1 | Noah's ark? | 1 Pet 3:20 | confused-catholic | 93555
What could the "ark of Noah" symbolize? Does it symbolize the foundation of mankind or the wickedness of mankind since God caused the flood because of their wickedness?
2 | Noah's ark? | 1 Pet 3:20 | N_i_c_k | 151709
We can speculate regarding the symbolism of the ark but I don’t know if there is any. There is however symbolism in the water. 1 Pet 3:20-22 says: “…in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ”. Water saved Noah and family from the sin in the world and baptism saves us from our sins. “And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord” (Acts 22:16). By the way, the catholic doctorine regarding baptism is wrong.
