Hello Findrichard, I'm well aware of what JW's believe! I would have to strongly disagree with you as to "their core beliefs are Christian". No, they're not! By what convoluted measure or standard? For instance: They deny one HUGE essential, and that is the Diety of the Lord Jesus Christ! That, my friend is not Orthodox Christianity! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

465 | who was taken to heaven by God | Gen 5:24 | BradK | 224463
Hello jap519, Actually, there are two: Enoch and Elijah, both of whom were translated- not seeing death. Gen 5:24 "Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him". (NASB) 2 Kings 2:11 "As they were going along and talking, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire and horses of fire which separated the two of them. And Elijah went up by a whirlwind to heaven." (NASB) These are the only two that scripture indicates never saw death. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

468 | Greetings to all on this Lord's Holy Day | Is 58:13 | BradK | 224387
Dear findrichard, I'd have to 2nd the call by Beja, my friend. Col 2:16 states, "Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day--" (NASB) It is Christ the Lord we worship, not (on) a particular day! Mark 2:28 says, "So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath." Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

470 | Please interpret John 9:4? | John 9:4 | BradK | 224367
Hello dalle, Welcome to the Forum. In considering the meaning of this verse, keep in mind the purpose of John's Gospel, "...that believing, you may have life in his name" Back in John 5:36 we read, "But the testimony which I have is greater than the testimony of John; for the works which the Father has given Me to accomplish--the very works that I do--testify about Me, that the Father has sent Me." Then, in 6:28 and 29, we're told "Therefore they said to Him, "What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?" Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent." Of John 9:4, the Bible Knowledge Commentary notes: "Day means the time allotted for Jesus to do God’s will (to do the work of Him who sent Me). We includes the disciples and by extension all believers. Night is the limit set to do God’s works. In Jesus’ case it was His coming death. As the Light of the world Jesus gives people salvation (cf. 8:12). After His death, His disciples would be His lights (cf. Matt. 5:14; Eph. 5:8-14), bringing Christ to others." I hope this helps, BradK |

473 | should i kill houshold pest | Gen 1:28 | BradK | 224169
Hello mamametal, I'm understanding your dilemma better. However- and I don't mean this in a meanspirited way- there is a point where we need to excercise common sense! Remember, the purpose of the Bible is not to address any and all situations we come across in everyday life! For instance, God doesn't tell us what type of car to drive or where to live, etc. It's also not a manual about pest-control! And... it's not supposed to be! Fortunately, God gave us a mind and the ability to think and reason! Ask yourself, 'what would a normally-prudent person do in such a situation'? Personally, I'd call my local pest control company and let them deal with it:-) I hope this makes sense and helps. BradK |

475 | Esther 2:12 | Esth 2:12 | BradK | 224139
Hello breaddown, Esther 2:12 reads, "Now when the turn of each young lady came to go in to King Ahasuerus, after the end of her twelve months under the regulations for the women--for the days of their beautification were completed as follows: six months with oil of myrrh and six months with spices and the cosmetics for women--"(NASB) According to the Bible Knowledge Commentary, "Esther was not in a beauty contest simply to win the king’s affections; the women were being prepared to have sexual relations with the king. This is suggested by the words (Vs. 14) in the evening she would go there and in the morning return." I think vs. 10 answers the second part of your question, "Esther did not make known her people or her kindred, for Mordecai had instructed her that she should not make them known." (NASB) I hope this helps, BradK |

480 | is it a sin to have sex on your period | 1 Cor 7:3 | BradK | 224016
Hello Beja, Here's how I would reply. I think the overriding emphasis (and weight) be given to Pauls' NT expounding on principles of married life in 1 Cor. 7. He's addressing the church of God, those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints. He devotes on entire chapter to the issues of marriage! Particular are the boundaries given in vs. 3 and 4 about sexual relations between husband and wife. There are no qualifications given except that in the following: verse 5, "Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time..." So, I would take this to be an issue left between the husband and his wife. I would not give Lev. 18:23 the same emphasis for my previously stated reasons:-) I hope this clarifies my point.
