2 | why do Christians meet on Sunday? | Col 2:16 | Apollos | 179261 | ||
Hello rodant666 The Bible does not say that Christians should meet on a Sunday. In Acts 2 we are told that they met daily! We know that Jesus rose on the first day of the week and that he appeared to them more than once on that day. It would seem to be a most appropriate day for Christians to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. But Paul tells us in Colossians 2:16,17 that we are not to let anyone judge us on such matters and that the sabbath and other holy days were shadows of the realities that are in Christ who is our true and perfect Rest. For the first 300 years or so of the Christian church Christians worked on Sunday as it did not become a day of rest until the emperor Constantine declared it to be such sometime in the early 300s AD. Hope this helps. Apollos |
