1 | Satan's Power | 1 Thess 2:18 | Sandman | 9959
"Hindered" or "Stopped," whichever translation you like, the questions remain: how much power does Satan have? If we know that God works for the good in all things, then this verse points out that Satan has the ability to disrupt that. Does this render God less powerful?
2 | Satan's Power | 1 Thess 2:18 | Makarios | 9978
Greetings Sandman! JVH0212 has already posted a couple of answers to your question.. "In the Old Testament, then, Satan is not an evil principle opposing God. In Job "the Satan" is not God's adversary, but Job's. He Acts as one of God's subordinates/courtiers to follow his directives . . . Within the Job narrative, Satan acts at God's directive." Baker's Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology, edited by Walter A. Elwell, 1996, published by Baker Books. (http://bible.crosswalk.com/Dictionaries/BakersEvangelicalDictionary/bed.cgi)" and "The Limitations of Satan: 1) He is a creature and therefore not omniscient or infinite. 2) He can be resisted by the Christian (James 4:7). 3) God places limitations on him (Job 1:12)." I have also responded with: 4) Satan also knows that his time is short.. (Rev. 12:12) 5) Believers will not be tempted beyond what they can bear (1 Cor. 10:13). 6) Satan must yield to the authority of Christ (Matt. 28:18). I have noticed that you posted the question twice, and this is the reason why I have quoted myself and JVH0212 here again, which answers both questions (which are the same question).
