281 | TKO, does God operate differently today? | Acts | Grace and Truth | 49645
How can you say let's move on, when the question of spiritual gifts has not been answer by scripture from you or anyone with a question. Acts8:13-24 The spiritual gifts in the first centry was made posible through the laying on of hands ("Apostles hands") the third party was not able to do so! Also the Power came from God in Acts 2 and Acts 10. You have to admit that what people are calling the Holy Spirit today is a far cry from what was done in the first centry! Lets look at 1Cor 12:28-31 You all believe that God is still allowing gifts to be used the same as He did in the first centry, 1Cor 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. vs.29 is what need to be understood here today. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? We know the answer to these questions is no! So when someone ask why don't I speak with tongues, the answer is 1Cor12:29-31. Those of you who know thier Bible on this matter need to speak out, to help those who don't understand this teaching. Some believe that there are apostles living today, and prophets, we know that's not true, but yet we let this belief about speaking with tongues go on and on. In this forum all were hearing about are (tongues), not working miracles and the other gifts, no one seem to look for the more (excellent way) Paul spoke about in vs.31 In chapter 13:10 he says when that which is (perfect) comes that which in part will be done away with, (of corse you don't want to hear this part). There was a problem of misuse of gifts in Corinth this is why Paul had to speak on this issue. 1Cor 14 the main point is for the church to edify each other. (EDIFICATI0N AND EXHORTATION AND COMFORT) vs.3 is what should be desired. The book of James lets us know we have the Perfect Law of Liberty James 1:25 This Law teaches us how it could be used and not abused. So instread of looking for God's Holy Spirit to speak in tongues, look to save soul through the Power of the Gospel.

When a person becomes a child of God, the bible says we are sealed with the holy Spirit Eph.1:13 what should be understood is The Word of God in Heb.4:12 It's 'POWERFUL' if we let it dwell in our hearts and live faithful lives everbody will know who you are, and what you stand for. Was Jesus Created By God? by Wayne Jackson Christian Courier: Questions Tuesday, September 4, 2001 Description Could Jesus have been created by God before the Universe existed? While the Jehovah’s Witnesses make this claim, the Bible does not support it. Is there a possibility that before the Universe was created that God, the “Ancient of days,” was all alone, and that out of his own being he brought into existence the Word, who eventually became Jesus Christ? No, that is not a concept that can be harmonized with Bible truth. Consider the following: 1. Jehovah God explicitly declares that no other God existed – either before or after him. Note the testimony of Isaiah – “. . . [B]efore me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am Jehovah; and besides me there is no God” (Isa. 43:10-11). 2. Eternality is a prime characteristic of one who possesses the nature of deity. God is “from everlasting to everlasting” (Psa. 90:2). He is the “high and lofty One who inhabits eternity” (Isa. 57:15). Now, inasmuch as it is clear that the divine Word (Christ – Jn. 1:1, 14) possesses the nature of deity, one must conclude that he is intrinsically eternal. 3. The Old Testament explicitly declared the eternal nature of the preincarnate Christ. Isaiah refers to the “Prince of Peace” as “everlasting” (9:6). The prophet Micah says that, in reality, the “goings forth” of the Bethlehem baby have been from “of old, from everlasting” (5:2). 4. The New Testament is equally clear in this matter. Three times in John 1:1 the apostle employs the imperfect tense verb en (rendered “was”) to denote the “timeless existence” of the sacred person known as the Word. The eternal existence of the preincarnate antedates “the beginning,” to which John alludes, in this passage. 5. Jesus himself affirmed his eternal existence, when he said to the Jews: “Before Abraham was born, I am” (Jn. 8:58). The present tense form, ego eimi (“I am”) stands in contrast to the aorist form “was born” (genesthai - to begin to be, to come into existence). The two expressions contrast the eternal and the temporal. The Jews certainly caught the drift of what Christ was saying, i.e., that he was claiming eternality, therefore, the status of being God. That is why they sought to stone him. The expression “I am” points one back to Exodus 3:14, where Jehovah identifies himself as the “I AM,” i.e., the self-existent One. 6. In the book of Revelation, Jesus claims that he is “the first and the last, and the Living [present participle – always living] one” (1:17-18). He is also the “Alpha and the Omega” – first and last letters in the Greek alphabet (22:13; cf. 1:8; 21:6). These phrases assert the eternal nature of the One so described, and are applied in these texts to either God, the Father, or to Christ. It is not biblical, therefore, to assert that the second Person of the Godhead had a “beginning” in any way. Unfortunately, those of the Watchtower persuasion teach the heresy that Jesus was created by God originally. |

