221 | What does "In the name of Jesus" mean? | John 14:14 | Cyclist | 57224
Kalos, I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever! I will keep a song of praise to the Lord my God in my heart the day long! I will sing to the Lord! Sorry for the delay in getting back with you. I did read the entire article. My questions still stand. These are the same questions but maybe not the exact wording as in my prior posting. Is this article inspired by revelation, or, the Spirit of the living God, or, is it man's wisdom? What about my prayers, and the prayers of countless others who ended their prayers "In the name of Jesus, Amen." and had prayer answered? Perhaps these are questions just for me, and, I may need to just discuss it with the Lord. I did find some scripture where the name of Jesus was used by the wrong people, in the wrong spirit. It is below. Blessings to you, and, thank you for taking time to respond to my postings. Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! Acts 19:13 But also some of the Jewish exorcists, who went from place to place, attempted to name over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, "I adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches." Acts 19:14 Seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. Acts 19:15 And the evil spirit answered and said to them, "I recognize Jesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you?" Acts 19:16 And the man, in whom was the evil spirit, leaped on them and subdued all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. Acts 19:17 This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived in Ephesus; and fear fell upon them all and the name of the Lord Jesus was being magnified. |

222 | What does "In the name of Jesus" mean? | John 14:14 | Cyclist | 57227
Kalos, This is a continued from my prior posting. I was at my daughter's home and had to leave before I expected to, so, I did not get to complete it. I have read postings in this forum that say that you do not have to be in any particular place and/or be in any particular position to pray to the Lord our God. This I agree with. I recieved Jesus Christ into my life while behind the steering wheel of a car, driving on a country road. In addition, I talk with the Lord all day long. I seek Him in everything that I do, and, I do not always say "In the name of Jesus, Amen". I know without a doubt that the Lord Jesus is with me 24/7, and, I know that He is listening to me always. He is my friend, may counselor, my Savior, my everything. So much so that every thought is challenged, and, brought under the obedience of Christ. I love Him so much! I have also read in some postings, which, again, I agree with, that say that talking with the Father is like talking with our "Dad" or "Daddy". I can remember as a boy talking with my dad about anything and everything. So it is with my heavenly father. Sometimes though, when I became a young man, I needed to be in a certain place, sitting face to face, with my dad to discuss serious issues, issues that were of great importance to me. This is the same with my heavenly father. I actually get on my knees before Him and lift my hands to Him, every morning. The hour is late, for me anyway, and I am simply rambling, forgive me. Again, I appreciate the article and your postings In Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

John the baptist speaking of Jesus: Matt 3:11 "As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. 224 | information on speaking in tounges | Acts | Cyclist | 36427
Submarine43, Just to add to the very good answer given by Love Fountain, 1 Cor chapters 12, 13 and 14 address speaking in tongues. Some Scriptures that you may find interesting are: 1 Cor 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling symbol. (KJV) 1 Cor 14:5 I would that ye all spake with tongues but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. (KJV) 1 Cor 14:19 however, in the church I desire to speak five words with my mind so that I may instruct others also, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue. 226 | Is baptism necessary for salvation? | Acts 10:48 | Cyclist | 53907
Grace and Truth, The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear! The Lord is the strength in my life, of whom shall I be afraid! Praise the Lord for His loving kindness! Praise the Lord! The above has nothing to do with the subject of your post, I just enjoy giving my Father prasie and glory and honor at the beginning of my postings. Point made and taken on baptism! Please don't yell anymore. God bless you, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

227 | Is baptism necessary for salvation? | Acts 10:48 | Cyclist | 53912
Hank, Agreed! One can conduct a search in the forum on baptism and learn all of the pros and cons, and , scripture references from A to Z. There is nothing left to be said. In fact, in one of the posts it says something to the effect "let's just agree to disagree and go on" (Did not want to take time to look through all of the posts to get it word for word). Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Grace and Truth, Please forgive me if I misunderstood your bold writing. Further more, since I had nothing interesting or important to offer in my reply to your post regarding baptism, I should have just "kept my mouth (keyboard in this case) shut". Please forgive me if I've offended you in any way Grace and Truth. I will withdraw from this discussion. God bless you! Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! jbw, Praise the name of the LORD our God who created the heavens and the earth and the seas and all that therein is! Praise Him for sending His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins that we would be saved! If you are serious about your question. Here is some scripture that holds the answer. Acts 16:27 When the jailer awoke and saw the prison doors opened, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. Acts 16:28 But Paul cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Do not harm yourself, for we are all here!" Acts 16:29 And he called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas, Acts 16:30 and after he brought them out, he said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" Have you seen/listened to Joel Osteen? If so, what do you think? I have always appreciated your postings and have always looked for your posts when searching particular subjects for guidance because it is evident that you are truely an elder in Christ. 1 Tim 5:17 The elders who rule well are to be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching. Thank you in advance! Your brother in Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

