2921 | Romans 3:9-18 relate to sin | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 194327
Hello jmar, There is an abiding principle in scripture found in 2 Tim. 2:15- "Be diligent (or study) to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth." If I may ask: Have you read, re-read and pondered this verse in light of the question? Prayerfully? If not, please do:-) One of my mentors- a NT scholar- told me a few years back 'if only people would read and meditate on the scripture and think it through themselves'. It's still good advice. 2927 | What is the definition of Righteousness | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 195922
Hello Gracious, Hopefully I can be of some help in your research? Here are a few points to consider: 1. Pray for wisdom and insight from the Lord (Prov. 3:5-6); 2. Study all the scriptures that deal with "righteousness", word study, etc. You need to know -and understand- the topic so well that you can communicate it to anyone. This will only follow by a thorough understanding on your part. The proverb, "What you cannot say briefly, you do not know" holds true. Eccl 6:11- "For there are many words which increase futility. What then is the advantage to a man?" (NASB); 3. Then, I would consult and read what other learned men of God have to say on "God's Righteousness". Men like C.H. Spurgeon, Jonathan Edwards and D. Martin Lloyd-Jones, etc. can give invaluable insight to understand this key doctrine. Read, study and meditiate on what they say. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

2928 | negative self concept | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 195991

2929 | negative self concept | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 196056
Hi alfonsg, There are numerous directives in scripture that beseech a believer to be humble. I'll reference a few: Luke 18:13-14- "But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, the sinner!' "I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted." (NASB) Rom. 12:16- "Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation." (NASB) Eph. 4:1-2- "Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love," (NASB) Phil. 2:3- "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves" (NASB) ' While scripture doesn't specifically use the term "negative self-concept", it does refer to thinking correctly as such. In other words, what we say and think about ourselves can and does develop our "self-concept". I find these key verses in Proverbs- " you have been snared with the words of your mouth, Have been caught with the words of your mouth," (6:2) "Listen, for I will speak noble things; And the opening of my lips will reveal right things. "For my mouth will utter truth; And wickedness is an abomination to my lips." (8:6-7) "For as he thinks within himself, so he is."(23:7) "And my inmost being will rejoice When your lips speak what is right." (23:16) If I can summarize it his way: The Bible teaches that we are to be humble in our minds towards others while we are to have proper thinking from within. In other words, improper (unbiblical) thinking will lead to improper (negative) results. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

2935 | Was the Bible written by fortune tellers | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 196183
Hello tonyp, Here's my perspective: First, one would only need to read the Bible to determine that it is not written by "fortune tellers". This is self-evident. None of the author's claim to be fortune tellers. Has your friend even read it?; Second, turn the tables on him. Really, the burden of proof is on your friend to show otherwise! Can he demonstrate that his opinion has any merit? Has he done any serious study on the origins of the Word of God?; Third, can your friend provide specific "people" who've predicted the future? Have 100-percent of their predictions come true? Most of fortune telling has very little to do with knowing the future. Nostradamus has made many vague "predictions" that are hard to validate; Lastly, scripture itself gives the test of any prophet: Deut 18:20 'But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.' Deut 18:21 "You may say in your heart, 'How will we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?' Deut 18:22 "When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. Jesus Christ is the ultimate validity for scripture. His death, burial, and resurrection validate that the Bible is true and is indeed the word of God (1 Cor. 15) BradK |

2936 | explain spiritual warfare with shield | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 196318
Hello adderall, Let me just say, that it really isn't fair for me to do your Bible Study homework:-) Is it? Here's the questions I would ask: Where in the Bible does it speak about "seeds of generational curses"??? How does one define a generational curse biblically??? Is it truly biblical??? We all have a disease- and it's called sin. It's terminal (Rom. 6:23). Yet,"Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us--for it is written, "CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE"-- (Gal. 3:13 NASB) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
