There are so many for both categories. Joseph (son of Israel via Rachel) - was hated by his brothers because of his dreams and favor of their father. He was hated by his brothers, sold into captivity, thrown into prison because of a lie, and finally, made it to the palace. Through all of this, he never complained or stopped trusting God. (starting in Genesis 37) Job - in all poor Job went through, he never lost his integrity and love for God (Book of Job) Esther - was born into captivity, who, because she was very humble and bold, became queen of Persia and saved her people from being killed. (Book of Esther) Daniel - was God's dream interpreter, refused to bow down to the Persian gods, continued to pray to God, even though it was forbidden, was cast into the lion's den, never stop trusting God. (Book of Daniel) Jonah - was sent by God to preach to a people whom he hated, ignored God's commission, ended up in a whale, went to preach anyhow, was mad because God saved the people (Book of Jonah) Samson - was not to mess with strange women (Philistines), played with Delilah until her plot to take his strength was carried through, died with the Philistines (starting in Judges 13:24) Jezebel - did anything to control everything, had God's prophets killed, thrown into prison, exiled, you name it. If you ever heard someone get called a "jezebel" this person is a control freak. Often, people would refer to a promiscuous woman as a "jezebel," even though Jezebel would have done anything to have her way, she is biblically known for her overpowering nature (1 Kings 18, 19, 21, 2 Kings 9 and Revelation 2:20) YoYo, I hope these help get you started WalkingTalkingBible |

YoYo, I have a few more (well four to be exact): Mary, the mother of Jesus - who, even though she didn't understand everything her Son had to accomplish, stayed by His side, even at the cross - which teaches us that we may not know everything that God is doing, just trust Him (any of the 4 Gospels) Hannah - one of the wives of Elkanah, the one "he loved," was made fun of by the other wife, Peninnah, because of her barreness; she knew she could trust God and went before Him and asked Him for a son and promised to give the son back to God if He answered her prayer, as God did allow her to have a son (Samuel, the Judge), she kept her word, praising God for answering her prayer (1 Samuel 1 - 2:1-11) Sarai (Sarah, the wife of Abraham) - when God had promised them a son in their old age (and Sarai was barren), Sarai chuckled in misbelief, went on, after years had passed before they had received this son, gave Abraham her handmaiden, and they had a son (Ishmael), God made them wait even longer, and finally, she brought forth the son God intended (Isaac); this teaches us not to be like Sarai (as the world is still dealing with the decendants of Ishmael today) and wait on God for everything - never move before God (Genesis 15 and 16) Judas Iscariot - betrayed Jesus for some silver, was greedy and selfish, didn't repent, driven to commit suicide because of his guilt (John 12:2-5; Matthew 26:15; Matthew 27) I know there are lots more but maybe someone else would like to contribute!