231 | No Joyce Meyer?????????????????? | Acts 17:11 | Cyclist | 72190
Dear Hank, I will glorify the King of kings and Lord of lords who is Christ Jesus! I will magnify the name of the Lord! Praise be to Him alone! Thank you for the response. In February I will be active on this forum for one year. I have grown spiritually by leaps and bounds since my involvement. I sometimes view my early posts and chuckle. Thankfully the Lord our God has given His holy spirit, His holy word, and placed those like yourself on this forum to help one like me to sort through the posts. I am never discouraged by the postings the are way off track, but, I do have difficulty keeping myself from lashing out at those who attack long time members of this forum. My favorite place in the word of God is in John 15 where Jesus is talking with His disciples, giving them the commandment to love one another. Besides your posts, the posts by the following get my attention when I desire to learn the truth about God's word: Ray, EdB, kalos, Tim Moran, Pastor Glenn, inmyheart, Makarios, Mommapbs, justme, and Emmaus and John Reformed who have become very dear brothers via e-mail. I probably missed a few in my list. God has faithfully answered my prayer that I not become one who pushes my own opinion or views on anyone else and to love others as He has commanded. As a result I have thoroughly enjoyed learning from this forum. I now have a new favorite verse. One that was posted by Emmaus. John 3:30 "He must increase, but I must decrease." Blessed be the name of the Lord forever! Well, don't exaclty know why I wrote all of that, but, I did. Time to get to bed. I have an appointment at the house of the Lord in the morning that I want to keep and I like to be well rested to receive what ever He has for me. Bless you my elder! Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Jesified, I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever! I will praise and glorify the name of my GOD the day long! Blessed be the name of the Lord! Praise Him for His love and mercy and grace! This is my first exchange with you. I read your personal profile. I pray that the Lord our GOD bless you in your ministry. You write: "When I say that 'faith activates God' I mean that when you have faith in God that He will provide a particular thing, that is when God sends it. For example, Jesus healed people. There are two separate instances where the Bible says Jesus saw someone’s faith (Mark 2:5, Matthew 9:22). In both instances the individuals got what they had faith for; healing. If you will, please review John 5:2 through 5:14. Was this man's faith in the act of entering the water? His faith was not in Jesus' healing power prior to being healed because the man did not know who healed him until afterward. Why did Jesus heal this man? Was it just to prove that He had authority over the sabbath day? He does without a doubt! Why did Jesus heal this man without revealing himself to him? Why didn't Jesus say to the man "Your faith has made you well"? In Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Jesified, I will glorify the King of kings and Lord of lords who is Christ Jesus! Blessed be the perfect Lamb of God who thought not of himself but gave His own life for our sins! I have read through your posts (answers and notes). I apologize for not doing so before I responded to your note dated 1/11/03 at 2:57 AM. If I had read through them I would not have began an exchange with you at all. I became a part of this forum in February 2002 to discuss openly and study the word of the Lord my God. Your posts portray you as a self proclaimed expert and instructor in all biblical discussion hinging on the fact that you are studying to be a full time minister. I will be directed by the Minister of my home Church in private unless I ask direction of an elder that is part of this forum. If I could I would some how erase or retract my original response. By the way, Are you somehow employed by TBN? There is one particular thing I would like to make very, very clear to you. I am not a WELL WISHER. You write: "Thanks for your well-wishing". When I wrote to you that I pray that the Lord our GOD bless you in your ministry, I meant just that. Praying to the one true GOD is not well wishing as far as I am concerned. No, I am going before the creator of the heavens and the earth and the seas and all that there is therein. I want you to know without a doubt that I did pray to the Lord our God for you. Did you for me? or are you just wishing me well? You write: "If you don't believe that a bridge can hold you, do you walk out on the bridge? Of course not, ......" To me faith in the Lord our God, the Creator of all things, is stepping out as He leads me even if no bridge exists. He will make one! As far as healing is concerned. I do believe and have witnessed the healing power of GOD. However, I will not go into that on this public forum. I pray that if I am in need of healing, the Lord my God would heal me for His purpose and not necessarily for the purpose of fullfilling the needs of the flesh for my personal well being. Well, from reading your posts I sense that this may light a fire. I am at dave@gowithats.com or dunzicker@charter.net. John 3:30 "He must increase, But I must decrease". Cyslist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

