1 | Brand new out of date NASB? | Bible general Archive 1 | gould55 | 55347 | ||
Whoa...Sorry my orginal question has sparked some debate. I bought the Thompson NASB on-line and I'm sure I could return it without much problem. It was a handmade calfskin model (very beautiful and very expensive). I was a little frustrated that the publisher is continuing to produce the 77 version when it's been seven years since it was updated. Does the older version have that much of a following, or are the changes in the update so insigificant that it doesn't matter that much? I still haven't decided whether to try to send it back or not. I was hoping for some discussion on the merits, or lack thereof, of either version. |

Gould55 Not to worry, it was just a little misunderstanding between me and Justme. As to your problem, the Thompson Chain reference which I think you bought is an excellent Bible. However Thompson has a tendency to run a little slow when it comes to updates. I imagine adding all their references to a text is a major job and I think they are using older technology. I waited for years for the original NASB to come out in Thompson Chain and I waited even longer for it to come out in NKJV. I have now solved the problem, Wordsearch from Iexalt has the Thompson notes so I can now use them with any Bible even the very new ESV. As Justme said the Thompson Bible is an excellent Bible and very nicely made probably one of the best constructed Bibles on the market today. The chain references are fantastic and many preachers use them to construct their sermons. I use to sit and run reference as my minister spoke I would get to the next verse before him :-). Look through the Bible and notice all the features then decide if you want to return it or not. Aside from the translation I think you will be very happy. You might even consider writing or calling Thompson and see when they expect to update their NASB Bible. The company name is Kirkbide Bible and their number is 1-800-428-4385. If they give you a date let us know I would be interested in having a updated NASB Thompson. EdB |
