41 | I need help :D | Acts 17:11 | ChildofGod1988 | 201021
On a side note, please apply this principle to not only biblical doctrine, but to scientific evidence/arguments from both creationist and evolutionist. An example of why we should guard our selves is the "Lost Day" story that has been used to support the validity of the Bible. It is false and the Bible doesn't need to be supported/defended by false doctrines or evidence. It has drawn many well meaning Christians into this lie and it reflects poorly on us and the bible. I urge you to visit apologeticspress.org The Lord is my strong tower. God bless :D |

42 | An interesting discussion/question | Romans | ChildofGod1988 | 204923
Dear fellow studiers of the word, I have recently discussed with someone, the merits and demerits, of predestination. During the discussion, he asked me a question about those who have never heard the Gospel. I remember that during my personal study, I read about Gods will and plan for those people (who i suppose could also include young children and those unborn). Could anyone please help me locate this passage? I want to thank all of you who are so willing to offer help, advice, knowledge, and directions when asked. God bless you all. |

43 | An interesting discussion/question | Romans | ChildofGod1988 | 204955
Dear Tamara, Thanks for the response. You actually brought up most of the points that my friend raised during our discussion. And my "rebuttal" for lack of a better word, was this. John 3:16. God loved THE WORLD, and sent his son, so that all MIGHT(not WOULD grant you) be saved. In your 3rd to last paragraph, I was interested that you gave a specific, and divided, interpretation of mercy and justice. In God these things are intertwined. They are not separate. You are quite right when you say that God is just, in that he requires payment for sins. But He is merciful because He provided Christ as atonement for our sins. Everyone who hears the gospel must CHOOSE to accept Christs sacrifice. I believe that God knows every choice we will make. However, If he made this choice for us, would not the point of Christs death be made moot??? And so there for would we be responsible for our choice? According to the example of justice we have in the bible(which is Gods example to us), It would be unjust to punish someone for a crime you made them commit. And if God truly destined some to be saved, and the rest to die. Isn't He making the choice for the ones he doesn't save? I would like to direct you to John 6. Specifically verse 40. Gods will is that ALL be saved through faith in Jesus. How can that be His will if He then turns around and destines some to heaven, and the rest to hell. It makes his statement in John 6:40 a lie. Doesn't it?? My friend then pointed out that "Man doesn't make the choice, someone is only saved because God reaches out to him." God destines those to be saved. I asked him, what then does Jesus mean in verses 43-51? It seems to me, that even though God first reaches out to someone, they still have a choice to make. Believe in what has been revealed to you, or don't believe. I appreciate the time you took in your post. However I disagree that God destines one to hell and not the other. For that is the core of calvanism/ predestination. It sounds harsh, but that is what it boils down to. God bless you all and have a good day |

How ever, God said that he sent his son Jesus for the WORLD.(john 3:16) He also says it is his will that all should come to him.( John 6:35-40) It sounds to me like God wants no one to spend eternity away from Him. When someone askes me "If the Gospel alone saves, then what about the heathen in Africa who never heard?," I respond first with, God is merciful, and He has a plan for them. And next with, What does it matter? You have heard the Gospel and now are presented with a choice... What will/have you choose/chosen?. God bless you , CoG1988 |

45 | Does 'foreknew' mean 'foreordained? | Romans | ChildofGod1988 | 205102
Think about this. Does God knowing what choices we will make mean that He makes us make those choices? Not at all, His foreknowledge does not make us any less responsible for our choices.

