362 | Where - "cities without walls" prophecy? | Zech 2:4 | BMyers | 201636
This is the closest thing I have come up with so far, but this was just a quick search on city without walls. ZEC 2:4 and said to him, “Run, speak to that young man, saying, ‘ Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls because of the multitude of men and cattle within it. In Revelations it talks about the New Jerusalem and the angel measuring it in Chapter 21, but that is not the Old Testament (I'm always stating the obvious). Brad |

I just find it kind of funny how we all have to get our forum 'fix' for the day before we run out the door for work. Yet what great way to start the day with reading some thought provoking question that gets your mind contemplating God's Word. Brad |

364 | Jesus? | Zech 13:7 | BMyers | 223254
If you read Matthew 26:31 and 32, you can answer the first part of your question. Mat 26:31 Then Jesus said to them, "You will all fall away because of me this night. For it is written, 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.' Mat 26:32 But after I am raised up, I will go before you to Galilee." (ESV) As far the second part, I will have to give it some thought before I try to answer that part. Brad |

366 | Look or see others in heaven | Matthew | BMyers | 209529
(Mat 22:23 ESV) The same day Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no resurrection, and they asked him a question, (Mat 22:24 ESV) saying, "Teacher, Moses said, 'If a man dies having no children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up children for his brother.' (Mat 22:25 ESV) Now there were seven brothers among us. The first married and died, and having no children left his wife to his brother. (Mat 22:26 ESV) So too the second and third, down to the seventh. (Mat 22:27 ESV) After them all, the woman died. (Mat 22:28 ESV) In the resurrection, therefore, of the seven, whose wife will she be? For they all had her." (Mat 22:29 ESV) But Jesus answered them, "You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God. (Mat 22:30 ESV) For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. |

367 | What does lamp and oil symbolize? | Matthew | BMyers | 223235
They symbolize, lamp and oil. The point isn't about the lamp and oil, but about the virgins being prepared for the bridegroom. Matthew 25:13 hit the main point, be prepared because we never know when the Lord will return. Brad |
||||||
368 | What does lamp and oil symbolize? | Matthew | BMyers | 223239
Not trying to create a debate, but "virgin oil" is just that, oil that has not been refined. According to the product grade description, "refined olive oil is the olive oil obtained from virgin olive oils by refining methods that do not lead to alterations in the initial glyceridic structure". With that being said, sometimes we look for deeper meaning and miss the actual meaning which is staring us in the face. Brad |

369 | What does lamp and oil symbolize? | Matthew | BMyers | 223242
I agree, there are symbols in the Bible and some are of importance. My hesitation comes from my own experience with dealing with the topic where individuals have gotten so caught up with trying to figure out the meaning of the symbol, the message gets lost. Brad |

370 | Money changers in Temple | Matthew | BMyers | 223632
My limited understanding, the original purpose of the money changers was to allow travels who had come from other areas to purchase the required sacrifices that they had been unable or unwilling to bring with them. Since some came from other a far, this required them to change their money for the temple money so they could buy the sacrifices. Brad |

371 | consequences for not forgiving | Matthew | BMyers | 234046
The Gospel of Matthew has an interesting parable about that topic. I would check chapter 18 or so and see if the start of the answer lies there. Brad |

373 | what does inner room mean | Matt 6:6 | BMyers | 232236
Just what it states, a room on the inside (inner room). If you read the passage 5-8, the manner an attitude in which you pray is being dealt with. Some prayed for public recognition, but verse 6 explains that we shouldn't do for this, but instead get away with just you and God. Does this mean all public prayer is wrong? No, but the heart behind the prayer determines the validate of it. Brad |

376 | profaning the name of the Lord | Matt 12:36 | BMyers | 200405
I think both of the scriptures you have listed are sufficient evidence that one needs to be careful with their tongue. Although, I would say that quoting this coworker scripture will most likely not have the desired effect. I would be more concerned with the condition of your coworker's soul than their current action. If your coworker is proclaiming to be a Christian, then quoting those scripture would be the way of showing them the error of their thinking. Yet, if your coworker is not saved, then quoting scripture will most likely do very little to change their thoughts on this matter. The important step is to intercede on their behalf on your knees. Trying to change a person on our own will most likely fail, but the Holy Spirit can change the person from the inside out. As Christians, we encounter many things that are offensive. Should we take them lying down? No, but we need to make sure that we are approaching them in the love that Christ has shown us. It sounds that you could have a real opportunity to show the love of Christ to this person and hopefully through your light shining, your coworker can come into the light of Christ. |

380 | NASB leaves out baptism from Koine Greek | Matt 20:22 | BMyers | 221685
If my understanding is correct, Koine Greek refers to the language (basically common Greek). The phrase you are referring to is found in some manuscripts, but not every manuscript has this phrase included in it. Based on the translators desicions on which manuscripts are the most reliable, the phrase is not included. Most modern translations do not include this phrase which is found in the KJV, the NKJV includes the phrase with a footnote saying it is not included in the NU text. Brad |
