these Scriptures, my position on the matter is that as a believer in Jesus Christ, I can expect to undergo tribulation, but I will never suffer the coming wrath of God. Secondly, according to 2 Thess 2:3, "it will not come" (meaning our gathering together to be with Christ) unless the apostasy comes first,(which we have just addressed) AND the man of lawlessness is revealed. Does this mean that we will see the REIGN of the antichrist? I don't know but God's Word says he will be revealed. Is this to be interpreted as a singular individual at this point in Scripture? I don't know that either, but it may not be too difficult to recognize the rise of a world order that offers a "moral code" to those who are seeking peace. These are my thoughts on the subject - do check out the search feature and dialog with other participants from there if you have questions about their thinking on the matter! Blessings, Mommapbs |

2311 | The Restrainer - Revisited! | 2 Thess 2:7 | Mommapbs | 43956
Greetings Tim! I have been hung up on this passage for a couple of days now and in light of recent events, I tend to think that it is indeed the Church (and the far reaching effects of believers upon society) that restrains the influence of evil upon on world. Sadly, when the antichrist is revealed, people will not perceive him as evil! I would appreciate your viewpoint on verse 12. It never occurred to me that after the rapture of the church, those who are "left behind" who had previously not responded to the Gospel of Jesus Christ will not have any further opportunity to be saved. This is such a sobering concept to me and I wonder why it has not been proclaimed from our pulpits across the land? I guess I always "wanted" to see God as the God of the "second chance." But I am beginning to think that He is very serious about TODAY being the day of salvation for the Gentiles! I've posted a few questions on this verse if you are interested in reading! I anticipate your response! In Jesus love, Trish

2313 | Eccumenicalism is a deluding influence. | 2 Thess 2:11 | Mommapbs | 36279
Could the bad seed of "what is false" be sown in the soil of "tolerance" that is so prevalent in today's society? I'm wondering if the ecumenical movement might be the fertilizer, the "deluding infleunce" for the growth of this bad seed. The spirit of anti-christ is alive and well if people succumb to the "notion" of worshipping any other god than OUR GOD - Jesus Christ!
2314 | Deluding influences and itching ears. | 2 Thess 2:11 | Mommapbs | 98394
Once again this verse has "captured" my attention: Having just read "The Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown, and after a little web searching it seems to me that there are many "deluding" influences that the Lord may employ in these "last days" to achieve His purposes. The influence of this thinking, its secret nature and the enticement of its power are indeed strong motivators. I suspect that there may be a unifying connection (antichrist) between the Priory of Scion, Knights Templar, Free Masonry and the Illuminati, to name a few. . . the suggestion that there are many individuals in positions of power and influence around the globe who belong to these organizations is chilling, to say the least! (Frankly, it is exciting as I see prophecy being fulfilled 2 Tim 4:3-4!! I think that we as believers have missed something here because how often do we attach this Scripture to those in our midst who do not share OUR doctrinal position?!) Stand firm - hold onto the Gospel of Truth, for our Lord is indeed coming and His reward is with Him! (Heb 11:6; Rev 22:12) mommapbs |

2315 | Who is "they" in 2 Tim 4:3-4 ? | 2 Thess 2:11 | Mommapbs | 100281
Greetings, I had written this as a note a few weeks ago and perhaps now it's time to post it as a question to consider. "For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false," 2 Thess 2:11 Once again this verse has "captured" my attention: Having just read "The Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown, and after a little web searching it seems to me that there are many "deluding" influences that the Lord may employ in these "last days" to achieve His purposes. The premise that this text espouses (in direct conflict with the Gospel), its secret nature and the enticement of its "power" are indeed strong motivators for many to be influenced to turn away from the Truth. I suspect that there may be a unifying connection (antichrist) between the Priory of Scion, Knights Templar, Free Masonry and the Illuminati, to name a few. . . also, the suggestion that there are many individuals in positions of power and influence around the globe who belong to these organizations is chilling, to say the least! Frankly, it is exciting to me as I see prophecy being fulfilled here: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths." 2 Tim 4:3-4 I think that we as believers have missed something here because so often we attach this Scripture to those in our midst who do not share OUR doctrinal position! So, I'm wondering, who is "they" in this Scripture? As for believers, stand firm - hold onto the Gospel of Truth, for our Lord is indeed coming and His reward is with Him! (Heb 11:6; Rev 22:12) mommapbs |

