1 | How to share the Gospel with Teens | Heb 9:27 | TheChosenone | 150848
I am sharing the Word of God with young teenagers of a group home for troubled teens. While telling them about Christ one of youth said that the didn't want to get saved yet because the wanted to have all their fun first. Essentially, he was saying that being a Christian as a teen would take all the fun out of living and he wanted to get all his "fun times" and worldly cardinal activities finished before coming to Chirst? How does one comment on a statement like that? I want to do want feels good first then accept Christ later, he said. |

TheChosenone, God's day to you and welcome to the SBF, I have even shared the Gospel with people in their 80's - they weren't ready yet, even though they buried one of their freinds a few weeks before. Point out we do not know when we will die. Many teens have died in traffic accidents - some times they weren't at fault. Not having "fun" is the picture some have. It is a joy to read the Bible, pray, sing as well as worship and serve Him ... because the Holy Spirit is in me and helps me. Use your own words how it is fun to be a Christian. Hope I have helped, Searcher |

I essentialy stated your reply, but felt like I didn't get through. The kids I deal with, like lot of others in the world, have this idea that they have a long time to live. The attitude "it can't happen to me" is pervasive throught todays generation. Does anyone else have a comment on some scripture I might use to get the attention of those young teens who are open enough to listen to someone like me talk to them about God's Word but hard to get through too?

Hi, Chosenone... God bless you as you work with these young people. Of course, you must remember that our persuasiveness is not what matters. God must do the work in the hearts of unbelievers. That written, we ought to know how to respond to the questions we receive. I would highly recommend the sermon that God used to spark revival in Enfield, CN in 1741. Read it prayerfully and carefully. http://www.ccel.org/e/edwards/sermons/sinners.html You can also listen to it at the sermon audio site. At the time that Jonathan Edwards preached this sermon, he was acting as a substitute pastor. The Second Great Awakening had changed the entire country. For some reason it had not yet touched the little town of Enfield. The people of that town had watched it happening in all the adjacent towns. The understanding of the condition of the lost that you will gain from this sermon will help you convey that sense of urgency to them. In Him, Doc |
