Hi mabeth, fellowship (spiritual) and relationship (carnal) are a little bit alike in that both involve interacting with one another. However, fellowship (spiritual) is much more than just being with other true believers. The Greek word for fellowship is koinonia and it means partnership, communion, joint participation, and intimacy (not sexual). 1 Corinthians 1:9 says, "God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord." (Also, see 1 John 1:3, 6-7) Surely, we are not to have the type of relationship with Christ where we are just "hanging out" with Him. Also, we are to be much more involved with each other as members of the body of Christ, as we are told to love one another as Jesus has loved us (John 13:34). This love is a supernatural love in that the only way we can love each other the way God wants is to have His Spirit dwelling within. Fellowshipping with one antoher is (should be) very rewarding to our spiritual growth and walk with God. Good question! WalkingTalkingBible |
