481 | Garment in the Tomb! | John 20:5 | BMyers | 201042
I'm not sure which verse you are referring to? I read in JN 20:5 and stooping and looking in, he saw the linen wrappings lying there; but he did not go in. These wrappings were the burial cloth used on Jesus. |

483 | What does "Edens Dawn Light Mean?" | Heb 2:9 | BMyers | 200922
The Salvation Pioneer God didn't put angels in charge of this business of salvation that we're dealing with here. It says in Scripture, What is man and woman that you bother with them; why take a second look their way? You made them not quite as high as angels, bright with Eden's dawn light; Then you put them in charge of your entire handcrafted world. When God put them in charge of everything, nothing was excluded. But we don't see it yet, don't see everything under human jurisdiction. What we do see is Jesus, made "not quite as high as angels," and then, through the experience of death, crowned so much higher than any angel, with a glory "bright with Eden's dawn light." In that death, by God's grace, he fully experienced death in every person's place. From the Message |

486 | profaning the name of the Lord | Matt 12:36 | BMyers | 200405
I think both of the scriptures you have listed are sufficient evidence that one needs to be careful with their tongue. Although, I would say that quoting this coworker scripture will most likely not have the desired effect. I would be more concerned with the condition of your coworker's soul than their current action. If your coworker is proclaiming to be a Christian, then quoting those scripture would be the way of showing them the error of their thinking. Yet, if your coworker is not saved, then quoting scripture will most likely do very little to change their thoughts on this matter. The important step is to intercede on their behalf on your knees. Trying to change a person on our own will most likely fail, but the Holy Spirit can change the person from the inside out. As Christians, we encounter many things that are offensive. Should we take them lying down? No, but we need to make sure that we are approaching them in the love that Christ has shown us. It sounds that you could have a real opportunity to show the love of Christ to this person and hopefully through your light shining, your coworker can come into the light of Christ. |

487 | helping my family financially? | Prov 13:18 | BMyers | 200314
Dealing with family and financial issues can be very difficult. You definitely need to get some counseling locally from a Godly pastor or member of your church. Does the Bible give us guidance? Yes, we are to help those in need, but we are also cautioned about contributing to the foolishness and failing to be good stewards of what God has blessed us with. My wife and I have struggled with financial issues and dealing with her family for years. It is a challenge and requires a lot of prayer. You don't want to close any doors that God is opening for you to minister through, yet you don't want to foolishly throw away His money. It is hard to tell a family member no, that you can't or won't help them financially. We have spoken with our pastor and a couple of Godly people in our church. We even made arrangements to get our family members financial counseling and help them get into a program that would teach them, train them, and get them out of debt. Yet after spending all the time and effort, in our situation, the family members just wanted the money. We had done everything we could short of paying the debt for them. My wife and I talked a lot about this because it hurt her deeply. This situation can be compared to what Christ has done for us. Christ made all the preparations and has everything in place, yet you have to be willing to help yourself, Christ isn't going to force you, He stands at the door waiting for you. Better stop here before I type an essay on financial matters. Brad REV 3:20 ‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. |

488 | dont buy dogs | Bible general Archive 4 | BMyers | 200008

489 | Fallen angels? | Gen 6:4 | BMyers | 199906
My limited understanding of the verses you are referring to (Genesis 6:1-4) is that there are two accepted interpretations to these verses. The first, is that 'the sons of God' refers to fallen angels. Most will use Job 1:6 and 2:1 to help support this argument. Also, Jude 6,7 is used to give further proof. The other view is that 'the sons of God' were descendants of Seth and they married daughters of Cain. Matthew 22:30 is given as proof for this argument. To be honest with you, I haven't study it enough to really make my own decision on which I feel is correct. I just know enough that there are predominately to different view points on this passage of scriptures. Hope that helps some. Maybe someone that has study the topic more can give more insight. Brad |

