2821 | Baptism-What Does the Bible Teach? | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 80253
Dear jervinj, I'd like to comment on a couple of points you raised, while at the same time avoiding a debate on this topic. What was the purpose of Christs' baptism? It surely was not for salvation,..."but to fulfill all righteouness." ( Matt. 3:15) As you state that,"Salvation can not be complete without water baptism", is this not then a work? What of the gospel clearly proclaimed by Paul in 1 Cor. 15:1-4 and the undeniable "by faith" passages in Eph. 2:8-9, and Titus 3:5? The context of John 3 does not, in my estimation warrant "water baptism": "Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus *said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." My understanding is that verse 6 is the clear response to vs. 3-5: 6“That which is born of the flesh(natural birth)is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit(Spiritual birth) is spirit." What do you think? Speaking The Truth In Love, BradK |

2823 | Why are there disagreements... | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 109727
EdB, In just jumping in on this thread, I think you've spoken well. Very well said. There is some "middle ground" on which to stand. I believe we'd agree that while 'ignorance is no virtue", one need not be a seminary graduate to minister and be used of God? I think this in keeping with 2 Tim. 2:15. 2824 | Creation and Science | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 116885
Draco04, I've not heard of "controlled creation" before. You might want to resource online the Institute for Creation research (ICR). Also, from my readings, Dr. Henry Morris is a very credible authority on the topic. You might try these as a starter. God Bless, BradK |

2825 | "That's just your interpretation."(?) | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 117015
kalos, Good Article! I've read it prior to your post- in fact used it as a handout in our class this past summer on- Biblical Interpretation. I would echo Dr. Wallace's point in regard to laziness. Many simply don't do due diligence in their study of scripture. Many further are ignorant of the basic principles(or that they even exist) and do not avail themselves of resources by great men whom God inspired likewise. We can learn much by standing on the shoulders of giants. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

This post is biblically based and whenever possible, I have included Bible references to support it. 2. 2827 | Should we not be Dispensational and why. | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 121982
annie.dunn, Well, you can check my profile if you'd like. I consider myself fairly dispensational. As a method of interpretation, I feel it does provide an overall logical and sound framework with which to understand the entire Bible. However, it has been my experience that not all agree with this method of interpretation. There are both moderate and extreme positions within Dispensationalism. I would consider myself moderate:-) Much of the debate centers around several areas: 1. The Body of Christ vs. Israel ( are they the same or do we differentiate?); 2. The beginning of the Church ( Early, Mid, or Late Acts); 3. Prophecy vs. Mystery ( what is intended for Israel and that which is intended for the Body of Christ); 4. The sacraments of Communion and water baptism. ( are they necessary and still to be practiced); 5. The "sign gifts" ( are they still valid or have they ceased?) This is just a summary of some of the issues that I'm familiar with. Obviously these can be met with opposition and not all will hold to, or embrace every aspect of dispensationalism. I believe much can be gained by following the guideline that "in essentials, agreement, in non-essentials, liberty". Speaking the Truth in Love, Brad |

2828 | Biblical Inconsistencies? | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 124220
violist, I can appreciate your wondering and the doubt created by this web-site. My simple advice would be to stay clear of these! Don't let outside (questionable) sources fill your mind with doubt:-) My next question would be: Who is Donald Morgan and what are his credentials? As a parallel, you might want to purchase and or read "Hard Sayings of the Bible". I hope this helps, BradK |

2830 | Are the heathen lost? | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 138927
Hi titanic13, I think the answer - in all seriousness- is found in 2 Tim. 2:15 :-) If you're writing a paper, I'd suggest 3 things: 1.Do a search for the topic under the "Quick Search" function to find previous discussions on the SBF; 2. You can search the internet if you don't have resources available to you- or ask a Pastor or your Professor/Teacher for some guideance; 3. Begin at Romans 1-3 If it were me, I'd really want to seek the answer to this on my own so that I could gain from the learning process:-) None of this is said to be harsh- so please don't take it as such, my friend. I hope this helps, BradK |

2831 | Are the heathen lost? | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 138940
Hi He-Man, I noticed that you responded to me and not titanic13. Also, as a general note: Your posts are hard to follow because you provide very little foundation in answering questions. For example, with this one: You don't answer his question. You just quote a definition of "Heathen" and then I assume paste from your Logos some Bible verses. I would try and give a brief explanation of "how" those verses are relevant, or how they apply to the question at hand. You may know "what" you intend, but to others like myself, its' not abundantly clear. It's a bit confusing, my friend:-) I'm sure I'm not the only one left wondering. schimc, You may want to try NETBible.org ( www.bible.org) or CARM.org online. I still think the book "New Evidence That Demands a Verdict" by Josh McDowell is an excellent resource. I hope this helps, BradK |

2833 | GRAVE ESCATHOLOGICAL MORTIFICATION | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 141659
jaclyn, The term is foreign to the Bible, so I have no idea what you are referring to:-( The 3 words strung together don't ring a bell. However, individually, they can be defined. Could you clarify where you heard or saw this term? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

2834 | Resources concerning Gospel of Thomas? | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 142516
Hi Colin, A recent resource that I've read MAY shed some light on your question. Though not specifically aimed at countering Elaine Pagels book, the work by Dr. Jim Garlow and Peter Jones, "Cracking the Da Vinci Code" may be of help. It is fairly succinct and an interesting read with several chapters dealing with these "Gnostic Gospels". I Hope this helps, BradK |

Hi 1way, Probably the best advice I can give to your question, is to point you in the right direction. You might want to go to www.netbible.org and under "Topics" click on Creation. Also, the Institute for Creation Research (ICR) may be found at www.icr.org. I hope this helps, BradK |

2836 | god helps those who help themselves | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 147615
Hi Ram658, Your questions is one that is frequently asked. I do not know the origins of this statement, but it is not found in scripture. It's one of those sayings that sound good and may even convey a shade of truth but are lacking in Biblical support. I hope this helps, BradK |

g'day Bruce, This will be my only response to you, mate. Your age really tells it all. You admit to not being a Christian, which is fine. However, I urge you to ask Jesus Christ into your heart, now. He loves you. This is a Study Bible Forum and it does have some guidelines. If you're really looking for answers and not just playin' games mate, you might want to read them. The Bible is revered as the Word of God- because it is. The language you use and the manner in which you convey yourself, tell me you're not serious! Don't expect to be taken seriously. i think datz a fair assesment, don't u? Gal. 2:20 BradK |

2839 | Wrath and judement different? Evidence! | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 150685
Hi ashter23, You might want to check a concordance and study the two words. As a help, Judgement can be found Matt. 25; Rom. 14:10, 11; 2 Cor. 5:10; 2 Thess. 1:7–10. Wrath can be viewed from Deut. 6:14,15, Rom. 1:18, Rev. 6:16,17 as a few examples. I hope this helps, BradK |

2840 | question | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 151227
Hi jtvd, You've asked several questions. While this Forum is ready, willing and able to answer and assist, might it be fair to inquire as to "why" you ask? Each individual may choose to respond as they see fit. However, as has been commented on by another -and I agree- I'm not keen on "doing someones' homework" for them:-) If that's not the case, ask away. But, if it is, you'd be better served by diligence on your part to seek the answers. I hope this helps, BradK |
