2 | Can I pray for someones Sins | James 5:15 | mark d seyler | 162351 | ||
Hi Fabay02 Perhaps this is the scripture you have in mind? James 5 13 Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15 and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. This is speaking of one who comes for prayer, and is therefore desiring to be healed, and to be forgiven. We, each of us, must repent of our sins for them to be forgiven. (Luke 24:47, 2 Cor 7:9, 2 Tim 2:25) Repentance always comes before forgiveness and salvation, and leads to salvation. The point of all this is that no one can repent "for" another. Repentence is literally "change of mind", and can only be done individually and personally. Does this help? Love in Christ, Mark |
