362 | Married womens last name | Bible general Archive 4 | BMyers | 209112
I don't know of a verse that says anything about taking the last name. I think that is based more on custom. The only verse that comes to mind is Gen 2:24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. you might be able to make a stretch that keeping the name is not leaving her parents. I think that would be a long stretch and I don't think it would be Biblically correct. |

I think you are looking for Bible verses against homosexuality. 1Co 6:9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, Lev 18:22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. Rom 1:26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; Rom 1:27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. |

365 | once saved always saved? | John 10:28 | BMyers | 208697
It is interesting to read the age old debate between Calvinism and Arminianism. Many scholars more knowledgable than I have debated and as we know the battle lines have been drawn. I know where I stand, which is more towards the Arminianism side than the Calvinism, yet I can find plenty of common ground that I can word shoulder to shoulder with Calvinistic brothers (and sisters) to still try to accomplish the work of Christ.

(2Ti 2:15 ESV) Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. (Pro 2:10 ESV) for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; (Pro 8:10 ESV) Take my instruction instead of silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold, (Col 3:20 ESV) Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. (Pro 1:22 ESV) "How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge? |

367 | Can someone explain these verses to me? | Heb 4:15 | BMyers | 207785
(Heb 4:15 ESV) For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. (Heb 4:16 ESV) Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Jesus has been tempted in all the same ways we will or could be, so He knows what we are going through, yet He stood strong and can approach Him with the knowledge that He knows and understands. |

369 | Explain Morning Star in Rev. 28 | Rev 2:28 | BMyers | 206122
This is from MHC: III. We now come to the conclusion of this message, Rev. 2:26-29. Here we have, 1. The promise of an ample reward to the persevering victorious believer, in two parts:—(1.) Very great power and dominion over the rest of the world: Power over the nations, which may refer either to the time when the empire should turn Christian, and the world be under the government of the Christian emperor, as in Constantine’s time; or to the other world, when believers shall sit down with Christ on his throne of judgment, and join with him in trying, and condemning, and consigning over to punishment the enemies of Christ and the church. The upright shall have dominion in the morning. (2.) Knowledge and wisdom, suitable to such power and dominion: I will give him the morning-star. Christ is the morning-star. He brings day with him into the soul, the light of grace and of glory; and he will give his people that perfection of light and wisdom which is requisite to the state of dignity and dominion that they shall have in the morning of the resurrection. 373 | Solomon died at the age of 69, right? | 1 Kings | BMyers | 204414
To the best of my knowledge, we can't say for sure how old Solomon was when he died. We know he was at least 40 because of 1 Kings 11:42. The different articles I read, place Solomon taking the thorn in his twenties. So that would make his death in his sixties.
374 | temptation n spiritual attack on pastors | Bible general Archive 4 | BMyers | 203643
A pastor is no different than any other man when it comes to temptation. I think if you look through history, you will find pastors have fallen for just about any reason that every other man has fallen. Just my 2 cents. Brad |

I would love to try to convince my wife that I shouldn't of worked for a year after we got married. I think you are thinking of Deuteronomy 24:5 where the new husband was exempt from military duty so he could start his new family and setup his household. Brad |
