Scripture ... Act 2:17-18, 18:26, 21:9; Rom 16:1, 13; Gal 3:26-29; Eph 4:11, 5:22-24; Col 3:18; 1 Cor 11:3-16, 14:34-35; 1 Tim 2:9-15, 3:1-7; Tit 1:5-11, 2:3-4; 2Jo 1:1, 13 ... While we are all equally sons of God (Gal 3:26-29). In this passage slaves who were subject to their master (Eph 6:5) were equally sons of God. Overseers and deacons (1 Tim 3:1-7, Tit 1:5-11) are masculine nouns, as well as pastors (Eph 4:11). Women are clearly to be subject to their husbands ... a big problem in the Corinthian church (1 Cor 11:3-16, 14:34-35) and some churches today. It was addressed other places (Eph 5:22-24, Col 3:18, 1 Tim 2:9-15). There appears to be an exception to women teaching men -- Priscilla with her husband Aquila, two-to-one, taught Apollos (Act 18:16). This was not in a church/congregation setting. Also, some use 2 John 1:1, 13, but we don't know who the lady was, or what role she had. In Acts 2:17-18, women and men will prophecy (I believe this is a promise to Israel alone) and based on Titus 2:3-4, to other women. This also applies elsewhere (Rom 16:1, 13). We do not know who Philip's daughters prophesied to (Acts 21:9). Fot more enter under Quick Search wom pastor wom teach wom preach wom minist Searcher PS I too want to know your verse |

Hi, Searcher. Thank you for your contribution to this thread. I often wonder if the people that have been on the forum for a long time ever get tired of answering the same questions over and over. (Perhaps it is evidence of the fruit of the Spirit; love, patience, kindess, etc) The person that posted this question (jehova4130) seemed to be having difficulty getting the question just right. First was posted this question, "what does it mean in chpt2 11,12?". I responded by asking, "What book??". (Though I had a feeling the question was refering to 1 Tim, I opted to use 2 Tim for the verse I had to post in order to even respond to this person) Then the person posted a second question (which was the same as the first) and which started this thread. After starting this thread, the person then went back to the original question they posted (what does it mean...) and responded to my question of "which book??" with the reply, "1 Tim. 2:11-12". So the person has clarified which book, which verse and what the question is. Unfortunately, all of this is done in bits and pieces as part of two different threads. And if I have you totally confused, my work here is done. :-) In Him, Karen |
