I don't want to offend anyone ,but lets not play with Gods word to make it fit what we think. Baptism is mentioned 59 times in the Bible. Salvation and forgivness of sins is a conditional pardon; if it weren't then everyone would go to heaven and we know this isn,t the case. Baptism along with confession, repentance and belief are all conditions that must be met to receive the gift of salvation. Baptism is also an act of obedience unto the gosple. Enough of my talking read the Bible. Acts 2:38, Infact read the whole book of Acts in every instance of salvation or conversion baptism took place before conversion.1Peter 3:21 Many people may try and explane that baptism is not needed but 1Peter 3:21 still says baptism saves us. Some may say we are saved by faith alone ,but faith alone is not faith at all it is a lie. Abraham had faith but not until God tested him by offering his son Issac as a sacrifice.John chap. 14-15 Here we read that if we love God we will obey His commandments baptism is a command. Eph 4:5, Col 2:12 Please don't just take someones word but sudy this in Gods word. Baptism for the forgiveness of sin is truth and biblical its written in the scriptures 59 times, however salvation by saying the sinners prayer or asking Jesus into your heart isn't found even once. Matt.7:21 doing the will of God is more important than crying out. Faith is born with the obedience of a broken heart not the words of a clever mind.

hello justme, Forming a complete understanding of Gods word to me is very important and to help me do this I try to remember "The sum of thy word is thruth" (Ps. 119:160). I agree that salvation is by grace alone, however this is Gods part what about man's part? Food for thought: What about the Law of Pardon and induction into the Church. Rom 6:17 says there is a form of teaching to be followed what is it? Salvation is only found IN CHRIST how does a person become IN CHRIST or INTO THE BODY which is the CHURCH which belongs to CHRIST (1Cor. 12:13) (Rom 6:3; Gal. 3:27). What is the pattern of sound teaching spoken of in 2Timothy1:13? When Paul was baptized was it a command making it essential or just a sign? |

You speak of outward show of inward work baptism is an act of obedience an obligation that all christians make to God this obligation is what Paul is reminding the Christians of in Rom.chp 6. Saving faith is a faith that requires obeying God without the action or obedience there is no faith. A man said to a crowd I'm going to cross a tight rope across Niagra Falls pushing a willbarrow does anyone believe I can do this? The crowd with enthusiasm yelled YES. He replied ok one of you believers come get in the willbarrow. There were no voluteers. All believed in thier minds but none believed in thier hearts enough to act. |

Hi Joe, I think we are close to agreement let me clear up what I,m trying to say. I'm glad you mentioned Hebrews 11 I believe it proves what I intended to say. Since I brought up Abraham lets focus on him with some mention of the others. Notice in these cases of faith that after having faith that each person was in action DOING. HEB 11:3 BY FAITH WE UNDERSTAND 11:4 BY FAITH ABEL OFFERED 11:5 BY FAITH ENOCH PLEASED GOD 11:7 BY FAITH NOAH BUILT 11:8 BY FAITH ABRAHAM OBEYED 11:9 BY FAITH HE MADE 11:17 BY FAITH ABRAHAM OFFERED ISAAC WHAT I'M SAYING IS IS THAT FAITH (JUST IN YOUR MIND BELIEVING JESUS IS GODS SON IS NOT SAVING FAITH)FAITH IS ONLY SAVING FAITH WHEN IT IS COMPLETED WITH OBEDIENCE TO THE GOSPEL. SAVING FAITH IS FAITH AND ACTION TOGETHER NOTHING LESS. I think James says this better James2:14-26 What good is it my brothers if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? James 2:21 Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar. 22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says " Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness". 24 You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone. |

Water as a motif in the Bible is symbolic as a cleaser or destroyer of impurities and symbolic of salvation. The flood waters destroyed wickedness and saved Noah and his family. This is why 1Peter 3:18-21 says that eight people Noah and his family were saved through the water notice that they were not saved from the water by the ark but through the water. This water they were saved through represents baptism in that it saves us from sin not by some physical power like as the removal of dirt from the flesh but as a pledge by the believer by being obedient to Gods command of baptism. Because the believer has through faith been obedient he can now have a good conscience toward God because he knows he has done what God ask. It saves you by the power in the resurrection of Christ. The IT that saves you is the water and baptism thats mentioned early in verse 21. The water has no power itself. But when you act in faith and are baptized you place yourself under Gods power which through Jesus's resurrection defeated death for the whole world. Jesus freely died for us he freely extends his grace to us by no power of our own could we have ever made salvation posible. But we must accept this gift when one is baptized believing that Jesus is God's son and having faith this is acceptence of the gift. The water in baptism represents the tomb or grave where Jesus lay for three days while he was dead. The blood of Christ washes away our sins. Lets go back to the cross remember Jesus was already dead when the soldier cast a spear into his side and out flowed blood and water. Isn't it interesting that the scripture mentions both the blood and water. Therefore Jesus shed his blood in that he died for our sins there can be no forgivness of sins without the sheding of blood as a sacrifice to pay our sin debt. Jesus shed his blood in his death. Rom chapter 6 says that we are baptized into his death the reason we are baptized into Christ death is so we can come into contact with His blood. This is not symbolic the symbol of his blood is in the fruit of the vine during communion. Remember at the last supper He said that it represented his blood. The gospel in short is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Rom6 designates baptism as the gospel in that it is the death, burial, and resurrection of us with Christ. The form of teaching that freed them from being slaves of sin is baptism as I have mentioned not just getting wet. This form is also obeying the gospel. Taking the stand that belief alone saves is in conflict with too many other scriptures in the Bible especially James chapter 2 and the parrable of the rich young ruler. He asked Jesus what to do for eternal life but he could not do it and went away sorrowful there are things people must do to be saved. Plip.2:12 work out your salvation with fear and trembling. |

Prayon thanks for such a speedy response. I agree with most of your answer like using the word of God as a complete guide. But I'm afraid that people sometimes put too much trust in their emotins and feelings. Believing and obeying GOD is more important and safer than our feelings. Because peoples beliefs can control their emotions and peoples beliefs arn't allways right.

11 | Mt 1:16, Luke 3:23 different fathers? | Luke 3:23 | Christian tim | 72166
In Luke the genealogy is a literal bloodline kinship to Jesus. However in Matthew the genealogy is broken down into three groups of 14 generations giving the thrown line showing that in the 1st century that Jesus is the heir to the thrown. He is king. There is no discrepancy.

14 | BUT NOT ADAM | Rom 8:20 | Christian tim | 71128
Yes GOD new that man would sin. God had even at this time set the plan of salvation into motion. God loves us and wants us to love Him in return. God gives man the free will to do as he chooses. It may sound strange ,but God can even use our sin to bring us closer to Him. Eve was not deceived in ignorance but She new in advance that God had told Her not to eat of the fruit. She was willfully disobedient and knowingly disobedient. After all Adsm and Eve both tried to hide in shame from God. Adam was as guilty of sin as Eve ,He ate the fruit of his own free will. Before sin man had no worries, But now we need God even more He has paid the debt(COL. 2:14) of sin for us He has ransomed us bought us with the blood of our dear Savior Jesus.(MARK 10:45)
