161 | Take from the wicked give the righteous | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 139018
Greetings Hank - I do "hear you!" Indeed it is redundant. Is it important to differentiate between those who "believe in Christ" and those who have "put Him on?" How does one discern the heart of another? I don't mean to provoke anything here Hank - but shouldn't the new birth be GOOD NEWS! Yet so often I find folks deriding it or refusing to wear the "label." mommapbs |

Once more Hank - SO, it is up to us to be faith full "witnesses" of the Light within! However, my concern is for those whose follow those whose "light is darkness"! (Luke 11:35)Blind guides also comes to mind here. I thank God for you and the Light He has given to you; for His Spirit of wisdom and discernment and your willingness to be HIS instrument here. mommapbs |

Human remains or hominid types? Regardless of what scientists try to prove, only man was created in the image and likeness of God.(Gen 1:26) We have the fossil record to inform us of ALL of God's creation, but there is nothing in Scripture to support man's notion of evolution. Man was created to rule over all the living things that God created . . . even the hominid types of creatures that are being uncovered. Consider this! mommapbs |

Greetings Searcher - I suspect that this sungoddess perhaps has gone to sleep at the switch, but I would like to give you a verse that has brought some comfort to me: "You have enclosed me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.Ps 139:5 I believe I have told this story before on the Forum, but it is worth telling again. A dear mentor related how to appreciate those times of darkness that come into our lives. Imagine you are holding a Fabrege Egg - it is a priceless possession - you see a dangerous stretch of road ahead. What would you do? Cover the egg you are holding with your other hand. What is it like inside your hands? Dark. So when we are "in the darkness" know that God has "hedged you in" (Job 3:23) - He is protecting you and inviting you to trust Him in this. We have been told that "without faith it is impossible to please God" (Heb 11:6), perhaps we might see these dark periods as opportunities to do just that - trust Him, and therefore please Him! 165 | living togeather out of wedlock | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 145159
Greetings and welcome - while you and I and many other folks may read God's Word and discover that He warns us to abstain from sex outside of marriage (fornication), yet until the individuals who are involved recongize that this is rebellion against God, there is really nothing you can do. The Holy Spirit does the convicting; He does not need any help. My best advice is for you to pray without ceasing for this couple, that God would open their eyes to the reality of their living situation in HIS eyes and that they would desire to honor Him in their relaitonship with one another. You can be a supportive friend and encourage them to see for themself what God's Word has to say. I would direct you to the instance of adultery in 2 Sam 11 - God's Word is very clear about the sin of sex outside of marraige - remember that our relationship to God is described in marital terms. We are the "Bride" of Christ - and yet how often does He find us "sleeping with the devil?" Sober thoughts here! Blessings, mommapbs |

Greetings! I see that you have been registered with the Forum for several years and yet you haven't told us anything about yourself! How about doing so under Resources on the left column (see Update user info)? I would direct you to the notes already written on these verses. Re-post if you need some additional clarification or have other questions. What I would wonder is can one without the Spirit testify of Jesus? What do you think? Blessings, mommapbs PS: The disciples had been with Jesus from the beginning of His earthly ministry. Who has been with Him from the beginning? |

168 | How's praying in the Holy Spirit tongues | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 148490
Searcher - this question has been up for a while . . . Susan has not responded; I agree with your conclusion - the Spirit speaks, not the believer here. I see Eph 6:18 and Jude 1:20 as faith expressions of the reality of Romans 8:26. The Spirit intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. What a comfort that is - to be intimately connected with the Trinity, knowing that our struggles not only go unnoticed, but are brought before the Throne of the King. Now what kind of language does the Spirit use? Groanings, too deep for words - SO might this also be understood as an "unknown tongue"? Who is doing the speaking? As the Spirit intercedes, this "unknown tongue" does indeed edify the individual as we learn to trust in this reality that takes place in our lives. I recognize that most probably your discussion was the believer's use of tongues in uttered speech - yet the inference of Romans 8:26 is that the "tongue" of the Spirit is too deep for words (therefore how is that we should utter any?) Therefore when we pray in the Spirit, might it be a yielding of our burdens and cares to Him, who knows our thoughts and our needs before we do? (Cease striving and KNOW that I am God - Ps 46:10 - comes to mind here.)I only offer this as a suggestion to consider that might diffuse some of the agnst we experience in this sensitive area of our various traditions. mommapbs |

Ok Searcher it may be a loooooooooonnngg stretch, but as mothers would say to their infants as they reached out, "Stretch and grow!" I hope you don't see all stretching as a bad thing! Sometimes we have to stretch to see if we can't reach something too. mommapbs |

170 | How to "win the world" ? | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 148705
Greetings Thy Will - does a person have to walk into a church building to feel the power, love, and joy of the Holy Spirit? Does the Holy Spirit reside in a church building? In my opinion and experience, there are many churches and individuals with "Icabod" over their doors and hearts. Indeed the place will be "Christ-like" if Jesus is "at home" in the hearts of the individuals worshipping there. See Hank's post 105330 Blessings, mommapbs |

173 | And can we accept this challenge? | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 151141
Greetings Hank - If we truly believe that when one member of the Body suffers, all suffer,(1 Cor 12:26) then shouldn't healing or restoration be a priority to the Body? What would "measureable results" that precede restoration look like FOR THE BODY as well as for a fallen believer? I believe the answer is found in Gal 6:1 - gentleness is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, therefore any 'restoration' (which could also include equipping and completing or rebuke and correction) that is devoid of the Spirit (and Its fruit) is not Godly. When we choose to obey the commands of Christ we will see Him at work through us to rebuke, correct and restore with gentleness, Please see: James 3:13-18; 2 Tim 2:24-26 I believe that we should also see Godly sorrow that leads to repentance. (2 Cor 7:9,10) Just some observation to consider as we seek to edify one another. mommapbs (Imo, Departing from the sound words of Christ happens a lot here. I am sure that I am guilty too - forgive me. (1 Tim 6:3) The issue of capitalization does not seem to be cause for breaking of fellowship and I am unaware of the "theory" that you have referenced here. I have a spirit, it is living, holy and acceptable to God because of the work of the Holy Spirit of Christ that dwells in me. Color me blonde but what is wrong with identifying Who is God and who is not? If I am wrong, please forgive me of my ignorance here!) |

