Dear mbooker, Neither prosperty nor poverty are sinful. That which is sinful is placing any desire before our desire for the kingdom of God. I have a problem with those who preach a gospel of "health, wealth and happiness". Hagin; Copeland; Hinn; Dollar; Price; etc. Their appeal is to our carnal natures. They go so far as to depict Jesus Himself as a wealthy preacher who wore the Armani suits of His day and even required a treasurer to care for the vast amounts of cash He carried with Him. "Another thing you may not realize is that Jesus wore designer clothes...Why do you need to know that? Because until you know that Jesus was prosperous, you won't be either. You may have His kindness, you may have His gentleness, you may have all His other attributes, but you'll never have His prosperity." (John Avanzini, Was Jesus Poor?, Believer's Voice of Victory, January, 1996, p. 8) 1 Tim 6:8-11 "If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content. But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness." Phil 4:11-13 "Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need." I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." John Reformed |

Sure... :) As long as the dialouge does not turn into a debate. I'm not interested in proving to anyone that I am right and/or they are wrong. It is my desire to be pointed to scriptures concerning a particular subject. Then taking thoses scriptures and reading them and allowing the Spirit of truth to guide me into all truth. Abba Father bless... :) |

Sorry mbooker, I love debate. I love truth and hate falsehood. Prov 27:17Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another. You just can't help it if the sparks fly in the process. If our hearts are right, I don't see a problem. John |

oh... :( I too love truth and hate falsehood. But alas, I'm not a debater. I'm just no good when sparks start flying(maybe because I'm a woman lol). On my part, things can get way off course and the issue can get lost. I don't doubt the rightness of your heart and may you be blessed always. I guess we have to part company on this one. But I will be around, and every now and then I'll peek in on debates that may be occuring :) Abba Father bless... |
