I think your friend misunderstands the whole concept of God and His Whole World. I can only suggest her re-reading of His Majestic Handiwork, culminating in the Creation of Mankind, including both men and women, Genesis 1 and 2. I'm thinking all this stuff about Evolution and Theistic Evolution is whittling away at the Faith of many of our fellow christians. There are many, many websites I might suggest to you. Just insert key words like Evidences of Christianity and Creationism into your Search Engine and you'll find them. Brouse around and find several articles you like, print them for her. With most of these websites, you can even submit your inquiries and get specific answers and referrals to articles addressing your concerns. On the subject of Authority, I would start out by referring your friend to the last section of Romans, Chapter 1. There Paul does a masterful job of warning the people in Rome of what God would do as a result of their wickedness and reminds them of just Who God is and His Authority. It sounds like Mr. Haggin doesn't have a clue as to what he's talking about. Another person had a serious problem with the Authority of God. His name was Pharaoh and we all know how he turned out, starting at Exodus 5. We'll be praying for both you and your friend. Go with God in all His Ways. Bill |

In addition to Steve's good answer, I can think of a couple more verses, such as... Acts 5:40 And they agreed with him, and when they had called for the apostles and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. 41 So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. 42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ. James 5:13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Rom 8:16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Cor 13:4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 2 Cor 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. 6 Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. 7 And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation. There are others but the bottom line is our suffering on this earth is but a "blink of the eye" compared to our Destination, our Home in Heaven. We must keep our focus on our Lord as Peter discovered while walking on water... Matt 14:28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” Also James assures us of the brevity of our sojourn here on earth in... James 4:14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. So just keep on keeping on and God will Bless you; Go with God in all His Ways. Bill |

25 | What does the bible say what happens to | Bible general Archive 4 | Bill Richardson | 231207
Brad's Post is good solid Guidance but I like to remember Jesus' story in... John 8:2 Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them. 3 Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, 4 they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?” 6 This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear. 7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” 8 And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” 11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.” Now of course adultrey is sin and worthy of condemnation but don't you see, we're ALL in that same trap. We've ALL sinned and we continue to sin every day of our lives and none of us can measure up to God's Perfect Standard set by His Son. We must rely on His Grace and Mercy and share the Good News with our friends and neighbors. We as human creatures see the many different sins in this world at different levels of "dastardly deeds" with some worse than others and of course that's normal. But we need to grow and mature and see things as God sees them and become repugnent to the sins in our own lives. God sees ALL sins as being alike; they all keep us separated from Him. James 4:7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. Instead of dwelling on the sins of each other, let's dwell on the good stuff we have Christ Jesus like Paul encourages us in... Phil4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. Hope this helps; Go with God in all His Ways, Bill |

27 | Is drinking and smoking pot allowed | Rom 14:23 | Bill Richardson | 231205
This thread of discussions has two main points as I understand it. 1) The first one is that all of us want to go to Heaven and therefore we should avoid those activities that are clearly considered sins. In those situations that are questionable, it's always better to go with one's conscience and NOT do anything IF you have doubts about it. After all we do want to assure ourselves of going to Heaven, right? True enough it's drunkeness that's condemned in the Bible and not drinking. BUT if your family finds out that you're now a drinker, they will most likely try to get you to drink more and more and the alcohol will control you instead of your God. Just some advice; I've seen what one drink can do to an individual and his family. That's why I decided some years ago to be a "tee-totaler." No, it's not required, it's a judgement call everyone has to make in their lives as they mature in their walk with God. 2) Now on the matter of marriage, I have to say it's always best to come to the Lord and get His Blessing on our marriage. The best way to do that is after confirming both spouses to be are going to be an asset to the other in getting both to Heaven. If you're both looking up to God for His Guidance in "ALL things pertaining to Godliness," 2 Pet 1:3-4, then you'll have less time for arguing and what not. So Justme makes a good point. Such a couple should get to know one another and confirm that their spouse truly is a person dedicated to God and foremost and to the spouse second. (A true man of God should be a real friend, interested in confirming this before marriying such a couple.) Then all the other priorities will fall into place. It's difficult to come up with scripture in direct support other than those above. But I'm convinced this advice is quite sound as I'm enjoying my first and only marriage after 30 plus years. Maybe this passage... 2 Cor 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. We've had our stuggles as we're both head-strong and stubborn but I'm convinced she's the perfect one sent to me by God Himself as she does assist in keeping on the "straight and narrow." I can only wish God's Richest Blessings in your life and I'd recommend if you're going to drink, do it in moderation WITH your spouse and NOT your buddies. Why? That's part of how christians behave. After all, we are God's people as cited by Peter in... 1 Pet 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; Believe me, people of the world are watching us, you and me and all other christians to see if we're the real thing "set-apart" for our God. Hope this helps; Go with God in all His Ways, Bill |

