361 | How does one Master sin? | Gen 4:7 | Emmaus | 142400
Submit you will completely to the will of the Father in Jesus and He will master sin if you allow Him to master you. Jesus mastered every temptation. How? "Not my will, Thy will be done" was His prayer of submission to the Father in the Garden of his agony. In submitting to the will of the Father He mastered sin in his resurrection even when it seemed that our sin had killed Him. God in the Old Testament was always telling Israel not to try to win their battles in the strengthe of their own flesh, but to submit to Him and trust in Him and let Him fight their battles and gain the victory for them. |

365 | Why identify the cities and not the man? | Luke 10:30 | Emmaus | 142135
mommaps, I haven't really thought a lot about it. I suspect that this passage may have come to the minds of some of Jesu' listeners as he told the parable. What I found interesting is that it involve Samaritans (northern Israel), Jews (Judahites). they closthesd them, annointed them with oil, place them on thier donkeys and took them to Jericho. Verry similar to what the Good Samaritan did. Beyond that I have not given it much additional thought. Emmaus |

366 | Why identify the cities and not the man? | Luke 10:30 | Emmaus | 142129
Mommapbs, See the story in 2 Chronicles 28:8-15. See any similarities? There are moral and theological lessons to be gained from the story of the Good Smaritan. The moral lesson is that the priest and levite chose the letter of the Old Covenant Law to preserves their ritual purity (lEV 21:1-3), rather than the Spirit of the Law exemlified by the Samaritan. The theological lesson in in an allegorical or typological interetation. The man is Adam. He is assaulted by Satan and his legions, stripped of his immortality and left for dead in sin. The priest and the levite represent the inability of the Old Covenant to restore him to new life. Jesus comes as the Samaritan to rescue him from death. He takes the man to the in, which represents the Church. St Augustine gave the above interpetation. Emmaus |

Edwardeddy2, "2563 The heart is the dwelling-place where I am, where I live; according to the Semitic or Biblical expression, the heart is the place "to which I withdraw." The heart is our hidden center, beyond the grasp of our reason and of others; only the Spirit of God can fathom the human heart and know it fully. The heart is the place of decision, deeper than our psychic drives. It is the place of truth, where we choose life or death. It is the place of encounter, because as image of God we live in relation: it is the place of covenant." "2517 The heart is the seat of moral personality: "Out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication. . . . " The struggle against carnal covetousness entails purifying the heart and practicing temperance: Remain simple and innocent, and you will be like little children who do not know the evil that destroys man's life." "2519 The "pure in heart" are promised that they will see God face to face and be like him. Purity of heart is the precondition of the vision of God. Even now it enables us to see according to God, to accept others as "neighbors"; it lets us perceive the human body - ours and our neighbor's - as a temple of the Holy Spirit, a manifestation of divine beauty." And I will take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, Ezek 11:20 that they may walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances and do them.
