1 | ___-trib satisfactory? | Not Specified | Listener | 17323
Is there anyone else out there who feels that all the rapture chronology positions (pre-trib, mid-trib, pre-wrath, post-trib, ex-trib [O.K., I made that one up]) leave some loose ends scripturally? After studying pre-wrath I was sure I had the answer, but there are a few passages that still don't seem to fit. Sometimes I wonder if we're missing the point with all the rapture chronology emphasis (which I suppose I am perpetuating).

4 | What is the Greek word? | Bible general Archive 1 | Listener | 35180
The most common controversy that I am aware of in this regard pertains to the following passage: Isaiah 7:14 - Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. There has been a great deal of argument over the Hebrew word translated virgin. Some scholars say the word should be translated "young woman", others say "virgin" is the correct translation. I would suggest, ever so humbly, that the average non-Bible scholar with enough sense to come in out of the rain can look at the context and settle the matter in their own mind. Choice 1) Isaiah 7:14 - ... the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a [young woman] shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel [God with us]. Choice 2) Isaiah 7:14 - ... the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a [virgin] shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel [God with us]. Which makes the most sense to you? Thanks, Listener |

5 | Similarities of Moses and Jesus? | Bible general Archive 1 | Listener | 35333
Prayon, Great list going. I would echo Ray's comments that the differences should also be mentioned. One good way to illustrate this may be by the following passage, which compares and contrasts Moses and Jesus: John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. Actually there are many passages which relate Jesus to Moses. Moses hidden in the cleft of the Rock, Moses' prayer brings water from the Rock, etc. The only additional similarities that come to mind is that both were known for humility, both assembled 70 elders/disciples (also each led 12 tribes/12 apostles), and both were called out of Egypt: Numbers 12:3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) John 13:5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. Numbers 11:16 ¶And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee. Luke 10:1 ¶After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Hosea 11:1 ¶When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt. Matthew 2:15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son. Listener |

6 | Two witnesses of Revelation - prophets? | OT general | Listener | 30852

Kalos, I did search for my question before asking, that's why it was posted to a thread on the topic. I had not seen the idea that the two witnesses could be gentile and Jewish believers addressed in the thread, and was hoping for feedback on this. Thanks, Listener |

8 | is jesus god? | Gen 1:1 | Listener | 36111
Yes, Colossians 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. John 4:25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 10 | Abortion for medical reason ??????? | Ex 20:14 | Listener | 32595
I can only imagine how you must feel. Please accept my sympathy and good will toward you and your family. I have very little medical knowledge but I feel compelled to share what I have learned through experience: 1) Men, including doctors and clergy don't know everything. Even when they act as if they are certain, they are sometimes wrong. We can only rely on God and His word. 2) Men, including doctors and clergy have a strong tendency to act in their own self interest. For doctors this means minimizing the possibilities of lawsuits and complications while maximizing profits. This is especially true if you have good insurance. For you, this means you must realize this bias in their advice, and make every effort to give priority to your family over yourself, as I trust you are now doing. 3) Get a second and a third opinion. This may clear things up immeasurably. When you ask the next doctor, try not to bias him/her with the previous doctor's recommendations. Proverbs 19:21 ¶There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand. May God bless, comfort, and heal your wife. |

11 | How can I submit to fallable clergy? | Ex 20:14 | Listener | 32716
Charis, Thank you for your biblical and straightforward response. You are correct in that I tend not to have faith in men/women of any stripe - whether they be doctors, clergy or anything else. Your biblical reference pinpointed this problem. As a thinking person, though, I am not sure how to overcome this. My observation, personally and from history, is that clergy are just as prone to error and self-will as the rest of us. Must I ignore history and personal observation? If not, how can I, in good faith, "Obey your leaders and submit to them"? Even Paul commended his listeners when they compared what he said with the scriptures, to see if they lined up (Acts 17:11). Jesus directed us to be as wise as serpents yet as harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16). How can we balance obedience and submission with discernment and wisdom? Obviously clergy who incite violence at abortion clinics should not be followed, and there are many other examples, both contemporary and historical. How is this reconciled with submission and obedience? If I say that I will submit and obey only in as much as what they say lines up with the Bible, then there is always room for contention on minor points of doctrine and practice. If I say I will submit and obey even in contradiction to the Bible, as long as the issue is minor - then how can I be sure what is minor in the Lord's eyes? The above paragraph is an attempt to clarify my dilemna in hopes of a usefull response and subsequent solution. I am confident that with His blessing, through the written word, the indwelling Holy Spirit, and brethren who are vessels of His blessing, this attitude can be changed to one which pleases Him. Thanks, Listener |

13 | Support for Israel! | 1 Chr 12:18 | Listener | 47310
Absolutely! Men will continue to say: Ezekiel 13:10 ¶Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace... But there is no peace apart from Jesus: Acts 10:36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:) But when we pray for the peace of Jerusalem we are also praying for spiritual revival and enlightenment of the individuals who inhabit the city. That is, we are praying that Jesus would reveal Himself to them and grant them saving faith in Him, after which He will soon return. Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Come quickly, Lord Jesus |

Lily's mom, Hope these help. Listener Isaiah 63:7 ¶I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses. 8 For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour. 9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old. Isaiah 64:4 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him. 1 Thessalonians 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. |

15 | Ephriam synonymous w/ Gentile believers? | Ezek 37:19 | Listener | 43221
Ephriam synonymous with Gentile believers? I saw a teaching from a messianic couple which stated that this verse and others were describing gentile and Jewish believers. That the true church was comprised largely of a scattered remnant of the ten lost tribes, and that the Lord would make us one. Any direct contradictions with scriptures? Alternate explanations?
16 | Is Israel still chosen? | Joel 3:20 | Listener | 16439
You are absolutely correct. The scriptures promise that David's kingdom will be established forever. They promise that God will establish Israel as the most blessed kingdom of all time. God is not finished with Israel. The very existance of Israel is a marvelous witness to the faithfullness of God. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob has preserved Israel through the terrorism of the Muslims, the holocaust, the diaspora - and they will always remain as a witness to the faithfulness of God. The verse below is just one example. The minor prophets are full of kingdom promises specific to Israel. 20But Judah shall abide forever, And Jerusalem from generation to generation. 21For I will acquit them of the guilt of bloodshed, whom I had not acquitted; For the LORD dwells in Zion |

19 | Word of God equal to food in NT | Matt 4:4 | Listener | 16422
The following refers to Jesus, the Living Word of God (John 1): John 6 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." 52 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" 53 Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. |

20 | Word of God equal to food in NT | Matt 4:4 | Listener | 16423
There are a couple of passages where milk is synonymous with elementary principles of God's word. Meat (or solid food) seems to refer to advanced principles of the word: 1 Peter 2 2as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, Hebrews 5 12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! 1 Corinthians 3 2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. |