288 | when do I spake in tounges | Acts | Grace and Truth | 49133
Are you listening to what Paul is saying? All that a child of God does should edify another, if you know someone is sick, and you visit them with songs, prayer, and incouragement from the Word of God, that may be your gift! I don't think you would try to heal them, because you're not a doctor are you? We will always have people in need of some kind of help, mental or phyical God gave us professionals, hospitals, etc. to help with the things we can't do ourselves. But in the church our gifts are the fruit of the Spirit found in Gal5:22,23; 2Peter1:5-10 This is how God's Spirit works in our lives! Not speaking in unkown tounges and things like that. 289 | when do I spake in tounges | Acts | Grace and Truth | 49102
We are to let the WORD OF GOD guide us, We worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. Remember What Jesus said, That an evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign....Matt12:38-45 Be real to yourself, you know and I know that there's not a man alive that can raise the dead, or cause the blind to see, or restore an arm or leg. These are real miracles in the bible, this is what God allowed the first centry church to do. I notest that the only gift that is desired most is to speak with tounges, why not desire to raise the dead, or restore sight to the blind. Can you through the spirit speak Japanese, Greek, never having studied these languages? I don't think so. Just learn how to be a child of God, and leave the gifts where they are in the first centry. |

290 | What was Paul's last miracle? | Acts | Grace and Truth | 49028
Eph.4:5 say's there is one baptism! If spiritual gifts have not ceased, and there were nine gifts which ones still exist. AND I don't mean to be a hot rod. I'm just puzzled that so many people are hung-up on something that the bible say's was done away with after the complete word of God has been revealed. Unless we missed something some where. I'm one that trust God's Word and I seek to understand it as much as I can. I've been around people who say they speak in tounges, but what I heard just mock my Lords name. Tounges in the bible is speaking a language not your own.

Why did you ask the question when do I speak in tounges, if you think you know already. What is speaking in tounges to you? Have you every in your life spoke a language you never studied? In Acts that's what they did!
292 | What was Paul's last miracle? | Acts | Grace and Truth | 49020
What was the last miracle that Paul did? Acts28:8-9 Think! If God allow us to have the power of healing today how would men use it? Would they be honest and use to the gorly of God or not. I know you watch TV on Sunday's and week days these so called faith healers mis-using God's word, and His name. Just to make money, the nexts time you watch one of those shows look at how many are wearing glasses talking about healing someone without glasses! Why don't they heal them selves? Just allow God's Son Jesus to save man though the Gospel.
293 | Grace and Truth, why don't all believe? | Acts | Grace and Truth | 49013
My point is that we don't have to have gifts of tounges, healing, etc. to convince people. We need to Preach the Word! 2Tim 4:2 everywhere all over the world, so that the gospel can be heard. The Pure Word of God. (The Gospel is What Will Save Man)! Romans 1:16. |

* The means for the reception of spiritual gifts in the Christian age are not operative today. Gifts, in the first century, were bestowed by means of Holy Spirit baptism (Acts 2; 10), and through the laying on of the apostles1 hands (Acts 8:17, 18; 19:6; ” Tim. 1:6). Since there is no Holy Spirit baptism today (Eph. 4:5; Mt. 28:19, 20), and as there are no living apostles, it is obvious that, so far as biblical evidence is concerned, no spiritual gifts are being given to believers today. |
