141 | Receiving Christ - Works? (2) Rom 10.17 | 1 Cor 2:14 | Huron | 95661
This is a continuation of a previous question re: receiving Christ equals works. (My brother and I disagree on decision theology). I was out of the country when my original question was circulating. I'd like to hear some points of view regarding regeneration. Which comes first regeneration, or faith? I thought faith came first by hearing the Word (Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God). I'm sure my brother would say that regeneration comes first. Thoughts? Huron |

Thanks John! I've got another question on regeneration that dovetails with this one. |

143 | Threatens to leave if believer attends | 1 Cor 7:15 | Huron | 117155
What if someone threatens to leave if the believer goes to church? (I'm not talking about a situation where the person goes to church every night, I'm talking about a believer that wants to go once a week.) Should you go to church and let the person who made the threat make the choice if they want to follow through with it or not? Thanks! |

144 | Threatens to leave if believer attends | 1 Cor 7:15 | Huron | 117259
Yes, we are talking about a spouse. The spouse tends to threaten to leave whenever a situation that demands some cooperation/communication comes up. In this situation, the believer explained to the spouse before marriage that he/they would be going to church at least twice a month. They didn't go for a while due to various factors, but now the believer wants to attend. The spouse told the believer that they would leave if the spouse attended church. Should the believer attend and let the chips fall where they may? Huron |

145 | Threatens to leave if believer attends | 1 Cor 7:15 | Huron | 117506
This is in the United States. The spouse would know if the believer went to church. I think you are right about talking to a counselor. |

146 | Holy Spirt w/ evidence of tongues? | 1 Cor 12:10 | Huron | 151162
Searcher56, Thanks for pointing that out. I agree with you that tongues will cease while love will never fail. I also see that tongues is said to "cease" while knowledge and Prophecy will be done away. Getting back to my original question, when will that be, and has that happened yet? Looks like we both have the same answer at this point - "not sure." |

147 | Help | Eph 2:8 | Huron | 110544
Dab, No mention of baptism in this verse (John 3:5), no mention of Jesus name, and no mention of speaking in tongues. Jesus is merely talking about the new birth with Nicodemus. Neither baptism, or speaking in Tongues are a requirement for salvation (Ephesians 2:8,9). Look at Abraham in Romans 4:10 - he was credited with righteousness BEFORE he received circumcision. 148 | Faith a gift? | Eph 2:8 | Huron | 213074
Am I correct in saying that according to this verse, faith is a gift? Thanks! |

149 | Yet another baptism question! | Col 2:12 | Huron | 131698
This is a cross reference from Romans 6:4. Now in Romans chapter 6 he is talking about sanctification. Here in Colossians chapter two, Paul doesn't appear to be when you look at this verse and include up to verse 14. My hunch is that baptism doesn't provide justification, but this verse does seem to point at justification. Secondly, how can you tell when the word baptism means "with water", and when it means "with the Holy Spirit". I appreciate all views on this, whether you agree with me or not. Regards, Huron |

150 | Yet another baptism question! | Col 2:12 | Huron | 131767
Well, the Spirit was definately there, and Johns baptism was with water, so I'd say both.

Tim, I'm going to think about this for a bit. Huron |

152 | Pre, post, or mid tribulation rapture? | 1 Thess 4:17 | Huron | 165833
I'm on the fence about pre-, post, and mid tribulation rapture. Anyone want to share some insights? Anyone have a good Biblical argument for one or the other? Thanks! Huron |

153 | Reconciling 1 Tim 2:4 with Rom 8:29 | 1 Tim 2:4 | Huron | 96577
How would one reconcile verses like 1 Tim 2:4, and 2 Pet 3:9 that speak of God desiring all men to be saved, with verses like Romans 8:29 and Ephesians 1:5? that speak of predestination? Note - I'm not trying to be divisive, I'm just wondering what some different viewpoints are. I welcome opinions from both points of view. Huron |

156 | My recent posts re: controversial topics | 2 Tim 2:24 | Huron | 96417
I respect what 2 Timothy 2:24 says about being quarrelsome. To those of you who contributed on my posts re: regeneration, prodigal son, works and others, I'd like to say thanks. I guess I just needed to think out loud. I hope I didn't start a controversy, though I get the impression that some thought my questions would. Now that we got that out of the way, maybe now I can answer some questions. Huron |

157 | Heavenly things required cleansing???? | Heb 9:23 | Huron | 114671
I'm puzzled. This verse is saying that heavenly things needed to be cleansed. What heavenly things? Why would THEY need to be cleansed? I've probably read this verse 50 times in the course of the last 20 years or so, and have never seen this. Now I'm stumped! Thanks! Huron |