28 | why you shouldn't go to casinos | Rom 14:23 | Bill Richardson | 231204
I'm thinking the big issue with this area is whether or not gambling or going to casinos gets in between you and your God as a christian. My wife and I go a casino occasionally and I just consider whatever small amount of money I win or lose in such a place to be entertainment. I have witnessed some of my friends who would go and drop their entire paycheck which would mean their family went without food and left some bills unpaid. So the scripture below comes to mind... 1 Tim 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. Mark's citation of the verse above at the top of this post is right on target. That basic principle must be applied to everything we do as christians. Another verse that applies... Col 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. I realize these verses seem to cover a lot of ground in a wide specturm of application. But you see, that's what our Lord Wants. He Wants our whole hearts, our whole being to be dedicated to him. He said it best in... Mark 12:30 And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. So it all boils down, to who you're going to choose: Going to casinos or your Lord and Saviour. Is it really that serious? IF this casino is in between you and your God, it's just another form of idol and you know how He Feels about that. We'll be praying for you and hoping for the best. Hope this helps; Go with God in all His Ways, Bill |

29 | Are clean jokes still considered lies? | Rom 14:23 | Bill Richardson | 231203
Someone has deleted my post with which I input quite a bit of information and Guidance based on the scripture above. (I even reflected my own personal battle with this challenging topic.) But I notice that no one is posting any replacement message to this individual in his plight. Are you all NOT going to do the right thing? Are you all NOT going to offer some sound advice in replacement of my attempt? He's waiting as am I but of course his need is far greater than mine. I'm kinda curious as yo how y'all are going to interpret this scripture and apply the basic to this topic. Anxiously awaiting your response(s); Go with God in all His Ways. Bill |

30 | make up of the Syrian Antioch Church | Bible general Archive 4 | Bill Richardson | 231202
No one has offended me. I just don't understand this obsession about my background. I can't get anyone to explain why my posts to the Forum are being deleted. I have been very diligent to make certain they're all Biblically based, tactful and gracious in demeanor. I've already tried contacting the Lockman Foundation directly and they won't reply to my message. Do you know who has all the power to whom I can discuss all this and plead my case? I'd like to know what is actually wrong with my posts so I can learn and avoid making those same mistakes. I have noticed there are many individuals on the Forum who don't reveal much information about themselves in their User Profile so I'm not the only one. Again I really, REALLY don't understand this obsession about MY background. It seems to be a form of passive-agressive persecution. But I can take it and count myself worth like the Apostles if that is my role in this ministry. I saw the recent posts about the acceptance of denominations "as long as they're based on Bible" and of course mine are, at least as far as I can make them. Can you please assist me in this area? I'm willing to continue this conversation in private, with E-Mails if that's what you'd prefer. Please let me know. I really appreciate your effort to reach out. I sincerely hope you're trying to help me. Go with God in all His Ways. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Bill |

40 | When is forgiveness not necessary? | Bible general Archive 4 | Bill Richardson | 231182
In support of Doc's answer, God is very clear on this matter. IF we hope to get forgiveness for our sins, we MUST be just as willing to forgive others. Jesus relayed this kind of sentiment in several places like His Model Prayer... Lk 11:4 And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.” His Parable of the debtor in prison... Matt 18:21 Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. 23 Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made. 26 The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ 27 Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. 28 “But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’ 29 So his fellow servant fell down at his feet[d] and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ 30 And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. 31 So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done. 32 Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. 33 Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’ 34 And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. 35 “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.” Yes, this was a completely new teaching from that of the Law of Moses, with "eye for an eye and tooth for tooth." We are even expected to forgive our enemies. Yeah, I agree tough to do, especailly in our modern world. So in answer to your question, I'm afraid if you truly want to go to Heaven, it's very clear as to what we all must do. Hope this helps; Go with God in all His Ways, Bill |