2316 | Who is "they" in 2 Tim 4:3-4 ? | 2 Thess 2:11 | Mommapbs | 100290
Radioman, perhap you missed my point - "so often we attach this Scripture to those in our midst who do not share OUR doctrinal position!" Are these "people" those in the Church or unbelievers or both? mommapbs |

2317 | Who is "they" in 2 Tim 4:3-4 ? | 2 Thess 2:11 | Mommapbs | 100331
Yes EdB,I wholeheartedly agree with your observations, BUT again, my point was that BELIEVERS have a tendency to use this Scripture to "go after" other believers when they have a doctrinal aka denominational disagreement. mommapbs PS: Personally, I believe that Dan Brown's book is very dangerous - it plants doubt, which I have observed and dealt with first hand. Thankfully, the Word of God is LIVING AND ACTIVE and ABLE! We are told to be on the lookout for the devil's schemes . . . this, to me, is one of them. |

2318 | Isn't delusion dangerous? | 2 Thess 2:11 | Mommapbs | 122762
Greetings Aixen7z4 - please forgive me for not responding earlier - troubling issues in my life right now. You wrote: "believers can be deceived and can stray away from our service for God when we have failed to live in the light of God’s revealed truth." Yes, I'd agree. This is suggestive of "works" apart from Christ - "apart from Me you can do nothing." John 15:5 I'm not sure that people can believe they are saved when they are not -The Holy Spirit assures us of our salvation. We are told in 1 John to "test the spirits." We are told, "Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you--unless indeed you fail the test? 2 Cor 13:5" See also Phil 2:12 You asked: "What happens when a believer does not put up with sound doctrine?" Kalos offered this in a previous post: re apostacy - How does apostasy differ from heresy? "Apostasy, 'falling away,' is the act of professed Christians who deliberately reject revealed truth as to (1) the Deity of Jesus Christ, and (2) redemption through His atoning and redeeming sacrifice. Apostasy differs, therefore, from error concerning truth, which may be the result of ignorance, or heresy, which may be due to the snare of Satan (2 Tim 2:25-26), both of which may exist with true faith. The apostate is perfectly described in 2 Tim 4:3-4. Apostates depart from the faith, but not from the outward profession of Christianity (2 Tim 3:5). ... Apostasy in the church, as in Israel, is irremediable and awaits judgment." (p. 1304, New Scofield Reference Bible, Oxford, 1967) You asked: "What happens when a person refuses to accept the Gospel? Can it be that they are then allowed to think that something else is the gospel? (See 2 Thessalonians 2:10,11)." First of all, there is only one true Gospel. The rejection of that truth opens the door to all sorts of idolatrous belief. The rejection of salvation by Grace assumes that one relies upon works. IMO this is pride at the zenith. It is contrary to God; it is anitchrist. The embrace of this deceptive philosophy is the perversion of the true gospel - remember that Satan perverts and conterfeits. People who reject the Gospel, most often refuse to believe that they are in need of saving - they don't understand WHAT they need to be saved from - God's wrath. I suspect that folks who want to believe in universalism fall into this category. How can a loving God . . . God is merciful . . .but because they are so self focused, they lose sight of God's holiness. Mercy without justice is not mercy. Aixen, while I understand your questions, perhaps this particular Forum is not the place for this dialog, especially when some of what you have posted might prompt unnecessary doubt in the hearts and minds of some "babes in Christ." Blessings, mommapbs |
