1 | Confronting another about sin | 2 Tim 2:22 | drcinva | 165465
A girl in our church is very unhappily married with kids. She and I have recently become very good friends (I am male). I have learned that she has developed an enormous crush on me and is about to leave her husband in the hopes that I will become interested in her. She has told a couple of her friends about her feelings for me. I have never done anything to provoke these feelings in her. It has gotten out-of-hand (she calls and e-mails me many times a day and is starting to ask very leading questions). I have somewhat tried to avoid confronting her about this, but a friend told me that as a brother in Christ of hers, I am obligated to confront her because this is tanatmount to adultery. I seem to remember reading or hearing this also. Does anyone know where I might find references to this in the Bible? I am hoping that if I can find this and read it, I might find some inspiration on how to handle this situation...it cannot continue because she is about to make the wrong decision for the wrong reasons. Thank you.

Scripture ... Pro 6:20-29, Mat 5:27-28, 19:1-9; Luk 16:18; 1Co 7:1ff; Php 4:8-9; 2 Tim 2:22 ... God's day to you, drcinva, First, I you may think you didn't do anything to provoke these feelings in her. However, you did play a part. I say this because I have been a friend to a married gal ... I din't realize that I was causing a problem. When I did, I backed away, after letting her know. I have included some passages ... and I think you need to confront her directly, in a semi public place - you need do ask for forgiveness for leading her on and tell her she is offending you and her husband ... ... and if she doesn't want to back off, bring in a mutal friend (or even the pastor) ... this is following Matthew 18:15ff. |
