221 | how many times did they wrap jesus body | NT general | BMyers | 221757
Joh 19:38 After these things Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took away his body. Joh 19:39 Nicodemus also, who earlier had come to Jesus by night, came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds in weight. Joh 19:40 So they took the body of Jesus and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews. Joh 19:41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. Mar 15:46 And Joseph bought a linen shroud, and taking him down, wrapped him in the linen shroud and laid him in a tomb that had been cut out of the rock. And he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb. Mat 27:59 And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud The Bible doesn't say. Brad |

222 | Are these two different events? | NT general | BMyers | 221879
I would say that there is not an error in translation. You have the same event being recorded by two different authors with each putting in what he feels of value and according to his own writing style. To give you a quick example, when the police are interviewing people and their statements are 100 percent the same, it brings into question if the individuals being interviewed have been collaborating on their statements. So, I wouldn't expect the Gospels to be 100 percent the same (because they are written by different individuals), yet the important details to match (the same when interviewing someone). Hope this helps, Brad |

223 | what was mark's occupation? | NT general | BMyers | 222511
Bible doesn't say. Tradition has it that Mark was a friend of Peter who served as an interpreter, scribe, and disciple of Peter's. Brad |

224 | does this mean a person is unforgiven | NT general | BMyers | 222649
Doc was giving you a 'pat on the back'. Actually, communicating with Doc and reading his post has challenged me to get a better understanding of some of the terms that are important to the Christian faith. You have my respect with your ability to be able to converse in more than one language. Yet, I would challenge you to look at the conversations with Doc not as struggle, but another opportunity to increase your knowledge of Bible and the English language. Based on my past experience with Doc, if there is something I haven't comprehended, he has always been willing to explain and help me understand. Brad |

225 | According to the bible who can baptize | NT general | BMyers | 222682
If we look at Matthew 28:16-20 and John 4:1-2, we can see that this responsibilty fell on the disciples of Christ. Brad |

226 | According to the bible who can baptize | NT general | BMyers | 222684
Well my wireless keyboard batteries went dead and in the process, my last post is missing half of what I was trying to copy and paste (have to use Word to check more poor spelling). Anyone since that information is no gone, I will make my answer shorter. Christians can baptized other Christians based on being a disciple of Christ. Generally, this task falls to the minister of the church based on tradition. Yet, not all denominations recognize baptism done by a layperson nor do all denominations recognize each other’s baptism. Sometimes we get caught up more with the tradition and how it is done than the meaning of why it is done. Brad |

228 | what should the disciples have understoo | NT general | BMyers | 222749
Every now and then, we get questions on this forum that appear to be homework assignments. The usual response to such question is that the poster needs to do his or her own homework. So, I would encourage you to search the Bible and your textbooks for the answer to this question. You will be the richer for it. 2 Timothy 2:15 Brad (borrowed this answer from Brother Tim) |

Yes, the name Stephen appears in the New Testament in several Scriptures. On the right hand side you can type in text and have a complete search of the Bible for a word or a passage. Brad |

230 | pray before each meal | NT general | BMyers | 226726
There is no Bible verse that says we have to prayer before we eat and some even prayer after they eat. If memory serves me correctly, the practice or pattern of praying before we eat comes from Jesus and I think Paul. Jesus prayed before he feed the crowds. Paul prayed in Acts 27 before they ate. More important is the attitude and remembering to be thankful for our blessing and that these blessings are from God. Eph 5:20 Phil 4:6 1 Thess 5:18 Brad |

234 | What was the first animal out of the ark | Genesis | BMyers | 201713
You can read about Noah and the ark in Genesis chapter 6-9. Genesis chapter 7 discuss the loading of the ark, but does not say which animal was first. Brad |

238 | Can you be pro-life but not do anything? | Genesis | BMyers | 220762
There is more than one way of being active in an issue. Just because one doesn't go to the local protest, doesn't mean by default they are inactive with the pro-life movement. A few churches in our area has taken the stance to support the local pregnancy center to provide help for unwed mothers instead of taking the protest route. Beyond the above, how you vote and contacting congressional members are important methods of making change along with giving those in need another option when they feel trapped. Saying that Protestants aren't active in the pro-life issues because they don't protest the way that you feel is the correct way of dealing with the issue, isn't a very fair assessment of Protestants as a whole. I know several members in my own church who are very active in the pro-life issue and they have never attended a protest (to my knowledge), but they have helped unwed mothers and given them another option besides abortion. 240 | what took place between noah and God | Genesis | BMyers | 222072
That makes a little more sense. I was confused by the post and the response. Although, I think reading Genesis 8 should give the poster a fairly good idea what occurred, I like seeing the rainbows. Brad |
