1 | Was NT Written in Greek or Hebrew? 1 | NT general Archive 1 | Emmaus | 130667 | ||
Kalos, I do not have much to offer on the question. Only these two things. Onr of the early Church Aftheres did refer to Matthew originally being written in "the Hebrew language" and this is usally understood to mean Aramaic rather than Hebrew. I have also heard it said that the Book of Revaltion is rather rough in Greek, but when translated or tranliterated back into Hebrew it is very good Hebrew. I have never heard any other arguments about other books of the NT being written originally in Hebrew and it seems unblikely considering the audience, even the Jews of the Diasphora along with the Gentiles, were Greek speakers for the most part. This subject is really out of my league. Emmaus |
