Dr X, There are seven additional books in the Catholic Old Testament canon, not four. Catholics do not leave out the 4th commandment, they list the commandments slightly differently. The reason for the diffrence in the Old Testament canon is that Catholic follow the Septuagint, the Greek Old Testament and those books were from the earliest times used in Church prayer and worship.
