1 | Suffering For The Sake Of Christ? | 1 Pet 4:12 | bowler | 206393
I am struggling with which things are to be considered to be suffering for the sake of Christ. I have heard it said that those who are suffering in their marriages are not suffering for the sake of Christ but because of mutual sin and that suffering for the sake of Christ is to suffer for the proclaimation of the gospel only. Is that suffering for the sake of Christ is only in the doing of the work of Christ, or is it that any sufferig to obey Christ is suffering for the sake of Christ? blessings abound, bowler |

2 | Suffering For The Sake Of Christ? | 1 Pet 4:12 | Cody Mac | 206400
Your post confused me a little but I am going to give it a shot. As for marriage, it says in Amos Can two walk together except they agree. It can be difficult in a marriage if one is a believe and one is not, I am not married but in relationships alone there have been problems if I Get into one with a non believer. Suffering for Christ though? In that instance I would not say you are suffering for Christ in that it is his fault you are suffering but more that it is the person who does not believe who is the source of the suffering. If they believed there would not be a disagreement. There shouldnt be anything that makes you suffer to be doing the work of Christ, as a Christian I look forward to doing things for Christ and talking to people about him. Idk if that helps but the second part to your last question confused me most. Now the suffering for doing his works. In Matthew 10:16-23 Jesus warns of persecutions, (remember also in the same chapter verses 32-33) um these verse 16-23 talk about a time when it will be against the law to be a Christian during the Great Tribulation when the antichrist hold dominion over the world. Still people even here in America will more or less metaphoricly or actually spit in our face no matter what. But we are promised eternal life in the end and riches in Heaven. A Saved man or woman will be able to stand up to Christ even to death, Christ will give us strength. I would say that anytime someone talks down on you or torments you for doing works for Christ and being Christians then you are suffering for Christ. Even if your spouse talks bad about it and down on you for it, you are suffering for Christ. |

Cody Mac Suffering for Christ as if it is His fault? A little confused how that would work. Perhaps you meant suffering for Christ's sake because He suffered for us? There shouldn't be anything to suffer if we do the work of Christ? I think Peter says we are called to suffer because we are Christians somewhere. I agree that if the spouse talks down to you about you doing the work you are suffering for Christ. Thank you for your thoughts here. blessings abound, bowler |

4 | Suffering For The Sake Of Christ? | 1 Pet 4:12 | Cody Mac | 206409
To us ourselves we find peace in working for Christ, there is no greater joy. I was trying to say that because we work for Christ people will persecute us, suffering physically maybe might sound better? The times people have tried to bring me down for doing his work, it didnt make me angry but it broke my heart. I prayed for them but it saddened me to know they were not living in Christ. Maybe suffering isnt a good word to use when describing working for Christ? That might be where the confusion is because now that I think about it more, no matter what happens to us for doing what he told us to do and living out he wants us to being filled with the Holy Spirit we have an inner peace to do his work and a courage that no one who didnt walk the same road can understand. This as me wondering now. I imagine we would feel similar to Christ, we know that while he was dying on the Cross he felt nothing but love for us. It must have been like a burning fire, like a father for his children but he did suffer. Ok, so. How about this, granted I live in America so I (if this sounds accurate) have not suffered for Christ, why? Because if we are to understand suffering as Christ suffered for us perhaps it would be a physical torment, combined with a broken heart for the ones inflicting the suffering like what he felt for those that sentenced him to death. Living in America I am not hunted for believing in God like maybe if I lived in a country that was under Muslim rule and it was against the law to believe in Christ??? |

Cody Mac I hear you about suffering physicaly, being perscuted for the faith like as if we were over seas and being hunted. I see where my confusion was now about what you were really saying about kinds of suffering there are. I also see what you are saying about doing His work that we are not always suffering just because we do it. blessings abound, bowler |
