2 | Wrong to divorce husband for bad actions | Bible general Archive 2 | Evangelica | 100841
I am going through the same thing, only my husband is claiming he is a christian. proof is in the fruit! anyways to answer your question, yes you are to stay with him. If he starts beating you to a pulp all the time then you can leave, because God wants his children to live in peace. The best thing to do is to continually pray to God throughout the day and while you are praying also pray about your husband and his salvation, and your situation. make sure you are living your daily life at home in front of him in a way that shows you are a Christian, who is full of love, patience, compassion, understanding and be a good listener. if there is something you can change of your self for your husband (as long as it is biblically ok) then do those things and one day you will find that he will come to the Lord. My mom had the same problem too but in a different way, her husband never claimed to be a Christian (looks like breaking the cycle for me didnt work even when i went looking for a christian, but it is all in God's plan for my life so im fine with it). it took him 14 years and a few years of just going to church, cause we always went, to check out why we go...and while i was gone out in the military couple years after highschool, i found that he got saved. God has a plan for your life, and his life. and if you pray, rely on God (firmly believing he will help you and be there to comfort you), and be Christ centered in your life....then you are being the best witness to him because he see's you living what you preach (so to speak). God bless, and if you have any other questions feel free to email me agapao@mail.com and if this is a guy leaving this message about his friend who is a girl, make sure you are seriously a platonic friend and do not interfere with God's plan for her life. Dont try to take over as her new "guy". This will mess up all 3 of your lives and God wont be happy that you jumped in the boat. Also if you are just helping out - thanks for searching for help for her, but make sure she finds a woman to help her and who can relate to her situation, so there are no sexual overtones or desires that start growing due to the two of you always being together. God bless! PS. Also if we do leave due to physical problems, we should try to get professional counceling to try and work it out and/or if that doesnt work...we are to continue to pray for our husband so that he will be saved, and the two of you can come back together again as husband and wife (unless he sleeps with another woman). then you are free because he has broken the marraige vow/contract God established. **Situations like these require time, patience, and a believer who knows and is grounded in scripture. Hold on to your hat and dig your feet in the ground. (this answer is not a legalistic one, it is a scriptural NT answer). |

3 | Leadership and Character per the Bible | Bible general Archive 2 | Evangelica | 100892
i would look at the requirements for pastor and deacons in the new Testament. that should give you an idea of what kind of life every Christian should live. also check out the book of Proverbs.
4 | Double Dutch? | Bible general Archive 2 | Evangelica | 100893
you know this is a great website for sharing the gospel. i was glad to have found the free evangelism packet on it. http://www.wayofthemaster.com/BiblicalEvangelismBooklet.pdf it shows how people use love, joy, happiness in their approach to people, but they are accepting Christ for the wrong reason if they do that. Cause they need to see why they need the Savior (salvation from the judgement to come)and then make a decision. *They need to know the true message of the Gospel. not a watered down version. |

6 | how can i get the powers of the holy spi | NT general Archive 1 | Evangelica | 100757
The Holy Spirit does not give us "powers". He gives us gifts. The gift of discernment, the gift of understanding, the gift of teaching, or preaching, or encouraging, or serving...ect. The Holy Spirit also empowers us to live for God by guiding and teaching us what scripture says when we are reading it. He also give us strength to tell others about the gospel message and helps us remember the verses to share with others.
7 | Women's roles in the church?? | NT general Archive 1 | Evangelica | 100759
This is a great question. Basically the scriptures tell us that Women are to be silent in church (the worship service), and are not to teach (adults). It also says that pastors and deacons are husbands who are to have one wife (meaning not married to 2 or 3 at a time). Women can teach little children as they would at home (provided that they are mature chritians who can answer questions kids ask). Women are also able to evangelize (share Jesus with the lost). They can be missionaries (but there should be men with her group so that the men will lead the church and so that the women will not try to take over the authority in the church - as eve told her husband to eat the fruit). Women can have fellowhship groups and do lots of good service for the Lord as Pheobe did in being a servant of Christ (just as all believers are). The only thing a woman cannot do in church is be a pastor, deacon, or teach adult men classes. They are also, according to scripture, to wear a veil (full length) over their hair so that their glory (their hair) is covered - this shows submission to the leaders of the church the church submits to Christ and Women are to submit to the men (godly submission... not pounding authority but gody authority). As this is what scripture teaches.
8 | Women's roles in the church?? | NT general Archive 1 | Evangelica | 100761
this is not about role in the church, this is about relation to God as one united group of people. this quote is often mis used and taken out of context (just as this person has answered)
9 | Women's roles in the church?? | NT general Archive 1 | Evangelica | 100762
it doesnt. people mis quote this verse and take it out of context.
10 | Why are NT epistles in that Bible order? | NT general Archive 1 | Evangelica | 100763
because they are in the order in which they were written (most of them), others were written discussing the same or similar topic such as 1 John, 2 John, 3rd John. If you check your bible at the begining of the chapter some bibles list the year in which the letter was written. The bible is listed book by book in chronological order, except, Job is moved for some reason (it was written before moses). |

