1 | Isn't my Mother in Heaven? | Bible general Archive 1 | mattiep | 24187
I want to know also. Ihave always believed there was a HEAVEN and I have encouraged my family to believe also. But I have an Aunt who is a Jehovah Witness and she told me that all Heaven talk is emotional drivel. she said when you die you just go in the ground until Jehovah comes back to get you. I was always taught that if you died in Christ that you are in HEAVEN. Now I'm a bit confused. I showed her all the Scriptures, especially in Matthew (like the Beatitudes) that talk about the Kingdom of GOD. She said that is only for the Elect Brothers. HELP!

Your aunt seems peculiarly lacking in the virtues of faith, hope and charity in light of your loss. But the Witnesses do not even believe that Jesus is God or the second Person of the Trinity. Where did Elijah and Moses comes from when Jesus was speaking to them on the Mount of Transfiguration? Matt 17:2-3. Of course, according to the logic expressed by your aunt, Jesus must be Jehovah or a very close relative, maybe the Son of Jehovah, if the dead came out of the ground to meet him. I guess Jesus is also right about God being the God of the living, the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. Maybe the Father sent them from Abraham's bosom. Luke 16:19-31 Keep the faith and the hope and pray for your aunt. |
