Martha, The love of money is A root of all sorts of evil, but not the commonly misquoted "root of ALL evil". 1 Tim 6:10 10For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith, and pierced themselves with many a pang. NAS It is fine to use credit, but you must be aware of your limits. Do not forget that you are to set aside as you may prosper. This does not mean to save if you have anything left over at the end of the month, but to set aside each week some portion of the income you receive. AO |

What do you mean by set aside every week. I already give a tenth to the church. I also asked God for help, I read a whole bunch of books and I will be taking a class about the Christian and money very soon. Nothing has helped, I don't know what else to do to stop spending money at will. I need something piercind that will cut through my heart. Thanks, Martha, |

Martha, Do you have a budget? If not, pencil one out tonight for all the areas which you know require money each month. Compare that figure to your income and hopefully you will have a surplus. If not, you must find ways to reduce your expenses. Do not use your credit cards. If you do not have the item planned for in your budget, do not buy it! There are many ways you can structure your finances to live within your means and be a good steward for God's resources. Until you can sit down with some one, however, think about what causes you to spend money and what you normally purchase. Controlling spending will be the key to solving your problem. AO |

I got the answer to my question. I'm sorry it took me so long to respond. I am going to a class with my church the class is called Money and the Christian. I have to admit I do have the love for things and desire to have everything that I want, that's what my problem is. I have been praying to God and have asked Him for help so he can help me resolve my problem and get rid of my addiction for buying. I'm sure I will overcome. I already feel at ease, for I can do all things with God in me. I know it will go away, just like every other problem I've had has gone away. Thank you very much for your help. Martha, |