I will praise the Lord my God who parted the river Jordan! I will praise the Lord my God who sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins! I will praise the Lord my God! Your post really sums up and answers, for me anyway, all of the questions that could be asked about speaking in tounges. Your writing in this post I know will always come to my mind when and if I should ever discuss the subject of speaking in tounges. Thank you for your being a blessing to this forum! 236 | The Gospel the sole means of salvation? | Rom 1:16 | Cyclist | 39571
John Reformed, Praise the LORD for His loving kindness and His mercy! I consider it a priviledge and an honor to get on my knees before GOD, for He is kind and righteous and loving and merciful! Blessed be the LORD forever! I read the entire thread on this subject, particularly "What about those who do not hear?" and "Is hearing the Gospel the only way?" I beleive, because of examples in the scriptures, that GOD can use anything in His creation at anytime to reach any one. Did he not call to Moses by means of a burning bush? Did he not part the sea? Did he not bring water from a rock? Is the arm of the Lord too short? Did he not put flesh upon dry bones? Did he not speak to Pharoh, who did not have a relationship with God, in a dream so that Joseph could interpret it? Did he not cause a donkey to speak to Balaam? Didn't Jesus say to the pharasees that if the disciples stopped praising him that the stones would cry out? Didn't Jesus appear to Paul, who persecuted the beleivers, along the road? Will He not use any means He wants to reach all? Whether by our mouths or by some other means? His mercy endures forever! Your brother in Christ, Cyclist |

237 | The Gospel the sole means of salvation? | Rom 1:16 | Cyclist | 39598
Brother John, Give thanks to the LORD! He is good! His mercy endures forever! Bear with me brother John, I always enjoy giving praise to God before making my point. It usually has nothing to do with the point that I am going to make. I just cannot contain it! I don't go around the office running and shouting nor do I in public, although I do inwardly. Anyway, Good point. I'm eager to see any additional postings on this subject. In Jesus, Cyclist |

Dear John, The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear! The Lord is the strength in my life, of whom shall I be afraid! What a very interesting post! I've read it through twice and have now printed it. I am going to take it home and do some studying. Thank you! I feel a growth spurt coming on! God Bless, Cyclist |

239 | The Gospel the sole means of salvation? | Rom 1:16 | Cyclist | 39729
Brother John Reformed, Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD! Praise ye the LORD! Thank you for posting that hymn. I've sung it meself several times but never really took time to understand it, until now. I've read your posting to me 4 times now. I've read Romans 9,10,11 twice through, very slowly so I could absorb it. I've listened to Romans 8,9,10,11 in my car, I have the KJV on CD, on the way to the office and I will listen on the way home. You post "Nevertheless God preordains what soever happens." and "Every one who God elected unto salvation from the beginning will be saved." I have 2 questions that are presented to increase my understanding and not to challenge you, and, certainly not the LORD my GOD. 1 Does God change his plans along the way? 1 Chr 21:15 And God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it; but as he was about to destroy it, the LORD saw and was sorry over the calamity, and said to the destroying angel, "It is enough; now relax your hand." And the angel of the LORD was standing by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. Amos 7:6 The LORD changed His mind about this. "This too shall not be," said the Lord GOD. Jonah 3:10 When God saw their deeds, that they turned from their wicked way, then God relented concerning the calamity which He had declared He would bring upon them. And He did not do it. 2 Would you please give more detail, if possible, on your interpretation of Romans 9? If I understand correctly from the point you made in your post, God is raising up the anti-Christ for His purpose as he did pharaoh, and, God raised up satan for His purpose. Scripture reference would help. I must go out of town tomorrow on business so I will look for your posting on Friday 3/22. Always your brother in Christ Jesus, my Savior and my Lord. I love Him! Dear Brother John, All praise and glory and honor be to GOD our Father who created all things for His pleasure! While I have breath, I shall praise the LORD! Thanks for the welcome back. Congradulations on the new addition to your family! God blessed us with a new grand daighter 4 months ago. Being a grandparent is a true blessing! I have enjoyed sharing with you on this subject, in fact, I continued on in the Word of GOD and recieved more understanding through the Word (Eph. 1:3,4,5) and your posts, of the which I thank you for. Thank you for taking time with me on this. You are a true brother in Christ. I've reached a new level of convidence and boldness in the Holy Spirit that I had not known before through this discussion. Not confidence in myself, God forbid! for there is no confidence in the flesh, but the confidence that God is in control and has predestinated everything! There is apsolutely nothing that He does not know or see or hear, and, that He has not preordained. Lord please forgive me of any former doubts, I do repent! Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, Eph 1:4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love Eph 1:5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, Thank you again my brother. I eagerly look forward to sharing further with you on the forum in other areas. I'm so glad that I'm a part of the family of GOD, joint heirs with Jesus, cleansed by His blood. Praise be GOD, and to His Son Jesus Christ whom He predestined to die for our sins. God's blessings to you and your family. Always, your brother in Christ, Cyclist |
