So the Mashiyac is speaking to John, two Hebrews from the Tribe of Judah, and they are speaking Greek? It is certainly more appropriate to refer to Yahshua as the Aleph Tav. Same concept, just different Aleph-bet! Look at Gen 1:1 and you will see an Aleph-Tav in the Hebrew text. Aleph-Tav's are frequently untranslated and are connected with Messianic prophecy.

Hi AMO, Sorry, but I don't really see the point. The New Testament was written in Greek. So the words are Alpha and Omega, not Aleph-Tav. If God wanted to refer to Jesus as "Aleph-Tav" I believe He would have done so. We should be careful not say things like, "It is certainly more appropriate to refer to Yahshua as the Aleph Tav." if that is not actually what is written. The context of the term Alpha and Omega, fit the implication of beginning and end. I don't think we should try to fit our own interpretation to Scripture. Whether or not we see a connection, it is not for us to change the meaning of what was written. Rev 22:18-19 Please remember, that one of the "Terms of Use" of this forum, is: "sola Scriptura" John |

Most assume the N.T. was penned originally in greek. However, Aramaic primacy can easily be established and has an amazing history. A detailed study of the Peshitta and it's history is worth the time. And Rev 21:6 cleary states "Aleph-Tav". I agree we should not fit our interpretations in to scripture. The Peshitta is scripture.

Hello Amo, Apparently, I'm not clear with where you're coming from? Not being familiar with the Peshitta, it's primacy or history, your explanation eludes me? Regardless, I'm failing to see how this really sheds light upon or otherwise answers the original question of what The Alpha and Omega means! No common English translation- and certainly not Koine Greek NT- reads, "Aleph-Tav", so your reply strikes me as a bit esoteric:-) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