11 | what are the churches in Revelation | NT general Archive 1 | Evangelica | 100764
they were actual churches at that time, but just as scripture always does...it means something else as well. it actually talkes about the 7 different time periods before Jesus comes back. we are Laodecia the last church age.
12 | Why are NT epistles in that Bible order? | NT general Archive 1 | Evangelica | 100836
funny thing is that all these branches of responses were not viewable or even on my screen when i answered your posting. but that is fine. at least you have found answers from others too.
13 | how can i get the powers of the holy spi | NT general Archive 1 | Evangelica | 100844
unfortunately, you are mistaken and it may be because you are in a denomination that is not teaching what scripture says. If you read and study scripture yourself, putting aside what anyone has told you about this subject, then you would see that Gifts of the spirit are as i listed them originally, and Fruit of the SPirit are patience, love, kindeness ect... For some reason, if you wrote this topic to start a discussion you should not do that, because this is a forum for people who do not understand something or are seeking an answer. As such, if someone answers it is your responsibility to read the bible and study that answer after someone posts an answer for you. and to answer one of your other questions... the baptism of the Holy Spirit happens at conversion..when a person is saved. Everyone who is saved has the Holy Spirit as the guarantee of their salvation, the seal of God, and because we have him in us, he will be our councelor and guide in our new life in Christ as well as our scriptural teacher (this is per scripture, not my opinion, but i agree with it because it is in scripture). |

14 | Why 4 Gospels? | NT general Archive 1 | Evangelica | 100875
this is a great question! the answer is God had them written for different reasons. MATTHEW is the gospel of "the King" and is intended for a jewish reader. The geneology is there because a king needs one, and also to show the fulfillment of the prophecy that Christ will come from Judah through David therefore He is the comming King... and jews needed to read about the signs and wonders he preformed (because Jews want signs in order to believe). MARK is the gospel of the "Perfect Servant" and is primarily for Gentiles. LUKE is the gospel of the "Perfect Man" again it is primarilly for Gentiles. JOHN is the gospel of "The Son of God" and shows the deity of Christ. |

15 | After betraying Christ, Judas died when? | NT general Archive 1 | Evangelica | 100877
i agree | ||||||
16 | Saved by belief or belief and baptism? | NT general Archive 1 | Evangelica | 100879
the answer is.... Scripture states it is by faith alone that we are saved. If we are saved, we will obey God's command. Public baptism is symbolic of what we already believe: we died to our old life and are raised to a new life in Christ. that is all it is for. just as the Lord's Supper is symbolic: rememberance of Jesus body and blood on the cross was the total work done for our salvation. we do not actually drink blood and eat his body. it is symbolic.
17 | What are the "12 fruits" of the spirit? | NT general Archive 1 | Evangelica | 100881
need to see a difference. Some people dont seem to realize the difference between GIFTs and FRUIT. Fruit of the Spirit is found in Galatians. It is one fruit. it is the evidence of this fruit in your life that shows you are saved and have the Holy Spirit (happens at salvation). In other words, if you have Love, Peace, Patience, Kindness, ect... those unsaved notice you are different from them, and believers notice you are just like them. |

18 | Saved by belief or belief and baptism? | NT general Archive 1 | Evangelica | 100883
you have to take into consideration all the verses that talk about salvation, baptism, and the holy spirit...otherwise people take things out of context and some one ends up beleiving something that is not biblical. Yes we must belive and then be baptised. baptism is just symbolic of what we believe. Just to clarify: this is water baptism we are talking about, not the baptism of the Holy Spirit (which happens at the momemt of conversion...he lives in us to help us live our new life in Christ from the moment we believe. and he is our teacher of the scriptures). |
||||||
19 | What I am asking is baptism a requiement | NT general Archive 1 | Evangelica | 100885
the word for baptism in the new testament, particularly when John the Baptist is baptizing (OT believers looked forward to the messiah, NT beleivers look back and see Jesus on the cross). The word in the original language was immursion in water.
20 | BOOK OF LIFE | NT general Archive 1 | Evangelica | 100887
the answer is no. if you are really saved, then the HOly SPirit lives in you, and you are sealed by God..the HOly SPirit is the guarantee of our salvation. Jesus will never leave us nor forsake us. these are all bible verses in NT (dont remember where though). If someone thougth they were saved because they believed in the gospel message, but then never gave their life to Christ....then they may realize they never were saved...and then come to Jesus be saved, and live a new life because he has given his life to Christ to be used by God, instead of us using God to try and get what we want. Hope that helps! |