174 | And can we accept this challenge? | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 151198
Hank - as you have noted, SBF is not a church - but it is a place where we do "fellowship" - if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, 1 John 1:7. SBF is a place of contribution, sharing and participation (koinônia) - at least I have found this here. If you are IN Christ and I am IN Christ, then we are BOTH part of His Body. It was not God's design for there to be divisions, but one Body, (1 Cor 12 v 25) and we do have a responsibility toward one another as part of that Body. Right or wrong, I have considered you, brother Hank, to be my elder in the Lord and I thank God for you. There are many on this Forum whom I believe God has granted much wisdom and knowledge and I avidly seek out their posts when I have questions. According to Ez 36:26 God has given us a new heart and a new spirit. What kind of new spirit would He give to us? The Holy spirit testifies with our spirit that we are children of God. Because we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit we are sanctified (made holy) by His presence. Romans 8:16, 1 Peter 1:2, Col 1:22 I am in no way suggesting that the regenerated believer is without sin! But indeed he is set apart unto God - the believer is called holy by the writer of Hebrews (3:1), identified as being built into a holy preisthood and part of a holy nation (1 Peter 2) Paul (Col 1:22) tells us that we are reconciled to God through the death of Jesus "in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach." Interestingly, Paul describes an unmarried woman or virgin as holy in BOTH body and spirit (1 Cor 7:34). This makes sense to me, and affirms that who we are IN Christ is wholly a work of God. Grace, period. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass. 1 Thess 5:23-4 Grace to you, mommapbs |

175 | And can we accept this challenge? | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 151341
Greetings Ray - I realize that this is very subjective but . . . from these Scriptures, what does God want you to focus on here about what He says about Himself and what He says about who you are? Are there any action steps that you believe God is calling you to do as a result of these verses? I'd be interested to read your responses to these questions. Blessings, mommapbs |

176 | And can we accept this challenge? | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 151416
Ray - I asked you for some specific answers, not your comparison of text. Perhaps this is edifying to you, but I find what you have written in response as almost an "unknown tongue." As believers, we have a responsibility to one another . . . What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. 1 Cor 14:26. I believe that our posts should be encouraging, looking to build one another up, an application of the truth that is personal but not self-focused and applicable to others for their growth. Eph 4:29; Romans 15:2 . . .let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds Heb 10:24 (Opinion alert)Anyone can read a commentary, or post old sermon notes, or mark their Bibles so that they have a clearer understanding of the Diety of God, but a personal testimony of God's activity in one's life can be a powerful source of edification too. (1 Peter 3:15) It saddens me that our dialogue has come to this and has garnered such an ungenerous response . . . God knows your heart Ray, I'd like to too. mommapbs |

177 | New prophecies in the New Testament? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 22558
Without doing any research, my initial reaction to your question is: in general, the Old and New Testament address prophecy in the same sense. There may be elaborations on the prophecy but just because God's Word is divided into Old and New doesn't mean that there are necessarily and new prophecies. Isn't it wonderful to live in an age where we can see prophecy fulfilled? It is such an encouragement to know that what WAS written in the past serves to guide us in what WILL be!
178 | Was Jesus a homeowner? | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 22561
No, on earth Jesus did not own a home. Matthew 8:20 - Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head." Recall that the devil tempted Jesus in this manner - offering Him the entire world,in exchange for His worship! This was entirely within his right to offer the Lord, because until the return of Christ, the earth is ruled by the "prince of this world." Since Jesus real home was in Heaven, the earth held no attraction for Him. This is an intriguing question. Would you build a mansion in a landfill when you had a home that was beyond compare elsewhere? The only attraction on this earth for the Lord was its inhabitants - US! See John 14:1-6. Thank you Lord for leaving your Heavenly home and coming to rescue us from this cesspool! |

Thank you searcher - I am away from home and don't have a huge amount of time to devote to this request! 180 | Competition for our love Rev. 2:4-5 | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 27662
In Revelation 2:4, could Mary, the mother of Jesus be the competition for our love the Lord is referring to? If you will recall, the Apostle John was charged with Mary's care by Jesus as He was dying. 'From that hour the disciple took her into his own household.' John 19:27 Most of us know that John wrote The Revelation of Jesus Christ while he was exiled on Patmos, but many probably don't know that he was exiled from his position as the "bishop" at Ephesus. If John had relocated from Jerusalem to Ephesus, it is safe to assume that Mary, being in his care, accompanyied him also. And,according to historians, the house that John provided for Mary is still standing in Ephesus. In fact, it has become a shrine. In Revelation 2:4 and 5, following His condemnation, 'But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.', Jesus counsels and warns us with these words,'Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place--unless you repent.' Putting this scripture together with historical references it is possible to conclude that perhaps Ephesus was the genesis point of where the love for Jesus was eclipsed by the adoration of His mother,Mary. The Ephesians did not heed the Lord's admonition to return to their first love, in fact, first church they built in Ephesus was not dedicated to the Lord, but to Mary instead! Obviously they did not repent, for true to the Lord's warning, today there is no church in Ephesus! It is a dead city - not a soul lives there! |
