222 | What does "your eyes saw" mean in Deut 7 | Deuteronomy | Jesusman | 29507
Moses is speaking to the nation as a whole. Not just to the individuals. Also, while the parents would have died off, the children born to them shortly before the 10 plagues could've remembered some of them. Then you have the passing on of the stories as well as the miracles they have seen while during the wandering. Also, the point of this passage is that God is powerful enough to take care of you and will defend you against your enemies. Jesusman |

225 | New Gender-Neutral NIV | 2 Sam 7:28 | Jesusman | 32447
Hello Hank, To do a gender neutral version would be going against Scripture. Let me explain what would be involved to make the Bible gender neutral. In the hebrew, there is no neuter gender form. The only genders are masculine and feminine. To make a gender neutral translation, you would have to redesign the language of hebrew, and create a whole new set of paradigms for the neuter gender. In greek, you do have a neuter gender, along with the masculine and feminine genders, but the neuter only accomodates a percentage of the language. To make the greek gender neutral, you will have to rewrite the entire greek vocabulary to reflect the neuter forms. This was explained to me by a man who was on the original translation committee for the NIV: Dr. W. Harold Mare. He was, when we last talked, adamantly opposed to the NIV becoming Gender neutral. 228 | Injury to the Shunammite's son? | 2 Kin 4:19 | Jesusman | 28477
Since the scripture doesn't give much details, we can only guess. However, the Bible doesn't describe a head injury as if he fell and hurt his head. It merely says that the boy's head started hurting. It's possible, and more likely, that the Boy suffered from a brain tumor or something similar. Jesusman |

I, even I, (K)ing (A)rtaxer(x)es, issue a (d)ecree t(o) all the treasurers w(h)o are (i)n the provinces beyond the River, that whatever (E)(z)ra the (p)riest, the s(c)ri(b)e o(f) the (l)a(w) of (t)he (G)od of hea(v)e(n), (m)ay (r)e(q)uire of (y)o(u), it (s)hall be done diligently, See? 234 | Is this a false prophet? | Job | Jesusman | 33029
Hello Jensen, Remember the words of John the Beloved in 1 John 4:1-3 (1 John 4:1) Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (1 John 4:2) By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; (1 John 4:3) and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. A true prophet who speaks in the name of the Lord will speak that which coincides with God's holy word dictated in the Bible. A prophet who does not speak such things is not sent by God. 235 | any scripture about blessing from God? | Job | Jesusman | 189538
Is there something specific you are wanting, or are you asking for blessings in general? The reasons are that all of God's prophets, and the Apostles, and all of those saved can be technically concidered as blessed by God. If you're looking for specifics, then one that stands out is Job. After his trials by God, God blessed him several times over. Other examples of people being Blessed by God would be Abraham, David, Daniel .. the list goes on on. Is there anything specific you are looking for?
236 | root word study, "sons of God" OT | Job 38:7 | Jesusman | 50206
The term most commonly found is "Bene" or "Ben". It carries three Common meanings. The first is in Blood relatives. My dad mated with my mom, and, nine months later, I became their son. The Second is in terms of similarities. Let me explain. I am a son of God not because God mated with my mother and I was born nine months later. Therefore, I am not a blood son. However, I am a son of God through spiritual adoption as well as because I follow God's teachings. So, I am a son of God because I follow God. The Third meaning is in terms of Heratige. Jesus was a son of David, but David did not mate with a woman and have Jesus Nine months later. Through ancestry and lineage, Jesus was a son, "Decendant", of David. Understand? Now, with that, one needs to figure out what the author is referring to. In the case of Job, I do not think that he is referring to Angels. In fact, I do not believe that "Sons of God" ever refers to angels in the Bible. I think that, in Job, "Sons of God" is referring to believers in God. When the passage refers to them being before God, I believe that is a description of Worship. Part of the reason why I hold to this is found in Hebrews 1:5. In this verse, the question is asked "To which of the angels did HE ever say, 'thou art my son, today I have begotten thee?'" The answer is "NONE!" You will never find a passage where God claims an angel to be his son. So, with that, you have proof to say that not only is Lucifer not Jesus' brother, but that Jesus is not an angel. 237 | Dissapointment in this sites response... | Ps 16:11 | Jesusman | 199770
Greetings, Sex in any form is still sex. Be it for mating purposes, pleasure, anal sex, or oral sex. Sex is naturally intended for mating purposes as well as pleasure and intimacy between a husband and a wife. Your mouth was not intended to be an orifice for sexual gratification. It could be viewed as an unnatural use of the body. With that clarification in mind, Romans chapter one does provide the insight you might be searching for. It speaks about those who are sinful turning away from the natural uses of their body and began practicing sexual acts that were unnatural. This is specified as homosexuality and lesbianism, but could also include oral sex. Aside from that passage in Romans 1:18-32, I don't know about any other passage in the Bible that could be in reference to oral sex as being wrong or not. Even then, it would be dependant upon how you clarified oral sex. In anycase, sex in any form would be concidered immoral if it is with any partner that is not your spouse. Jesusman |

238 | could you explain paslm 23:3 please | Ps 23:3 | Jesusman | 192791
Well .. the 23rd Psalm is written about a Shepherd-king, by a shepherd turned king, from the perspective of the sheep. This particular verse is making a parralell to a shepherd's duties. A shepherd will guide his flock through the troubled areas along safe trails. David's king described here will do just that. He will lead the souls of the sheep along the true and safe path to salvation, which are the paths of righteous living. It will be made possible by this shepherd king being described. Jesusman |

239 | Usury, extortion and the poor | Prov 28:8 | Jesusman | 153395
I think this ties in with the story of Jesus and the rich man. The Rich man asked Jesus how he can reach heaven. Jesus replied that he should obey the law and the commandments. The rich man rpelied that he had. Then Jesus replies that the Rich man should give all his possessions to the poor and follow him. The Rich man couldn't cause he was wealthy. Jesus commented to the Disciples that it is easier for a Camel to enter the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter heaven. The idea of this verse and the passage in the gospels I just summarized is simple. A Wealthy person on average does not first care about the things of God. Instead, he is concerned about his wealth and how to make more. There is a unifying theme throughout the Bible that Wealth and power corrupts, forcing the Wealthy and Powerful to focus more on their money and authority and how they can get more than on to how they can best serve God with the money and power he gave them. Another unifying theme in the Bible is the care for the poor and less fortunate. Jesus himself said that when you help one of the poor, you also help him. I would say that this passage in Proverbs is reflecting the teachings and actions of Jesus. Jesusman |

Hello, Actually this would be closer to the Jewish views concerning prophecy and future events than Einstein's theory. To the Jews, the events that were prophecied by the Prophets sent by God were viewed as Past actions. Since God never lies, and that these events were told from God that they will happen, the Jews wrote them down in past tense. So, the question wasn't "Will these events take place?", but was "When are they going to take place?". In the Jewish perspective, these events were already completed in God's eyes, so they wrote them down as such. I hope this helps. Jesus Loves You! Jesusman |
