1 | Numerology any validity? | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 19533
Grant Jeffrey wrote a very interesting book called the Handwriting of God and another called the Signature of God. In these books he showed where God left indelible signatures of his existence in nature and at various other places. In the book he also discussed Numerology which I summarily dismissed. But as someone said in the forum could it be another example of how God attests to His existence by providing such things that no human mind could so conceive? Again I’m not advocating this to be used for fortunate telling or to predict the future but rather as a post script to the wonderful love letter God wrote to us. Again I'm not talking about predicting anything. Any thoughts? EdB |

2 | Numerology any validity? | Bible general Archive 1 | Morant61 | 19534
Greetings EdB! There are three distince problems with even this limited approach that come to mind immediately: 1) The Muslims make the same exact claim about the Quran. 2) If we can recognize the numeric patterns, then how can we say that no human mind could concive of it. 3) There is no objective standard applied to these supposed patterns. Look at the post that Bill posted today about the number 11 and the WTC bombing. We can create all kinds of patterns if we try hard enough. So, in my opinion, the patterns are not ojectively real, nor significant. They simply focus all of our attention away from what the Bible actually says, to what we can cleverly make it say through creative math. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Tim Are you saying they are mere coincidences that we are able to happen upon because we can over analyze scripture using computers? Makes sense and is basically what I believed but I think a clear and concise explanation was being lost in all the rhetoric in other threads. Okay I’ll buy that! Thanks my brother! EdB |

4 | Numerology any validity? | Bible general Archive 1 | Morant61 | 19558
Greetings Ed! I think some of it can be ascribed to coincidence, but I think most of it can be ascribed to manipulation. I looked up one web site and every piece of "evidence" they gave was arrived at by multiply, subtracting, adding, or dividing the number by different numbers until the desired result was arrived at. For instance: (this is just a make believe example) Take the mark of the beast: 666 6 plus 6 plus 6 equals 18. 18 times 2 (the beast and the false prophet) equals 36. 36 divided by 3 (the original numbers of numerals in 666) equals 12. 12 stands for governmental perfection. Therefore, 666 stands for the perfect government. This is the kind of nonsense that I have seen over and over again! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
