1 | Heb. 3-4:1-13? | Heb 4:1 | Ray | 148348
Hi 1-2steve, I don't see any "angels" mentioned in Hebrews 3-4:1-13. Therefore any connection would have to come from the words themselves in context. Jude 5, "Now I desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all, that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently [Lit, the second time] [He] destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, **He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day." Hebrews 3:18, "And to whom did He swear that they should not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient? 19 And so we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief. 4:1 Therefore, let us fear lest, while a promise remains of entering **His rest, any one of you should seem to have come short of it." 1) We can see that the passages deal with the grace of God, finding rest in Him, and being found faithful even as Moses was faithful in all **His house. 2 | Heb. 3-4:1-13? | Heb 4:1 | 1-2steve | 148351
Ray, I'm so sorry! I meant v. 5 not 6. We are going through Hebrews now (and been for over a year) and what I was wondering is that the Israelites were delivered, they just weren't allowed to enter into the promised land. And Hebrews talks of an inheritance. Perhaps the 1,000 yr. reign with Christ. And just as the Israelites did not enter because of unbelief, the believers who don't "hold fast our confidence (3:6), the beginning of our assurance (3:14) and our confession (4:14) will not reign with Christ in the millenial reign. But it doesn't necessarily mean that we won't go into eternity (like this is a loss of rewards at the Bema Judgement Seat). But Jude "seems" to say the opposite concerning those thar were "delivered". And Jude not only speaks of their sin ( angels, Soddom and Gomorrah, and the certain men), but also of their judgement. I just wanted some input on what you thought. Sorry for not specifying the right verse. But do you see what I'm struggling with? Also that rest is supposed to have something to do with the reign of the righteous King. What do you think? Sincerly steve |

Hi 1-2steve, I do not know enough about the 1000 year reign to be able to comment on how or if it relates to Jude. Sorry, perhaps someone else will jump in here. As far as the "rest" spoken of in Hebrews 4:8, I compare it with Colossians 2:13 and being made alive together with Christ. Also Ephesians 2:5 speaks of being made alive together with Christ and being shown the surpassing riches of His grace. All of us are being fitted together to grow into a holy temple in the Lord. Sorry I couldn't answer your question. From the heart, Ray |