491 | Who or what was sacrificed? | Judg 11:39 | BMyers | 199869
Just because I joke about my grandma's faithfulness to the KJV (my dad's also) doesn't mean I don't appreciate the years of passionate study and their love and hunger for God's Word. I make fun of the translation issues more so because I feel most get blown out of proportion. God has used the KJV to wonderfully speak to generations of people and I would never try to get my grandma to switch. I hope someday that I'm as versed in the Word as she is. On the other side, I know that the good Lord has used and is using modern translations like the NIV and the NASB to speak to multitudes in a language that doesn't appear so archaic to them. If I thought that reading one version vs another would truly make a person a better Christian, I would do everything in my power to promote that version. Yet, I have realized that it isn't the version that makes you a Christian. It isn't the version that gives you the passion for God's Word. It is God's grace and Holy Spirit that drives and fills the hunger for more of the Word. After years working as a paramedic, I've come to realize how short this brief life on this earth can be. I've seen many people taken from this world before what we would consider their time. I've seen family's weep; I've seen family's being comforted by the knowledge of knowing where their love one has gone. Through all this I have come to two realizations. The first, you must always be prepared for your call to Glory. Secondly, life is too short to be worried about things that are not of eternal value. Worry about the things of eternal value and have fun with the rest! Brad |

495 | Being a dictator ? | Jer 5:31 | BMyers | 199566
Hey Doc, I agree, without checks in place, a pastor, board, or congregation could easily run astray. It is hard for me to speak outside of my own church, because my first hand knowledge of other churches is limited. I have attended the same church for almost 38 years. Good checks and balances need to be in place. Yet I attempt to error on the side of caution when it comes to challenging the leadership of the church. Not because I'm afraid, but because these people, pastor included, have accepted the responsibility for the position. At the same time, I'm constantly comparing their actions to the Bible to make sure they are following Biblical standards. I have seen my own church struggle over what I would term "silly" things (yes I know they were important to the people involved, but in the grand scheme of things, they truly had no eternal value and did nothing to build up the kingdom of God). This is why I always tell anyone to pray and then prayer some more before dealing with a conflict. I'm one of these head strong people that will fight you tooth-n-nail just to prove that I'm right. I've had to pray a LOT to ask the Lord to work on softening that extreme. There are times and situations that call for immediate and direct action, but most call for pray and allowing the Holy Spirit to work first before I open my big mouth. Well time to head off to work. God Bless, Brad |

496 | Being a dictator ? | Jer 5:31 | BMyers | 199546
It depends on what authority he is taking and what he is doing. In our church, we have a church constitution and by-laws that describes exactly what authority the pastor has and what the deacon board has and what the church member has, all these involve checks and balances. The pastor is the head of the church and such has the responsibility to oversee all areas of the church. I don't know the details of your church situation, but I caution you first and foremost to approach any potential conflict with lots of prayer. Satan uses division in churches, no matter how large or small to destroy churches. If you pastor has done something sinful, (for example had an affair) then your church should have rules and regulations set in place to deal with such a thing. If the matter is over a disagreement (for example the color of the church carpeting) I refer back to my earlier statement, use caution. Satan comes to devour and destroy. Satan feeds off division, especially in churches. I don't know the heart of your pastor, but speaking of my own pastor, he consults with the different committees and boards, but the ultimate responsibility for the spiritual health of the church falls on him (I hate to word it that away, because each member takes responsibility for the church also, but this could really become a long reply). Please pray and then pray some more. Brad |

498 | Dissapointment in this sites response... | Ps 16:11 | BMyers | 199539
Actually, Hank did give you an answer and was just trying to point out the valuable resources this forum offers. Many people, myself included, have overlooked the simple use of the search feature on the forum to discover topics of interest that have been discussed in depth. Another feature of the website (or a concordance) is the ability to enter a word and have it search the entire Bible for you. This is a handy feature when you are looking for a particular word and not just a concept. You stated that you wanted a verse that clearly states oral sex is wrong, if you do a search of the word oral, you will not find it in the NASB, NIV, or KJV. Does this mean it is okay to have oral sex? Nope. It means you need to change your search approach from word to topic. Topical Bibles/Concordances come in very handy when trying to research concepts vs actual words. Did I answer your question? No, I think the other two post have answered the question just fine. My purpose is trying to teach you 'how to fish' vs 'giving you a fish'. |

Besides the KJV, is there any other version that translates pascha as Easter instead of Passover? I've looked at the NIV, NLT, NKJV, NASB, AMPLIFIED, and the NIrV which all translate it as Passover. |
