21 | Good start in Bible for new Christian? | Luke | MAC702 | 112587
I, too, would recommend starting with the gospels, and then follow immediately with Acts as it is a seamless transition to the days of the early Christians after Christ's death. It was written by Luke, in fact. I would probably just go in order through Revelation, and then start in Genesis, making sure to read the entire Bible. I like the schedules for doing so in a year, too. It's very doable, and well paced. |

Likewise: Matthew 10:13 - "But he that has endured to the end OR AT LEAST FOR SOME INSTANT IN TIME is the one that will be saved." |

23 | What about the sabbath day? | Rom 10:4 | MAC702 | 112600
“Christ is the end of the Law, so that everyone exercising faith may have righteousness.” (Sabbath keeping was a part of that Law. God used Christ to bring that Law to its end. Our having a righteous standing with God depends on faith in Christ, not on keeping a weekly sabbath.) If the Law was in effect, ALL of it would still be in effect. (Also Galatians 4:9-11; Ephesians 2:13-16)
24 | Where do you draw a line? | Rom 10:4 | MAC702 | 113366
So do you advocate following all provisions of the Law that are not expressly overruled in the NT? This would include how to cure "leprosy," etc.
25 | What about the sabbath day? | Rom 10:4 | MAC702 | 113367
The first thought that immediately comes to mind when reading your note is the following scripture, John 19:28-30: "19:28 After this Jesus, knowing that all things are now finished, that the scripture might be accomplished, saith, I thirst. 19:29 There was set there a vessel full of vinegar: so they put a sponge full of the vinegar upon hyssop, and brought it to his mouth. 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up his spirit." (ASV) Some versions and translations even use the word "accomplished," instead of "finished." |

26 | Lawful marriage certificate | Rom 13:1 | MAC702 | 227756
Romans chapter 13 answers all of those questions. It is summed up in verse 1, but the whole chapter is applicable. When man's laws do not conflict with God's laws, we are to respect the government as it is here as a temporary solution until God's Kingdom takes over. |

27 | where in the bible it talks about gays | 1 Cor 6:10 | MAC702 | 227693
(Romans 1:24-27) 24 Therefore God, in keeping with the desires of their hearts, gave them up to uncleanness, that their bodies might be dishonored among them, 25 even those who exchanged the truth of God for the lie and venerated and rendered sacred service to the creation rather than the One who created, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 That is why God gave them up to disgraceful sexual appetites, for both their females changed the natural use of themselves into one contrary to nature; 27 and likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene and receiving in themselves the full recompense, which was due for their error. |

28 | gifts you can have | Eph 4:11 | MAC702 | 112596
There are a couple of different ways of interpreting your question. Here's but one answer. All men of God have a talent that we can use better than our other talents. Paul referred to these talents (and therefore the usage of the men) when he wrote to the Ephesians (in pertinent part): Now to each one of us undeserved kindness was given according to how the Christ measured out the free gift..... 11 And he gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelizers, some as shepherds and teachers, 12 with a view to the readjustment of the holy ones, for ministerial work, for the building up of the body of the Christ, |

29 | What does begotten mean on this verse? | Heb 1:5 | MAC702 | 229114
Actually, in John 3:16 it is prefaced with the word "only" so the word "begotten" in itself does not convey a uniqueness. Hebrews offers the question knowing the readers can only make one logical conclusion: that Jesus is the one who is the answer to the question, and not just an ordinary angel. |

30 | Is marriage when you sign a paper ? | Heb 13:4 | MAC702 | 112463
That's a good question and the answer (which is also already in your heart) applies to MANY things in a Christian's life. Read Romans chapter 13, the gist of which states that Christians are to live lives in the full legal manner of the ruling authorities. I'm assuming you're in the US, or at least another country which clearly defines marriage as a civil union that must be recognized by the State. The only exceptions to legal things are where they conflict with God's requirements. Having a legally recognized marriage is not in conflict and therefore required by Christians.
31 | Do you think that christians can live a | 1 John 1:8 | MAC702 | 227708
(1 John 1:8-10) 8 If we make the statement: “We have no sin,” we are misleading ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous so as to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we make the statement: “We have not sinned,” we are making him a liar, and his word is not in us.
32 | rev.7:4 | Revelation | MAC702 | 229112
Actually, these are NOT the twelve literal tribes of Israel. Levi was not a registered tribe, and there was no tribe of Joseph, but rather two from his sons, with Manasseh being mentioned, but Ephraim not. Note the lack of the mention of the tribe of Dan. There is more at work here than simply saying these are the "twelve tribes of Israel." |

33 | Is word antichrist used in Revelation | Revelation | MAC702 | 229113
John only uses the word "antichrist" in his first and second letters at 1 John 2:18, 22; 4:3; and 2 John 7. Also note that he says there are many antichrists, as it can be a term applied to anyone that does not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. The term is not used in the Revelation. |
