261 | Items of identity? | Gen 38:18 | BMyers | 220787
All three could be used to signify a person's authority. The seal was made by signet ring or cylinder with the owner's marking. These items were carried on a cord around ones neck or worn as a ring. The staff could be simply for walking or protection, but it could also designate ones position of authority. Brad |

262 | Zebulun's territory | Gen 49:13 | BMyers | 219383
Notes from the ESV Study Bible: "Yet major trading routes from the coast, which lay about 10 miles (16 km) to the west, ran through the tribal region of Zebulun, providing an outlet to the sea, and involvement by Zebulunites in the coastal commerce of exporting and importing—and thus living in Sidon by the sea—may be the substantive fulfillment of Jacob's poetic words. Furthermore, if the name “Sidon” (one of Phoenicia's leading cities) is used here as a collective term to refer to Phoenicia in general, then the statement that his border shall be at Sidon is quite apt." |

264 | Who was Moses' father? | Exodus | BMyers | 202721
mrsnicolelane, Thanks for correcting my mistake. I will have to be more careful with my posting. EX 6:14 These are the heads of their fathers’ households. The sons of Reuben, Israel’s firstborn: Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi; these are the families of Reuben. EX 6:15 The sons of Simeon: Jemuel and Jamin and Ohad and Jachin and Zohar and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman; these are the families of Simeon. EX 6:16 These are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations: Gershon and Kohath and Merari; and the length of Levi’s life was one hundred and thirty-seven years. EX 6:17 The sons of Gershon: Libni and Shimei, according to their families. EX 6:18 The sons of Kohath: Amram and Izhar and Hebron and Uzziel; and the length of Kohath’s life was one hundred and thirty-three years. EX 6:19 The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to their generations. EX 6:20 Amram married his father’s sister Jochebed, and she bore him Aaron and Moses; and the length of Amram’s life was one hundred and thirty-seven years. EX 6:21 The sons of Izhar: Korah and Nepheg and Zichri. EX 6:22 The sons of Uzziel: Mishael and Elzaphan and Sithri. EX 6:23 Aaron married Elisheba, the daughter of Amminadab, the sister of Nahshon, and she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. EX 6:24 The sons of Korah: Assir and Elkanah and Abiasaph; these are the families of the Korahites. EX 6:25 Aaron’s son Eleazar married one of the daughters of Putiel, and she bore him Phinehas. These are the heads of the fathers’ households of the Levites according to their families. EX 6:26 It was the same Aaron and Moses to whom the LORD said, “ Bring out the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their hosts.” EX 6:27 They were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt about bringing out the sons of Israel from Egypt; it was the same Moses and Aaron. 267 | WHO WAS MOSES' FATHER | Ex 2:1 | BMyers | 201044
Ex 2:1 Now a man of the house of Levi married a Levite woman, Ex 2:2 and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. When she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him for three months. Ex 2:3 But when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket for him and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she placed the child in it and put it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile. |

268 | WHO WAS MOSES THE SON OF? | Ex 2:1 | BMyers | 201046
To the best of my knowledge, neither parents name is ever mentioned. |

272 | When did Moses send his wife to Miidan? | Ex 4:25 | BMyers | 210827
Welcome to the forum, there is an interesting discussion going on right now about the topic, it is ID#210761 or just search Zipporah.
273 | When did Moses send his wife to Miidan? | Ex 4:25 | BMyers | 210829
Sorry, I see you already found the discussion. If you look at post 210803 by Nolan (Makarios), he has a list of the scriptures. Based on the scriptures, we can make a guess when Moses sent here back (after Exodus 4:25), but the scripture doesn't say when he did. |

275 | Ex 12:29 | Ex 12:23 | BMyers | 233926
And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD. (Job 1:12 ESV) Satan is the one who tested Job. God allowed it. Job's friends were sure he had sinned and that is why, but they were proven wrong (Job 42:7-9). You do understand that the OT people viewed anything bad coming from God as punishement for their sin, which Job shows this not to be true. Brad |

276 | Ex 12:29 | Ex 12:23 | BMyers | 233937
No Herman, I disagree with you and the book of Job being a parable, please explain why you think it is a parable? So Herman, are you saying that Jesus did not cast demons out? The disciples did not cast out demons? Are you saying the Scriptures are not true? I went to the link you provided and it sent me to various links to different libraries, so what article or reference material are you referring to? Are all the following passages false then? Matthew 9:32-33; 12:22; 17:18; Mark 5:1-20; 7:26-30; Luke 4:33-36; Luke 22:3; Acts 16:16-18. I guess you have not read some of the same articles and books that I have which state that demon possession and being demonized is still alive today. Herman, do you believe the Bible? Brad |

277 | Exo 12:29 | Ex 12:23 | BMyers | 233946
Herman are you talking about Isaac Newton? "Newton was not an orthodox theologian. It has long been known that he denied the doctrine of the Trinity, that central pillar of orthodox Christendom" (On which, see Frank E. Manuel, The religion of Isaac Newton (Oxford: Clarendon, 1974), 57-63; Richard S. Westfall, Never at rest: a biography of Isaac Newton (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1980), 310-20 Brad PS-Yes, I do believe the Bible, no I don't believe Job is a parable. |

278 | Beasts and not females? | Ex 13:2 | BMyers | 212180
I don't believe females were included. Exo 13:11 "When the LORD brings you into the land of the Canaanites, as he swore to you and your fathers, and shall give it to you, Exo 13:12 you shall set apart to the LORD all that first opens the womb. All the firstborn of your animals that are males shall be the LORD's. Exo 13:13 Every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb, or if you will not redeem it you shall break its neck. Every firstborn of man among your sons you shall redeem. Exo 13:14 And when in time to come your son asks you, 'What does this mean?' you shall say to him, 'By a strong hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery. Exo 13:15 For when Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the LORD killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man and the firstborn of animals. Therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all the males that first open the womb, but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.' Brad |

279 | Beasts and not females? | Ex 13:2 | BMyers | 212181
Should put this in my other post, 'beast' is Strong's #929 which is 'behemah' is my limited understand is correct, it can mean animal, domesticated animal, cattle, riding beast, or wild, just depending on how it is used. My assumption would be in this context it is referring to domesticated animals. Maybe someone with a Hebrew training or background could expand a little farther on this. Brad |

280 | Is it a sin to kill mice? | Ex 20:13 | BMyers | 223630
Exo 20:13 "You shall not murder. Which scripture are you referring to about killing? I kill every mouse that I can with traps or poison, don't want them in my house or my office at work. Brad |
