1 | Jesus according to Paul, vs. the Gospels | 2 Tim 3:16 | kalos | 42772
Amplified Bible 2 Tim 3:16 Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God's will in thought, purpose, and action), The four Gospels are Scripture. The letters of Paul are Scripture. All Scripture is equally inspired by God. Therefore, both the Gospels and the writings of Paul are Scripture; both are equally inspired by God. Both are inerrant in the original manuscripts. The notion that the Bible (in this case Paul and the gospel writers) contradicts itself is totally false. There are NO contradictions in Scripture. Further, based on the following Scripture passages, it is questionable whether the person you quote has any understanding of the Bible at all. Amplified Bible 1 Cor 2:14 But the natural, nonspiritual man does not accept or welcome or admit into his heart the gifts and teachings and revelations of the Spirit of God, for they are folly (meaningless nonsense) to him; and he is incapable of knowing them [of progressively recognizing, understanding, and becoming better acquainted with them] because they are spiritually discerned and estimated and appreciated. Holman Christian Standard Bible 1 Corinthians: 1:18 For to those who are perishing the message of the cross is foolishness, but to us who are being saved it is God's power. 1:19 For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the understanding of the experts. 1:20 Where is the philosopher? Where is the scholar? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn't God made the world's wisdom foolish? 1:21 For since, in God's wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of the message preached. (...) 1:25 because God's foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength. All that said, I wouldn't recommend interpreting the writings of Paul or of the Gospel writers based on the much later-written and misinformed views of the person you quote. |

Thanks, Kalos. Unfortunately, my correspondent does not share our faith in the inspiration of the Scriptures, and his question is part of the reason why he feels that Christianity as we know it today is a corruption of the faith of the original Christians, who he claims did not believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ. I have encountered this objection from several quarters now, and am really searching for some authoritative sources with which to refute it. (BTW, I liked your closing remark... *grin*) Peace, --Cheryl |

Why are you doubting our lord? Nothing can stop him from judging us. He can not be fool. He knows everyhing about us, why we do this, and why we do that. and that is how he will judge us. So dont waste your time trying to belittle him it will not work.