47 | IF HE AINT REAL, THEN IM CRAZY | Rom 8:28 | ChildofGod1988 | 210781
Hello fellow Members, I have a praise report. In the word we are told that God knows our hearts. We are told that He knows that which is best for us. And he promises to do what is best for us, if we trust in Him. I would like to share a testimony, praisin God for His blessing, grace, and mercy. I recently went through a VERY difficult relationship, which I fully realize was brought about by my blind eyes and deaf ears, and it left me with nowhere to turn but God. One of my greatest desires is to find THE girl that I am to marry, and marry her :) Well after the relationship fell apart, I reached the point of saying "God I am letting you bring her to me," He was almost IMMEDIATELY faithful in bringing her to me. Not three months later, a girl from california, who is the sister of a friend of mine (whom I diliked very much not 6 months ago). This girl and I ended up going to visit the local water falls because she was bored( having been pinned up in her hotel room for 3 days). As we talked, I kid you not, without soliciting the information, she began to check off every item on my list of things I am looking for in a girl. Two weeks later after she had returned home, She was led to the Lord( I was blessed to be able to assist God in this), and two days later we began dating from 1500 miles away. Now our relationship has progressed and she and I feel that we will get married. She is studying to become a teacher. Well the program she is in, is offerd at a university in georgia, outside of the town my family moved to 1 and a half years ago. The school happened to also be one of the best schools for this program in the US. And PRAISE GOD SHE GOT ACCEPTED INTO THAT SCHOOL!!! I wish I could convey to you all the amazing way God has orchistrated this, but I feel that I couldnt even if I tried. I hope that this brings conformation, hope, and joy to any who read this post. May God bless you all, CoG88 |

48 | Rejection means never knew? | Eph 4:3 | ChildofGod1988 | 206093
How does that square with 2 Peter 2:18-22?? This is an interesting passage. It CLEARLY intimates, that these false teachers knew the way (Know means that they personally knew, intimately). If it can happen to a false teacher, it can happen to anyone who chooses what they did... to return to their old ways. Your right in one area, I disagree in another. I agree that one must choose to reject the gift they have been given/are offered. But I disagree that "Those who reject their salvation were never born again to begin with."For one simple reason. Only God truly knows the heart, to say you do is wrong and untrue. Now that I have said my piece, I would like to know what you think. I have discussed this before with a friend who is a Calvinist. Thanks so much for your time sir, God bless!! |

49 | Rejection means never knew? | Eph 4:3 | ChildofGod1988 | 206099
2 Pet 2:18 For speaking out arrogant words of vanity they entice by fleshly desires, by sensuality, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error, 2 Pet 2:19 promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved. 2 Pet 2:20 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. 2 Pet 2:21 For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them. I reread the verse and it still seems to me that the author is referring to those purveyors of false doctrine, as well as believers in these doctrines who have left the true One. I also looked up the definition of the word know 1:be aware of the truth of something; have a belief or faith in something; regard as true beyond any doubt 2:be familiar or acquainted with a person or an object When the bible says that they had "known the way of righteousness," it means they had an intimate knowledge of it. At least that is what I think. I am still very interested in your response sir, and please know that I take your opinion very seriously. Thanks for your time, God bless!!! CoG88 (andy) |

50 | Rejection means never knew? | Eph 4:3 | ChildofGod1988 | 206264
No sir! I don't think that John 6:39 contradicts 2 Peter. It cant. However, I do think that when God says "That all He has given Me, I should lose nothing," that we cant give up our salvation. Look closely at the language used."Should," "may". It sounds like it is Gods desire to see this happen. But not everyone will do what God desires. Not if God has given us free will, right? Read 2 Peter 2:20 please, it says: "For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first." I don't think that the false prophets were ever saved, but it speaks of those who had the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It still sounds to me as if you can throw away the gift that you have been given. And then the state you are in is a BAD one. |

51 | Mind pickin | 2 Tim 3:16 | ChildofGod1988 | 208568
Hello my friends. Once again I would like to pick the minds of the members of this forum. First I would like to ask, and please forgive me if this seems blasphemous or uncouth, is the OT geared more as a way for us to see the outworking of Gods will leading to the eventual birth of Christ, or is it like the NT in that we as Christians should live by its standards? Second, does the bible say that it is invalid if there is found within it even ONE mistake? If so could you please help me locate where? Thanks In Christ, COG |

52 | I am horrible at locating verses, HELP | 1 John | ChildofGod1988 | 204131
Hello all, I looked through the archives and was unable to find any good verse listings regarding the trinity, its nature, and such. I know that there are several instances in the bible where God speaks, for lack of a better way to put it, with Himself. The very triune nature of our Father amazes, and confuses me honestly. I would like some help with locating verses dealing with this. I cant thank you enough for your time. This forum has been an incredible blessing and bible study aid. God bless you all. Andrew |
